HP ProDesk 600 G1 - unable to boot with USB

Hello

I received a new HP ProDesk 600 G1 yesterday and have had no luck getting it to begin on a USB key or external hard drive USB.  I normally install our image Corp. (Win 7 x 64 business) via the USB port.  In the Setup program, the key USB and USB HD are detected, but no matter what I put in the boot order when selecting F9 for boot options, the USB device is not available.

Suggestions?

Thank you...

Problem solved.  In the Bios under Boot Secure - Legacy Support, Setup I changed to "Enabled".

For Secure Boot, I changed it to disabled.

  • HP 15 r036tu: unable to boot from USB

I'm unable to boot from a USB key, I started correctly the USB, it works on other laptops but not on mine. I also changed my boot order in the bios, but still, I'm not able to boot from USB. I read somewhere that it's because of security windows 8.1 can you help me with this.  Thanks in advance

The trick to this is to use a utility that will make your USB boot EFI and MBR.

The following link goes to a third party site with free downloadable open source utilities to do exactly that and even more.

    Hello

Initially, I bought 810 rotate with 8.1 Pro window.

I've recently upgraded to 64-bit Pro 10 Windows.

The problem is that I can not boot from USB. Computer recognizes the USB drive but when I click F9 and enter in bootmode... He acknowledges as "drive hard usb ' but when I select it... it has no effect and does not start.

Could someone help me solve the problem? I need to be able to boot from USB drive...

    Thank you

Windows 10 64-bit with UEFI can only boot from a GPT partition. It may be that your boot USB drive is partitioned as MBR [Master Boot Record] and should be partitioned GPT [Table of Partition GUID] for UEFI.

  • Unable to boot from USB or ODD after that windows 8.1 update on P850 - 31L

    Hello

    I just updated a P850 - 31L for windows windows 8.1 8 by the windows store.

Before the update, I was able to boot from a USB key by pressing F12 during the boot upward.

After the update I was more able to boot from the USB drive. Select the USB key by changing the boot order in the setup of the BIOS via F2 or pressing F12 is no longer works.

Booting from ODD also is no longer possible.

The version of the BIOS is 6.70 and does not secure boot must be disabled. However the DVD and the USB I tried are signed Ubuntu 12.10, who worked before the upgrade. Fastboot in windows 8.1 is disabled.

Then, this seems to be a bug in the BIOS Toshiba? Or a windows 8.1 update the BIOS or the boot EFI in a way partition replace the BIOS setting? Really stuck here, does not seem to be much information.

Any ideas or help would be very appreciated!

    Thank you

    Michael

Update: I just tried to boot from the DVD of windows recovery 8 Toshiba and this does more or the other.

    OK I fixed that.

First of all, it is to note that it is possible to turn off secure in the 6.70 BIOS startup.
However this option is only available when the password is not defined in the Security menu.

After activation or deactivation of the password a reboot is necessary to make the secure boot toggle option is available or not.

It's good that I guess I assume that it can prevent secure boot are disabled when the machine is running. However this does not seem to have been associated with this problem.

I selected the option "reset to factory defaults" in the output menu.
The machine is then able to boot from USB and DVD. The boot order was also respected.

Perhaps upgrading windows 8.1 corrupt invisible somehow the BIOS settings. Or maybe it was just a stranage coincidence that the BIOS itself corrupted during the installation. Anyway this factory reset fixed.

  • EliteBook 840: unable to boot from usb flash

    Hello:

I'm tempted to boot from USB drive to install a new version of Windows 7. When I press F9, I have only two startup options:

    -Computer portable hard drive

    -Computer laptop Ethernet

The USB boot option do not appear.

My BIOS Version is: 01.04 worm. M71 (24/02/2015)

Note: I tested my USB key installation in the other laptop and it works very well.

    Thank you for your support.

Yes, I know Rufus. How I said, I tried my USB in another laptop (a HP ENVY m4 laptop) and work very well. The difference is that the HP ENVY gave me the option to boot from USB and the EliteBook does not.

I realized that, since the post, you did.

I suggested RUFUS and EFI create setup of windows due to the startup problem, that you have with the Elitebook 840.

It may be just what you need for this particular laptop.

If you want this to work, then you must be flexible and willing to solve the problems.

    Hi philetus,

Yes, my USB is bootable. No, I don't 't tried on another computer because I do not have access to another at the moment, but I the Solver the problem myself. Lockily, I pressed the 'hard drive' option in the start menu. Was very happy to see a submenu that lists all my readers including USB! I personally leading this a minor fraw of design on this BIOS. There had been much less confusing right write 'UBS' option in the menu preceiding. In addition, the manual (even the Service Manual!) isn't mark just all BIOS options.

In any case, despite this "flaw", the machine seemed to be of good quality construction and works very well. I have 2 years now running Win XP and Linux. I am very satisfied with such an affordable second hand computer!

Thanks much philetus for your quick response

  • Iconia Tab 8 W unable to boot from USB

    Hello

I'd love to start my Iconia Tab 8 W of a USB, UEFI has the option to boot from USB or PXE so that I do not suspect that it supports that in one way or another.

