HP Pavillion DV7 Notebook: Use unpartitioned disk space on a 700 GB DV7 Notebook

I have an original 700 GB hard disk partitioned into 5 partitions

1. 199 MB - system partition

370 2 GB - data drive partition C

Partition 3 - 313 f - not assigned

4. 14 Gb - partition recovery

5. 103 Mb - HP partition tools

This disc was partiotioned factory of HP, I have often wondered why HP had left aside nearly 40 percent of the primary (370 Gb) drive as unallocated. This serves?

So far there has not been a problem, but as the increase in requests for space, I'd use this space if possible.

This space is set aside by HP for any special purpose, that I don't know - or can I just use it without causing problems?

Thank you very much

Tony...

Hello

There is no goal for this unused disk space, and very probably he popped a previous restoration.

You can expand the C partition in "unallocated space" as follows.

Once more, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type diskmgmt.msc and press ENTER.

In the lower graphic view of the partitions, right-click on the C partition and select "Extend Volume".

In the next window, click Next.

In the next window, use the "select the amount of space in MB" make sure it shows the same number as the number of 'Space available Maximum in MB' which is registered just above (adjust if necessary).

Click Next, then click Finish.

It may take a few minutes to complete.

Kind regards

DP - K

You need to duplicate pictures unless you want to use the PSE as external editor for iphoto. In iphoto, your photos are stored in a library owner, which should never be marred with programs other than iphoto. Written to the iphoto library from outside iphoto is the best way to corrupt and lose all the photos it contains.

So you can either set PSE as external editor and send the photos of in iphoto, or you export photos from iphoto to use them outside of this program.

  • How to use unknown disk space?

    Original title: "unknown space"

Hi I m shivani I have a problem I have three unknown 18.6 GB disk space can u tell me how to use these discs. Please allow me to * address email is removed from the privacy *.

If it is unallocated space, the first step is to create a partition: http://Windows.Microsoft.com/fr-fr/Windows-Vista/Create-and-format-a-hard-disk-partition.  Also read the articles referenced for additional information on the implementation of these partitions correctly.

Once the partitions are created they can be expanded or narrowed (as long as they are contiguous) If you care about this:http://Windows.Microsoft.com/fr-fr/Windows-Vista/Create-and-format-a-hard-disk-partition.  This can be done in readers, but only in the same drive.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Excessive use of disk space on the computer.

With my machine Win7 with nothing other than the operating system and software support (AV, ZAfirewall, wireless) what's with 32 GB of disk space?

This machine is alive for 3 weeks.

Now my XP machine which is alive for years and has all of its updates as well as tons of other software collected over the years and it is only using 8 gig.

    Why the huge difference?

Oh I agree, it will be never be the same. But it's strange to use 30 + GB on a new installation.

But absolutely.  You cannot buy a different system and wait until it has the same footprint as a predecssor. It's like saying 'My XP uses more space than BACK!', well duh, BACK fits on a floppy :)

  • Why Lightroom uses hard disk space if my catalog is in dropbox?

I am new to Lightroom and love it so far. In addition to some external hard drives backup, I keep all my photos on Dropbox and am currently trying to build my library in Lightroom by importing my photos. Because I'll be editing my photos from multiple computers, I decided to move my Lightroom Catalog to Dropbox as well. This way I can continue to ensure coherence between several machines in my library.

My question, however, is that whenever I have import photos, I seem to be consumes hard disk space on my computer. I'm confused because my photos and catalog are in Dropbox, so this is actually too much space on my hard drive? I just imported approximately 1.63 GB of photos and afterword noticed that 1.46 GB has been written to my hard drive. I know that I am using the correct catalog (also the catalog only I have for Lightroom) because use space has increased after my import on my dropbox catalog file.

I don't know there's a logical reason - as I said, I'm new to Lightroom so always understand the ins and outs. But if someone could help me out here I would appreciate it a lot!

    Thank you

By default copy of Dropbox (and synchronizes forever) all in your remote Dropbox folder on each device that you have connected to your Dropbox account.

1 GB of files in your remote Dropbox folder will also chew up to 1 GB of space on each hard disk attached to the Dropbox account.

The power of the box lies in its timing in order to always have the latest file available on any device connected to your Dropbox account. The compromise is that 5 appliances also each stores its own copy of the same file. Any changes made to any file on any device is synchronized by Dropbox.

