  My USB (front and back) ports ceased to recognize new devices, including readers of the pen, much older work OK. Whenever I plug them in, it tries to load a driver, then reports that no driver can be found. This isn't a hardware problem, as all devices work fine under Linux (Ubuntu 10.4) on the same computer. Deviice managed shows also some "unknown devicesE that is"failed to start"or the lack of pilots.

  Similar problems were reported in other threads and I have tried to uninstall all devices of the USC (only prevented my mouse to work!) and looking for the top and bottom of the filters (absent). Any advice?

  Hi Chris - and anyone else who is still looking for a solution to this common problem.

  I found the solution for my system - it was in one of the many similar threads. I moved the C:\windows\system32\DriverStore\infcach.1 file to the desktop. (It would be possible to remove it, but even if I took possession of him and gave myself the full control, I was unable to do so).

  Restart, caused a new file to create, much larger than the original. (There was also a file called OldCache.000 which I vainly tried to rename). I then opened the applet devices and printers in Control Panel and was able to install both my printer/scanner (it took two goes, one for each function) and my USB PCI card. If all goes well...

  I guess there are several causes for this problem, and all the proposed solutions work for someone.

  This may be a problem with the contacts for transport does not properly communicate with the cartridge. Also, make sure that the protective tape has been removed from the cartridge.

  C5500 printer is the default printer. I also have an hp c4280 printer that works if I want to print or scan at any time. I checked device drivers and it says they work prperly more, this is the last version of this printer. I used the troubleshooting of microsoft files site and everything out very well, but still does not print. The ink levels are new in the cartridges and the printer paper in the status bar. Internet connection and a connection between the product and the OK computer. I am lost as I bought all printers have been brand HP, and first time I had a problem.  I hope someone can help.   I'm sorry you have a problem with the printing of certain documents.

  It seems that your printer spooler may have a problem.

  Try to stop and restart.

  1. click on Start Menu

  2. type (Services) in the search bar

  3 scroll down to Printer Spooler

  4. stop and restart.

  This printer has worked well in the past. It is a bit old. I used one that has a fax for a while, but after I have does not need that 1, I put this 1 upward again... maybe a year ago? Recently, it does not recognize the ink as being installed. I think I bought cartridges 74 & 75 maybe 2 months ago so that they are fairly new. I looked at the help on this forum and tried from the back and then pull the plug out for 15 seconds and connect again... no help. I read how to remove the cartridges and where the cartridges go in... no help. I even unplugged from the rear and the plug for 20 minutes... no help.

  I read somewhere on this forum without other printers use 74 & 75 ink (or was this one of them?). So if I had to buy new ink and is not the problem...?

  Canon sells a range of for residential use inkjet printers that use individual ink cartridges. These printers contain a chip that monitors the use of ink cartridges. The chip is not always accurate, however. In many cases, a cartridge is not really empty when the screen says it is. In these cases, the ink cartridge must be reset and the monitor turned off to be able to use the rest of the ink in the cartridge.

  You can follow these instructions and check:

  a. press the button "Reset" once to resume printing if the printer stops and indicates an ink cartridge is nearly empty. The "Reset" button on the Canon printer is indicated by a circle with a triangle reversed in it.

  b. press the "Reset" button"and hold it down for at least five seconds reset the ink cartridge and turn off the analysis of the cartridge.

  c. monitor the ink level in the cartridge once the monitor has been disabled. Replace the cartridge or refill it when the cartridge is empty.

  My guess is that you see an authentication dialog window requesting Admin username and password on your computer, because he wants to install files on your system (such as GarageBand/logic sounds) directory.
