HP Recovery Manager is in Chinese language, problem I do not know Chinese.

Hello everyone,

My boss bought this Presario B1296TU in Hong Kong and the product number is FF421PA #AB5.  My boss want to format using the HP Recovery Manager because he knows the problem on his Windows Vista.  We do the F11 and we enter the HP Recovery Manager but the problem is that we do not understand the words appear on it because his Chinese on characters.

Is there a way to make it in English?

Is there a picture of the Recovery Manager User Guide so I can follow it even I do not understand the words?

We remove the laptop HD, and allows us to save pregnant files for us. We see the recovery of the Presario HD Manager files. Is there a possibility that we can replace it with the English version? Where can I download the files?

I hope someone can help me here...

Hi all

Sorry for the delay in posting here, I managed to solved the day I post the problem, here's how.

I said on the forum I have remove my HD to my laptop and use speaker and connect it to another computer.  When you make that their will be 2 partition appears on the computer, the Recovery Manager partition and the Partition for the Windows System.

All the files inside the partition Recovery Manager are in hidden files, you need to configure the Folder Options - Show hidden files (this can be done on Windows XP and below, I don't know if there is the same option as Windows XP, Windows Vista)

After the display of hidden files, you need to look for a file with extension ".log" (I think "master.log", I'm sorry I forgot the exact name of the file). This file has an icon like Notepad, open it, and you will see that this file is a load of the Recovery Manager configuration.

Search for language line (its on the top line of the option), replace the words after the equals sign '=' with English. Then that's it, replace the HD from your laptop and then do the F11... tadaaa... her English... ^_^.

I am happy that I have discovered this by my own... because of the curiosity I could solve the problem.

Please post other solutions to this problem, or more user-friendly guide for this solution. Thank you.

First of all, please note that this is * not * Microsoft you are addressing here. It is a forum for peer support. We just are all users of this version of Windows here, help each other if and when we can. We are not Microsoft employees (not even those of us with 'Microsoft MVP"behind our names; it is an honorary title for having provided useful advice) other than a casual employee.

Second, your hanging up was definitely the right thing to do. Microsoft makes never calls it, and the call was from a crook. It became a very common scam these days.

How to order recovery media (see the following URL)

HP recovery media is not a downloadable product. It is provided as a physical DVD or usb flashdrive product.

  • Recovery Manager on 3400 microtour - Win 7

I have a Compaq nx 7400 Notebook PC with Win XP and on which there is an excellent Recovery Manager (think of the app) which allows to not rebuild alone in factory conditions, but also allows the creation of new recovery points, and also a complete copy of the hard drive, so in case of crash we didn't have to reinstall all the software that you have purchased from the PC was new.

I just bought a Microtour HP Pro 3400 business running Win 7: this only appears to allow the creation of recovery DVD for conditions bought. There seems to be no system to create new recovery points, or a complete copy of the hard drive as was the case with the Compaq 7400 - is that correct? If so, why this useful utility was left, and what can we do about it?

This functionality is provided by Windows 7. Please see Windows 'Help and Support' for more information. Search for "Help and Support" 'image of the system', 'restore point', etc.

  • USB keys - problem with the Recovery Manager

I bought a 16GB Kingston DataTraveler 112 USB key so I could copy the recovery as a backup image. He acknowledged the USB key and showed that the recovery image has been slightly more than 11 GB. But when he started to format the USB key, it returns to the previous screen and asking more of the car. At the bottom of the screen, he said to contact the HP Support, but it gives me an error message. Now when I try the Recovery Manager it does not recognize the USB at all.

Before that, I had bought another 16 GB USB - don't remember what brand. I have 5 other USB drives, but they are all small, except a 32 GB Kingston DT101 G2 which does not work on this computer, even if it worked on my old computer (Pavilion w/Vista Home Premium) without problem. All these USBs, including the new Kingston are for USB 2.0.

Operating system is Windows 8.1 64-bit on the desktop HP Pavilion 500 - A60. I tried the problem that USB keys in all 4 ports (2.0 and 3.0). Also in that I plug into a port to give me 3 USB ports, also used on my previous computer.

Is it possible that this computer does not recognize Kingston or some other brands of USB thumb drives?

The trick to this is to use a USB 2.0 port and use a non-windows 8 certified thumbdrive. If the USB flash drive shows as a 'removable device' there should be no problem in the use of the media to create a recovery media

I had a lot of success with a 16 GB Transcend USB 3.0 flash drive.