You can save space locally by allowing a selective sync in Dropbox and saying Dropbox folders to synchronize and copy it to the local disk and which ignores.

Are you using the selective sync Dropbox?

How to save space on my computer with selective sync? (Dropbox Help Center)

However, I am not convinced that selective sync will give you the workflow that you are trying to reach.

  • Used virtual disk space

Myself in trouble and am not sure how best to cope. Got a Windows Server 2008 that is configured with a 95 GB HD (which is 95% of 100 GB virtual disk) and now I am unable to create snapshots due to lack of availaable to free space on the data store. I used the disk option "shrink" management Windows disk and reduced the size of the 'C' of 75GB drive and ran the option boom of VMware Tools, which is not the amount of free space on the data store, as seen in VCenter. Also see desperate to back up the data by removing the server and re-building/restoration with a smaller drive 'C' does anyone know of all the other options I could try? Thank you.

you have an another data store you want Storage vMotion the guest in quesiton to?

  • linked clone / use of disk space

However, I am pretty new to LM.

I was informed that a linked clone would take about 64 MB of disk space per box. I clone a bunch of fees Windosw 2003 OS just to test this linked clone ability out.

The boxes are 27 GB of space to use before the cloning and 9.79 GB after cloning. This is still an economy but is not considerable 64 MB.

Can someone give me some real estimates what to expect in terms of disk space using linked clones without and the changes made to the original system.

Our main reason for the evaluation of the LM was to take advantage of the clones related as one of our servers that clone us is 500 GB in our environments so SAN space gets quickly chewed with each environment.

I'm curious to know what others are recording using a linked clone.

    Cheers.

Do not run a clone that is related to your model.

  • Inaccessible machine always appears as the use of disk space on vCenter

    Hello

I use an ESX 4 server as a host of a vCenter.  One of our machines has probably been removed via the ESX itself some time ago and it does not exist on the store data, but when you browse the host when it is connected to the vCenter, I see the machine appears under the name "inaccessible".  Now, when I look at the virtual host computers tab, I see that the machine uses up to 25 GB of disk space, but this machine does not really exist on the data store.  I tried refreshing and so forth, but the machine still appears as existing and too much space.  Can someone explain why this is the case?

Also, I can remove the machine from the inventory and no block will be reserved for this machine?

    Thank you

    Ofer

If you are sure, that concerned VM is not necessary, do a right-click the VM and remove from the inventory. It won't support a swap file lock in the data store as the heartbeat for this virtual machine is already lost.

Usually, a VC service is restarted and the removal of the virtual machine directly from host should solve the problem.

    Thank you

  • A question about the use of disk space free on a RAID 10 for ASM?

Is it possible to install/configure 11gDB under the CARS using left over 300 GB of disk space.

I have all my drives configured in RAID 10 and I have 11g THAT RAC installed. I uninstalled RAC and database and then added the required RPM (ASM library and drivers).

Successfully installed the RAC and then proceeds to installation and configuration of 11gDB for ASM using the available disk space.

Is this possible? I get the error message: 11g DB intalled on RAC1 ASM cannot be used until the Oracle CSS service is started.

    Thank you

You get this because CSS is not started, and ASM, it needs.

As root, go in $ORACLE_HOME/bin and run:
    #. / Add a localconfig

  • Better use of disk space on the server esxi (for data store)

I have a HP Proliant DL380G6 which currently has 2 146 GB hard drives in a Raid0 configuration.  We quickly realize that this is not enough space for all of the virtual machine, we have running.

Is there a way of 'clean' to add disks to this server - by this I want to say one where we don't have to add readers, and then reconfigure the raid5 raid card, and reinstall...

And on a related issue (even if it may seem irrelevant):

Some of our virtual machines are currently on a mounted NFS datastore that I want to spend in the local data store.  One of them has quite a few clichés that take up a lot of space.  What is the CORRECT way to migrate the virtual machine to the other local datastore, get rid of all snapshots (maintenance of the VM in its current state)?

Believe it or not. . Just select Remove all.

You are here is not a cliché. . It's your current state and not be deleted unless you select "go to" (note the different icon)

(even if I understand your concern)

If you are really nervous and wants to prove it to yourself, just test it on a virtual machine with no snapshots (create a snapshot, add a file, delete the snapshots and see if the files still exists)

  • Use of disk space

I just finished installing windows 7 Home premium that it shows who used 58.9 GB on my hard drive. the box says 20 gig for the installation of 32-bit. whythe difference? It was a fresh install of XP

Check to know whether there is a Windows.old folder.  It must contain data files, RTC of the XP installation. If you do not need, it can be removed.

