Canon sells a range of for residential use inkjet printers that use individual ink cartridges. These printers contain a chip that monitors the use of ink cartridges. The chip is not always accurate, however. In many cases, a cartridge is not really empty when the screen says it is. In these cases, the ink cartridge must be reset and the monitor turned off to be able to use the rest of the ink in the cartridge.

You can follow these instructions and check:

a. press the button "Reset" once to resume printing if the printer stops and indicates an ink cartridge is nearly empty. The "Reset" button on the Canon printer is indicated by a circle with a triangle reversed in it.

b. press the "Reset" button"and hold it down for at least five seconds reset the ink cartridge and turn off the analysis of the cartridge.

c. monitor the ink level in the cartridge once the monitor has been disabled. Replace the cartridge or refill it when the cartridge is empty.

    Are getting you any kind of error message about the cartridge? If this is the case, please follow this ink cartridge problem: "Not compatible ink cartridge" or "Ink cartridge must be replaced" message for HP Deskjet 3520 e-all-in-one and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage e-all-in-one 3520 Printer series document and, hopefully, the printer will recognize the cartridge after these steps.

    Maybe that's not the question if you thinking maybe that black ink is not printing? If this is the case, please try these steps printer prints blank Page or not printing black or color ink for HP Deskjet Ink Advantage and Deskjet 3520 e-all-in-one printer series for a possible solution

    If you tried to change the cartridge and clean the contacts, then you've done several of the steps already in order to answer the question.

    You can consider replacing the printer as well if the steps do not fix the issue. Have you considered the available through the Support of HPupgrade program, if the unit is out of warranty?

    If the device does not black ink print, it may be a couple different things, the cause.  Have you tried to run the print head alignment feature in the configuration menu of the printer?

    If the unit is not aligned correctly, while she can have colors (including black in this) lack of printed documents.  Check out the steps described in the document, found here, to solve a problem of printing such as this one.

    I just replaced all my ink cartridges in my HP DESKJET 3520 printer (it's wireless).  It prints fine colour, but not black.  I tried to clean the print head, align the cartridges, check the intake on the cartridges.  I have also just opened another black cartridge, thinking maybe my new was defective.  So now, I've just lost a cartridge.

    so frustrated! My printer is more than a year now.  So not guaranteed.  When I click on the printer ink levels, he is grateful I have full cartridges - but is not printing in black at all.

    page here can help.  The cartrdige you need is the photo cartrdige, he won't say black anywhere on the packaging.  (The previous packaging that says black picture was confused people who needed a black cartrdige).

    I've seen a few suggestions from the people of HP in the forum to Contact HP, they can provide replacements, even though most of the cases that I remember was for users who need black but got photo cartrdiges.

    My guess is that you see an authentication dialog window requesting Admin username and password on your computer, because he wants to install files on your system (such as GarageBand/logic sounds) directory.     Putting in a new black ink cartridge the printer says it's there and full of new ink but when printing it don't use it. It happened the last time that I put in the black cartridge and I managed to do it finally work but don't remember what I did. Why is this happening?

    With printing black ink is not like that, there are only a few things you can try, and it looks like you did most of them. If the steps described in the following paper the link did not help, then you might make a physical print head cleaning. Bob_Headrick gave the steps to do this in the post below. If none of this does not work, you can either replace the printhead by contacting the support of HP, or you will need to replace the printer.     The black ink will print on my printer.  I installed new ink and cleaned the print heads.  I did a review of the printer and the ink of color appeared only.  The printer is recognizing the cartridge when I check the ink levels.  The first page after cleaning came out very faint then anything.  At first, I thought that the new black ink cartridge was defective.  So I replaced it with another new - no difference.

    The only change is that I have installed all new cartridges when all printing has become very low.

    Fushing did not work, however, we used a demo on Utube and has not used the distlled water.  That could be the problem. The printer is about 8 years old, we decided to get a new one.  Thank you very much for your help.

    Recently, I replaced the ink cartridges on my Photosmart 7510 C311A. These are all the "genuine HP cartridges ', full.

    Black ink (with the symbol of the Pentagon) does not print, not at all. I ran through the standard troubleshooting steps:

    * Check for a good evacuation

    My colleague in the corridor as the printer even so I borrowed his black ink cartridge and tried: same problem. The printer does not record that there is a problem, but when I run printing tests, where there should be a black ink, there is absolutely none. All other colors print correctly.

    The printer doesn't lack NOT of the printer "align" test however does not offer a suggestion of what to do from there. I've not seen - in test reports - an indiciation of the misalignment.

    Suggestions on what to do now?

    I had the same problem. I had replaced the empty cartridge black and suddenly, no ink. Finally, what has worked is
    (1) I removed all the cartridges and cleaned the copper connectors with wet Publix.
    (2) I got a wet paper towel and he pressed repeatedly on the silver circular vent that would be under the black cartridge. I did until no black came. Let it dry.
    (3) I replaced all the cartridges and on the printer. I went to tools/clean the cartridge. I did it a couple of times and he finally printed black ink! I confirmed by going to tools/align, and align the cartridges successfully. He had kept before crashes when the black ink did not work.
