HP ProBook s 4530: Missing RAID in BIOS option?

Short version: storry Long runs, I installed a 32 GB msata ssd in a laptop HP 4530 s to activate technology Intel Rapid Start in order to start and run more quickly. (I already did this on a Dell laptopp and know how to do it).  I installed all the drivers from neccecery, but when I went to the BIOS to set the SATA RAID mode, the option wasn't there.  He showed only IDE and SATA. I read on the forums of verious it may be possible that HP has disabled this option.

Is this true?

I do somethig wrong?

Is there a way to activate it?

Long version: after that I bought a 23 gb msata ssd and opened to the top of the laptop, I noticed that HP do not solder the socket to the motherboard msata... the space is there but the plastic bushing is not.

After buying a HARD Drive Caddy and a Msata to SATA Adapter, I replaced the optical drive with it. Kicked upwards and the ssd showed and it works. but when I wnet in the BIOS to change the SATA RAID mode, the RAID option was missing.

Yes that's exactly what I was going to suggest. The regular mechanical drive 5400 RPM in the optical drive adapter will be purely for storage. The SATA-I connection is fast enough to play audio and video, etc. If you do something like video editing, encoding or Photoshop which requires a fast disk access do the SSD.

  • Satellite U840W - no RAID on BIOS option after PC repair

    Hello

I bought a U840W of August from a British seller on eBay (although I live in France). After a few months of work perfectly, he had some water damage, and I sent it to Toshiba for repair. Apparently because my warranty was valid in the United Kingdom, they gave to CONTROLS for repair (a company that sells PC Toshiba parts). They changed the motherboard (I think twice, because I had to send it because the fan was not working and they said they changed the motherboard again).

So after getting it back finally with the fan, I notice that the startup is very slow (30 sec instead of 10), and also, it was a bit slower. So I update all my drivers and notice that the caching SSDS does not work (using the Intel Rapid Storage Technology technology), initially, he showed the SSD as unknown but then after completely with diskpart, it showed as available (for storage, but not for caching) ", this means no acceleration tab).

So after reading a lot, I enter the BIOS and see that I have had no RAID option for the SATA controller, only AHCI and compatibility (IDE).

Don't you think that they put the wrong mother with RAID disabled?
My BIOS version is also 6.90 and I find only 6,80 BIOS for my computer, don't you think they have access to the latest version of the BIOS, or simply that they have put another motherboard?

Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to 6.80 (I don't know if it will help to solve it but maybe)?

I didn't contact Toshiba on the phone because it's quite expensive, I preferred to ask your opinions before here.

    Thanks in advance

    > Do you think they put the wrong mother with RAID disabled?
    No, I don't think so.

As far as I know after a replacement of SSD or HARD disk on the Mobile Satellite U840W the RAID mode is configured and TSRI (quick start of Intel technology) is not available.

To rebuild mode factory RAID, RAID mode should be rebuild and TSRI must be activated using special tools.
But as far as I know that this can be done by the maintainer agreed Toshiba.

You should get in touch with the guys once more and must explain the cell phone number.
I guess they should know how to solve this problem.

I had withdrawn any partition of the hard drive and I was faced with the question where the installation of windows 8 is not installed on my hard drive.

After reading on the internet, I turned on the Legacy startup mode and now I'm stuck... Any help?

There is not a major problm causing due to the UEFI system and / GPT disk partition

Here you must follow the following steps

    (1) trees all turn off your laptop.

    (2) press power button and then immediately press the esc key and look at bottom left of the screen you will see interrupt the system startup or similer.

    (3) then you will see the list of commands on the upper left corner as recovery system, boot, bios menu etc. depend on your model, then choose the bios option now that you've opened your bios

If you do not see the order list or system will boot OS then repeat these steps

  • ProBook 4530 s: win 10 results ProBook s 4530 in no Wi - Fi

    Good afternoon, all!

I tried to upgrade a ProBook s 4530 on Windows 10.  Everything looks good, until I try to connect to Wi - Fi.  The widget simply says 'Impossible to connect wireless' and there is no showing why Event Viewer entry.

The wired adapter works fine.  They both have the Realtek card.  I tried the driver Windows 8.1 without success.  The hard switch is activated and the LED is white.  The BIOS is the latest & greatest.  Also triple-checked the router password without the THST wire - OK, too!

Without indication of the BONE as to what is happening, I may restore Win 7 and either start again or give up.  I have an other s I tried to level; the without wire was fine, but there was something in the services that refresh the office and break the RDP and VPN connections.  So I'm a little worried that these laptops are not always stretch to win 10.

Tips to win 10 to run on this?

    Thanks for all the research!

    Hello:

If your laptop is RTL8188CE wireless card, it does not work on W10.

I didn't even know that there was a W8.1 driver for him.  I thought that this card made up to a maximum of W8.

Why upgrade to the Intel card wlan card does not appear in the maintenance manual... Chapter 3, page 25.

That should work well on W10.  Not only that, but then you get a dual band with bluetooth card.

    Intel Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 HP Part # 636672-001

The only caution is you must get this card, and it must have the HP part # on it or it will not work because of the white list of BIOS HP has on these models.

You should be able to find opportunity but in State tested and functional at a great price on eBay by questioning by the part number.

I'll make sure that you see the HP part number indicated for the item in the picture list.

  • Good question Probook s 4530: partial Solution, need the rest

    Hi all

Just took delivery of a Probook s 4530 about 5 days ago and it is quite the spectator and performer. Love everything about it, but the display quality may have better brightness and contrast. My only gripe, really.