  • Why amazon cloud lasts upwards of my disk space?

amazon cloud, I installed and it took more than 20 GB of my free space.  Why should I use my disk space.  I thought the whole point was to store my files in the internet so why should my space?

  • Windows Vista PC keeps filling the disk space

Windows Vista PC keeps filling the disk space, but programs like Treesize and Windows Explorer are not all of the additional files.

The disc has about 45 GB of files, but the 220 GB drive is almost full. I suspect that a program will create orphaned files. CHKDSK is currently suspended from the second pass. Will try to run until the end of the day to the next.

I turned on the hidden files and protected, it is not that I can't see the files. What can account for 150 + GB of invisible disk space?  Indexing of Windows seems to be active, although the C drive was marked to not be indexed.

I know that a temporary internet file (content.ie5) is doubly hidden. Who had only 50 MB in it, so it's not the culprit. Any other hidden super-fichiers that everyone knows.

Running Trend Micro PC-Cillin. The history of this creation of orphaned files?

All the tools that look right at the MFT to see what is using the disk space and the avoidance of the directory tree?

This isn't a matter of a few directories being wholesale, or clean old files. The space used is not anywhere to be found.

Already run cleaning ccleaner and disk. Empty temporary files, Recycle Bin, etc. Only restore point. Registry clean with ccleaner.

Never did anything on computer that could use 150 GB of space.

If you look at just the computer, you can see disappearing disk space (maybe 1 GB an hour).

Always seems to happen if you disconnect from the internet.

Friend PC, so I did not have immediate access to it.

Whence the free number 'space '? I'm just that an orphan file will not be displayed in a search in directories or with Treesize, but will use up to 'free space '?

    No sign of a virus.

    Hello

Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

I suggest to refer to the article and try to defragment the hard disk:

Improve performance by defragmenting your hard drive

I understand that you have already scanned the hard drive with anti-virus software, although I suggest you try to run an online scan and check if it helps:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Let us know if it helps.

  • Disk space remaining time 0 days... but what VMs.

    Hi all.

I installed the VAPP for VCOPS is about 2 weeks and continues through he's trying to learn it.

I was looking at the warnings and try to get health upward.   Most of the things are clickable, but for that I can't figure out what/where to go.

If I highlight something on the left (my vCenter for me), then go to the planning on the right, then the views.

I find a lot of things RED.  For example, if I choose 'Ability to Virtual Machine', then down I see next to "Disk space" that I have the time that remains "0 days."

Also that 27 of my virtual machines are more.   I can't figure out how to find just what VMs that is.

I have attached a screenshot showing the screen page.

    5.7.1 vCops build 1166139

    Thank you very much.

If you use the admin account from vCenter for the collector of vCOps, perms are probably not a problem here. vCenter creds are used only to collect data from vCenter, and to access user acts as a degree of transmission for advanced access to the USER interface. Whatever it is, I don't think it's an immediate question since you are using your administrator account.

    1. instant space on a virtual computer will count just use of disk space. After a certain age it is even considered as a waste (configurable, default 180 days).

    2. who would absolutely have an impact on the accuracy of what vCOps sees. vCOps needs to see all the virtual machines on a store of data and giving only even if partial access through vCenters can cause serious situations of angle with these #s of planning. I recommend that you add the 2nd vCenter to vCOps for monitoring to help to clean up, but you can find that data warehouses are the same signature, but with "possibly" differing vCOps resource name - see what it does in your case. When you migrate computers virtual to the new vCenter, he'll gen new unique identifiers for resources and you will lose your historical data for those VMs. The virtual machines in the new vCenter will be collected as long as new resources and collect measures under this new resourceid... the old resource and associated metrics will be left to age with the rest of your data.

How long until the migration is complete? Until you get your warehouses of data cleaned and VMs on them fully visible to vCOps, I think that the #s will be a little off.

Writing an effective question of communities of Apple Support

Time Machine is a backup software. If you mean that you're already using TM and you want to store other items on your backup disk, you can, but it is not a good idea and you will need to partition the drive. http://pondini.org/TM/3.html
