HP probook 430 g1 with a SSD update
Hi all.
I'll be updating my HP Probook 430 G1 with a 512 GB SSD (in fact is 512 HDD with W7 64 professional); Web sites of many factory SSD show the compatibility of their products with my laptop, but Manual HP said that the capacity of the SSD is 128 GB. The cat with the HP support was not helpful. Can someone help me: can I put with 512 gB SDD? I put divers or chipset to AHCI storage level?
Thank you
The 128 GB 2.5 inch SSD was just the biggest HP offered to sell the plant. If your laptop has a 2.5-inch SATA drive (some of them operate entirely off small mSATA WSSD readers) then you can replace it with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD of any size on the market. You will not have to pay anything in the BIOS. Your best way to upgrade is to clone the existing for the SSD drive. This should be easy, because they will be very close to the same size. You will need an adapter usb to SATA, but you probably want to get an ayway to continue using the HARD original as external storage drive.
I use Acronis 2014 Home Edition, but there are several other cloning there, some of them open-source (free). Windows 7 cloning on 2 hard drives of the same size is on the clone easier you will find.

HP ProBook 430 G3: USB recovery enough?
Hello!
I have a HP ProBook 430 G3 with Windows 7. I think install Ubuntu LTS 16.04 and wipe the drive completely in the process, including the recovery partition. If I for some reason any later wanting to 'factory reset' laptop / reinstall Windows 7, a USB key with recovery media will be sufficient to insert and boot from?
My thoughts are to use "Create recovery media" in "HP Recovery Manager' to create the USB said. Is it enough to get the laptop to factory condition?
Any help is appreciated!
Hello:
Yes, it's normal procedure to recover the PC when there is no recovery partition, or you replace the hard drive.
You can also order HP recovery media if the recovery USB disk that you create does not work.
In the USA/Canada the number to dial is: 1-800-334-5144.
Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer service rep.
If your laptop is still under warranty, HP can send you free of charge for you recovery disks, then you can just see if you can order a set for free while you can.

ProBook 6450 b (ATI): the upgrade of my Probook with mSATA SSD
Hello! ProBook 6450 b. I want to upgrade my computer with mSATA SSD drive. I've got slot free mini-PCIE (what is expected for the WWAN card). The problem is that I don't know if this Probook (updated of course!) BIOS supports modyfications like this. Can anyone help?
Kind regards!
I happen to be sitting here with his cousin the 6530 b working on it for a friend and I can tell you that it is earlier than mSATA WSSD readers. The crack is only for a WWAN card. If you put a disc mSATA in it the computer does not respond.

ProBook 430 m2 (NGFF) SSD
I recently bought a HP probook 430 G1 mobile.
It came with a standard 500 GB 5400 RPM HARD drive. I want to improve it with an SSD.
Obviously, I have the standard option of a SSD 2.5 ", but I know that this laptop has an empty slot, which should be a slot m2, according to its manual. Also, I know that one of the options when buying is to buy it with a 120 GB SSD m2.
If so, I suppose that it is possible to buy a drive for m2.
However I have a little fear that it won't work. Do guys experience with this notebook with SSD of m2 and can say with certainty that this option works?Thank you!
Not the m2 and the WWAN are different slots. WWAN is a single purpose can only be used for the WAN card.
The crack, I see in the manual, but without giving explanation lies directly above (towards the screen of) SATA hard drive Bay. If she's not here, it is on the motherboard.
I'd say having a boot for a mSATA option must mean the m2 slot and it would mean you can use it as main boot drive and still have a regular SATA drive for storage.

I have a MBP of 2009 end. I updated the material to 8 GB of ram with an SSD of 240gig. I want to run the new OSX, but is not on the list approved for the update. Anyone know why?
It is a decision that was made by Apple. El Capitan is the newest OSX that will support a 2009 MBP.
This is not uncommon. My 2006 MBP came with Tiger, but is limited to OSX Snow Leopard.
Old hardware ends up by becoming obsolete with newer technology.
Ciao.

I ask this question because I have now two computers with this problem.
A computer running Win7 and it used to work with the SSD but recently I wipe the drive and reinstall the OS and now it will not update windows.
The second computer is a laptop with WinVista final. This machine, I have improved since a physical hard drive to an SSD a month ago. This time, he made Windows update without problem. Now all of a sudden it will also not Windows update.
A third computer in my house that runs WinVista on a physical drive will be the Windows Update now without any problems.
So the only link I see is the SSD...
I replied to your other thread on this issue, but in the case where you'd miss it, I copied and pasted what I wrote here.
FIXED!
My laptop is fixed and is installing new updates (I probably Jinx it now and it will come with an error).
What I did ask the help desk where you chat with a microsoft technician, they take control of remote access from my laptop, and after about an hour of playing around with it (I tried to follow what they were doing - many command prompt and things) they have restarted and said it should be good now. I was very doubtful, because it just shows the same page hanging so thought I would not want to go back and ask them again the next day, but I left it overnight and here this morning there were some updates 208 ready and waiting!
The technician was really helpful, they offered me paid a pension of microsoft (I think they must do this in standard), but I politely declined and they were wearing on fixing it free in any case for me!
They gave me a few options also, they said that if they had done did not work, then I could try searching with an ethernet cable (sometimes a more stable connection is all you need) or if it does not, they offered me a newer version of windows 7, which had all updates already downloaded if I wanted to do an OS reinstall everything (I said I prefer not the) do that but it was nice to have the option, if everything else has failed). They also said they would offer phone support for free all the reinstall if I need assistance.
He also confirmed that they solve this problem a lot and it was certainly not an error at the end of microsoft, or anything to do with the SSD/HDD, etc..
Overall, really impressed with the service of help desk, I highly recommend asking them if you still need help. Go here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/contactus?wa=wsignin1.0# and click on "services and applications" to open a window where you can chat.
One thing though, once that my laptop had found all of the updates, I clicked on install and it came with the error message 80240016. I Googled, followed the instructions on this link here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/windows-update-error-80240016 and it worked perfectly the second time around.
Just to confirm, now that I've finished writing this post, my updates have completely installed!
Hope it will be useful to anyone still hurt!