Currently I have no luck with a simple OTG drive, I am able to access it from the same created the boot of Windows media, but no chance to see the drive in the menu of the UEFI (even the start menu only sees the Windows boot loader).

Anyone has any ideas, how to proceed? I don't see any dock available for the Tablet here, but if there are some I would be headed in the direction (even if it is part of another series of the device).

    Thank you

In fact I find the question why the installation CD is not recognized.

Apparentely UEFI AEP 64-bit systems, most, but here, on this tablet UEFI is 32 bits, which is quite rare. I start different bootloader (rEFInd) who works with IA32, and is now working on how to start the * bleep * core so I can install the system. If anyone has any ideas I'm open.

I'll keep this open and update once that I make it work with a solution how to install Linux on this...

  • Unable to boot from USB 3.0 E430

    Hello community!

I recently got a ThinkPad E430, and I love it.  I have a minor problem with the boot.

As a Linux user, I regularly boot from usb and cd while trying different distributions and whatnot.  However, I discovered that I can't boot from my USB 3.0 ports.  Not only that, but my computer does not start if I have nothing plugged into them.

I first thought that I had faked my dd command in the transfer of the image, but the usb key works from the 2.0 port. So I thought maybe it was the usb key itself, but this happens with all my usb 2.0 flash drives and 3.0.

I noticed a recent bios update a few days, but I don't want to go through the trouble, if she does not really bring all the benefits.  Actually looking at the itt changelog says that it only supports to the B430.

I guess I would really just know if others in the face of this problem.  Thank you!

My E430 fine boots of USB3.0 ports.

  • Updated BIOS for a boot with USB (external)?

I have a laptop of G50-104NR with Windows Vista Home Premium.

It doesn't seem to be a BIOS update available at HP when you run the update from HP. As best I am able to determine, the BIOS does not support boot from an external USB device. Does anyone know of a source of an update of BIOS or other workaround to allow booting from a USB device?

    Thanks in advance.

the update of hp does not always show the BIOS updates.

Enter your product number in the search box at top right of this page, select software downloads and the pilot, then the OS you are using.

you will then to the drivers page for your laptop.

  • Unable to boot from USB thumbdrive running ESXi 5

I have a workstation xw6600 I used as my sandbox for ESXi from 4.0. So I decided it was time to become familiar with ESXi 5, so before starting to run our upgrade to ESXi 5 in all our servers I wanted to update my own sandbox. I tried first of all to make an update to 4.1 update 1 who does not like I special HP drivers installed, so I decided to make a brand new install ESXi 5 using VMware bootable CD. The installation seems to be successful, but when the supposed to reboot from the USB system I get the typical mistake of the BIOS indicates that no BONES were found "no disk system or disk error." ». For a year I've been running ESXi in this system without problems. I am currently starting from 4.1 update 1 from a USB, if I look that the problem was the installation process in my sandbox (after hours of troubleshooting and several creations of CD), so I did an installation in one of our server (DL360G7). Everything went find I could only start in ESXi 5 no problem (using the same CD I create above). I took this USB to my sandbox and tried to boot from it and still the same error. I can not even boot my laptop from the USB. Does anyone know what changes to the startup procedure in ESXi 5 compare to ESX 4.0?

From my understanding, if you create a new 5.0 installation, then it will only start using UEFI.

However, if you upgrade an ESXi in 5.0, it retains the original MBR boot.

    See you soon.

  • Unable to boot from USB - Windows 8

I install my Thinkpad Yogas with 8.1 clean Windows. I have created a bootable USB disk, which works very well because it is one of the Yoga, but fails on another, only difference being that the second has latest version of BIOS 1.24.

Is there a problem with this BIOS, or am I missing something?

Is it possible to restore the BIOS? I know I can't go below 1.22 after I've updated, not even sure if this would be the problem.

  • Unable to boot from usb drive on lenovo ideapad z585

    Hello

I created a Memtest + USB key which works very well on my desktop PC but it will fail to start on my Lenovo Ideapad Z585, it just goes right to the quick connection of Windows 8 despite pressing F12 and selecting the Generic USB 2.0 device in the boot device menu.

    Any suggestions please? Thank you.

Edit - Boot USB is enabled in bios.

Edit - the USB is detected as it is listed in the start menu and the bios but cannot simply start and I like I said before, it starts up fine on my desktop PC.

Edit - I tried an another USB drive, the same problem.

A way of knowing whether worked or not, usb recovery flash drive support and is to make an another bootable usb flash drive to test whether or not it is the laptop.

The fact that you could not start the flash from another PC drive leads me to believe that the creation of recovery has failed.

Here is the link to the instructions and tools you need to make a bootable flash drive general.

The two files that you need are at the bottom of the page.  The bootme.zip file is just the BACK files that you extract, copy and paste once the other file actually formats the flash drive to make it bootable.  In this way, it is a speedy BACK and from there you can just go out.

I use this tool to update the firmware on HP Business Desktop PC processor.