But it's not what it is! Here's the deal:

Unpacking of the laptop for the first time and do initial set, before she even started in Windows for the first time, he had a pretty bad glitch audio / video. A "hiccup" would be an understatement. More like a cough, sometimes a hacking. An audible ' buzz' and accompanying video stuttering if I look at the video and just an audible buzz if listening to music. This seems to happen randomly and at various intervals. But it would take place in less than a minute when you listen or look at a media and continue throughout.

I found a thread here where a guy had the same problem for one different model, other Chorus, solutions banttered on and finally he came to it and it works:

    Disable the wireless device.

At first, I tried to simply unplug the connection to the Local network, but no go. Disable all of the device and the problem goes away. Tested over and over again. When I connected to the internet it messes up in 20 seconds. But unplug / turn off the wireless card and watch a whole movie without hitch and wells, problem found. And I hope that this thread others help find a partial solution, also.

But as said, this is only a partial solution. The internet has streaming video, music streaming, movies, TV, games, all these goodies audio / video, I like! But I can't enjoy if connected to the internet, because the computer coughs and if not connected the computer didn't cough... but I'm not connected! Ugh!

So I wonder what's my next move? What are some compatible drivers / updated drivers for my card which can solve the problem of total and won't mess up my computer? I think that perhaps something different for audio and wireless? But which? Oh of course, Windows says they are the "latest drivers', but who cares what Windows?  I would like to take care of this in one fell swoop if possible without too much guessing and trial and error. Right now I have:

    Adapter wireless Atheros AR9285 802.11 b/g/n

    and

    Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 + HS adapter

    and

    High definition audio

I don't know the exact drivers because I'm away from the laptop atm.  But I think they can be changed or uninstalled / reinstalled. I want to just do it without problem. And I only BT could be important, as BT does not work without the card wireless enabled. So I mentioned. Which is another subject of concern. To disable the device (wireless) for watching videos or listening to music does mean no internet OR bluetooth, apparently.

I'm the guy at home, to Midway. Help!

  • 4730 proBook s: what version of the BIOS allows the activation of virtualization technologies?

I use Oracle VirtualBox with 7 VM Linux on my ProBook 4730 of s (OS is Windows 7 64 bit). Somewhere around the BIOS update F.20 my machines virtual Linux no longer works, because of virtualization technology has not been enabled in the BIOS. I tried to enable it in the BIOS settings, but he refused to be activated. So I followed the instructions to return to the correct known copy last BIOS on the recovery partition, and yet I could not enable Virtualization Technology in the older BIOS revision.

Then I went the drivers and software from the HP Web site section for my ProBook and downloaded the revision of BIOS Feb 2011 (apparently the earliest possible review of BIOS for my laptop model) and then flashed my BIOS with this revision. And virtualization technology setting STILL refused to activate it.

I've seen in this thread in HP forums:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and/HP-ProBook-4730s-BIOS-cannot-enable-virt...

anyone else with the model of my laptop had the same problem and the same symptoms: VMs worked up to a point in time and at that time there the Virt. Technology implementation option in the BIOS could not be reactivated.

    So my two questions are:

Any available for this model of laptop BIOS revision allows the activation of the option of setting of virtualization technology?

    and,

In the event of a revision, which one is it and can provide you a link where I can find a downloadable copy of it?

    LTW

OK, after you call the tech support of HP, I found the answer to my version of this problem. When I tried to activate the virtualization technology in the BIOS, I was logging in BIOS using my account in the BIOS. At least for me (and probably for others too, since it is advice from HP support gave me) it was bad. You must log in with the account Guest User of the BIOS BIOS, and when you do, a lot of parameters of the BIOS, including virtualization technology, can be turned on/off. So my problem is solved.

  • HP ENVY AE101NX: How to default BIOS Options of OS to SSD Boot Manager

    Hi all

I added new SSD in my laptop and also migrated OS from the HARD drive to the SSD.

I have checked and tested F9 I'm able to start properly in this new SSD with incredible speed and no problem.

Now, I wanted to put this SSD as a default value in the boot options where currently it is showing the HDD and SSd. But this submenu of the OS boot manager does not allow me to change the sequence.

It shows both and by default it is starting HARD operating system disk, unless I manually interrupt using the Esc and F9.

From now the HDD and SSD are available in my laptop with OS.

Could someone please suggest How can I do this SSD as boot by default?

    Thank you

Thank you all for your comments.

I have fixed this issue of cleanup/formatting my drive HARD SSD is ready with full operating system installation.

Here are the steps that I followed before posting this question here and after this announcement.

    (1) the SSD inserted in one of the port SATA m2 available in my laptop.

    (2) using the EaseUS backup and recovery tool, I've migrated my windows 10 BONES of the HDD to the SSD.

    (3) using the BIOS options (Esc + F9) I did so that I am able to start my SSD system without HARD drive. This is where I posted here, the question on how to remove the HARD drive in the list and the default at startup SSD.

    (4) removed the laptop HARD drive and ensured that I am able to start properly the SSD HARD drive function.

    (5) fixing the HARD drive using an adapter (USB 3.0) external HARD disk for laptop and same formatted. Also deleted all partitions.

    (6) then inserted the HDD clean even in my laptop with existing SSD.

    (7) now I'm able to boot directly into the SSD as there is no bootable/EFI OS available on the HARD disk.

Now, it's showing only 1 option even if I go to BIOS Esc + F9.

    My problem is solved.

    Thank you