With the pc starts and fully functional, the installed fingerprint reader work corretly. If I stop the laptop and I reboot, it still works and I can unlock / connection using the fingerprint. If I reboot manually or if the system restarts for example because updates are installed, the fingerprint stop working. So I need to reinstall the driver using the feature "repair driver."

HP Probook 430 G2: Audio problem
I got my new laptop (HP Probook 430 G2) barely 4 days ago and I already had a problem with it.
I find this question every time, when I try to listen to music etc., headphones or 5.1 speakers (both using 3.5 mm jack).

This problem came a bit annoying on a long term, so I hope someone can help me with this problem

Satellite R630-155 - fan is too loud and SSD update
I am the owner of a Toshiba Satellite R630-155 (Core i5-480). My problems are:
1. the fan is too loud and never stops. In normal operation (navigation and General Office work) there is a constant high pitch noise which is audible three to four meters in a desktop - high load environment, you just can't take it anymore! The fan never stops... even when you do nothing...
2. the heat is a big problem. The bottom of the laptop is overheated constantly and I have to place on my desk so that the lower left corner is outside the table, so it can breathe fresh air from below - otherwise, the temperature rises and the (noisy) fan is unable to follow. When I work with the laptop sitting on a couch, I place a thick book between the laptop and my legs. The book must be thick (more than one inch) with hard covers, otherwise the heat going through the book!
3. last (but not least, I will mention the biggest problems here) that's the problem with the installation of the SSD. I bought a used Corsair F80 (80 GB SSD) from a friend, but I was unable to use it with the Toshiba - BIOS not detect the disc. I tried to install all the latest updates for portable and SSDS but I had no success. Then I put the disc and I bought a brand new Zalman 128 GB SSD (SSD0128N1 Sandforce) but I had exactly the same problem. I contacted my local support Toshiba and after much conversation, the only answer I got is that the laptop is not compatible with these SSDS, and it is acceptable by Toshiba and not their problem. They told me that if I need an SSD upgrade I cannot go for the Toshiba SSD that is installed on the portege series, which is sold by Toshiba for a ridiculously expensive price - about $500 for 128 GB. I contacted the European support center and I got the same exact answer. I searched the Internet and found someone else with exactly the same problem with a Corsair 128 GB SSD - he concluded that the laptop detects the SSD after ten to twenty resets. I tried and it was true - after a lot of restarts the detected disk Zalman laptop and I was able to successfully install Windows 7, but the process is unacceptable. Also the drive is rated by the sites official at the speed of an OCZ Vertex 2 128 GB (and a little better), but when I ran a cue point in the Toshiba, the results I got were less than half of the advertised speed. Same reference in another machine of the same disc, resulted in the announced speeds.
Shame for Toshiba...-beautiful design and portability, but all the rest is a big flaw. Their support in non-existent and they do not appreciate their customers. According to me, they stole my money and I will never buy a Toshiba laptop again.
Sorry for the big message, but I need, I warn potential customers. Can anyone help me with any of these problems? You also have the same problems?
To follow...
Hey Buddy,
With regard to the issue of fan and the heat: you did it BIOS update? A friend told Satellite R630 too and he told me that the fan with the new BIOS version 2.10 activity is reduced. In addition, the laptop is colder than before so I recommend to install this update. You can download the update of the BIOS here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download driversBut before you start the update of the BIOS, you should consider the following tips:
-Run update as an administrator only
-Unzip all files from zip archive before launching the update file
-Close all running programs as the antivirus and firewall
-Make sure the battery is fully chargedWith regard to the SSD it s still a little complicated to install 3rd party products and no one can guarantee that these parts would not work. You're always on the side safely with original spare parts from Toshiba.
All you can do is to install the new firmware for SSDS and hope that it works, but who knows maybe the BIOS update will help you also in this case ;)

Can I change hard drive with an SSD in Toshiba NB100?
The hard drive in this model is the same size as SSD 2.5 drive "?Hello
As far as I know the laptop supports the disk HARD 2.5 SATA.
I think you could use a SATA SSD drive. Usually some SSDS require the firmware update but this should be provided by the manufacturers of SSD drives. -