I own a couple of DataTraveler flash drives and had the same lack of success, creation of recovery media that you did. I have had zero success with 3.0 of Sandisk Extreme usb flash drives

  • Problems with Recovery Manager and wireless

    Hey everybody,

I have an a HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx with Vista 64 bit.

My HARD drive crashed after that the computer was hit. I bought a replacement hard drive, but could not use the HP Recovery Manager because my recovery disks were lost when I recently moved into a new House.

I managed to get the Vista desktop of base up and running again, but without video card or wireless capability. To resolve this problem, I tried to re - install my drivers for hardware manually via

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?OS=2100&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en&sw_lang=&product=3860...

However, whenever I try to install Recovery Manager, I get say an error message: "this Setup program cannot be installed on this system, Installation with abandon!" InstallShield.

Also, I tried to download and install all drivers wireless on the HP site, but I can't always operational wireless capability. Even after that I installed all drivers, Device Manager still does not recognize the wireless device.

Any thoughts on solutions to these problems? Buy the HP recovery disk or install a new operating system Windows 7 would help solve these problems? Is it possible any other hardware become damaged when the computer was hit, and that is what causes these problems? Thank you.

    Vidya,

This problem solved-I had the drivers for the wireless and then updated the rest of the material from there. Thanks again for your help!

  • Problems accessing the HP Recovery Manager after the installation of new copy of Windows 7.

I have the HP Pavilion dv6 (2043us) originally with Windows 7 Home Premium. A recent storm crossed in my area, which seems to me to be the cause of a corrupt hard drive file that prevented Windows startup. My extra fathers using copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (is a prominent IT guy for his company, he has a lot to lose) I decided to install it from that rather than using the HP Recovery Manager in order to save my files (Windows Startup Repair and system restore failed, and to restore the default factory was not desirable) as I mentioned it because of my desire to save my documents) I have installed on the same partition as the original windows, allowing files to be viewed in Windows.old.

However, after all that, I came to the will to restore the default settings. However, after you press (esc) and (f11) to access the Recovery Manager, it is bring up the Windows Startup logo and the login screen. Is it possible to access the Recovery Manager and restore the default settings? If so, how should I do this? As I said, I left all the original parts intact, so I do not think it is possible after some research, but I'm not sure how to start the process.

This method to get the active recovery partition was first introduced to me by Cheryl here on the site. It may or may not work.

Right-click on computer and click Manage > search in the list on the left, and then open disk management. You should see the recovery partition it. Click right and whether it is active and the next time that you start it up, it should boot into the recovery partition and restore back to the factory.

  • Problem with Recovery Manager (recovery failed)

Guys, I can't successfully complete my system recovery.

    Here is a detail of the event-by-event (I have a Pavilion DV5):

-J' have Complete Recovery (recovery is complete appears...) "once the system reboots and you're done the first... »)
    -I restart
    -CMD.exe window appears
    -Software Installation HP window appears
-It restarts, a black window with HP Logo, and then Microsoft Corporation (from windows)
'Please wait while Windows configures your computer' (black screen)
-Please wait while Windows continues installing the computer (blue screen)
    -Restarts again
-black screen, mouse, windows logo appears, its beginning (home screen appears... Vista Home Premium)
-Windows installation window... "Windows is now put in place the following:"
    Pre-PININST (check)

    Preinstall the Software Installer 2
    Post PININST
    Check the power supply

When I hit the details, there are the following:
-ChkErrBB.CMD: Detects an error in the PININST-PBO.
    -ChKErrBB.CMD: Check C:/system.sav/logs/BurnBootWarn.log

I hit retry and the open CD and she has restarted the machine

And once again returning to the "Welcome to the Recovery Manager" screen of origin.

    How can I solve this?

    Thank you

I found far in front of her. Close the window with the 'X '. Do not hit try again or he'll just keep again. The box a few times during the process, but just keep hit X and it must cross. Worked for me!

I don't know if there are features or missing files because of the errors, but the system seems to work very well so far.

  • Laptop computer doesNot boot HP G62t-250. HP Recovery Manager not fixing no problem. Windws7 Hm Premium 64 bit

Computer laptop HP G62t-250 will not start. Does not recover. Windows 7 Home.

He continues to send me to the Recovery Manager.  I tried all the options except System Recovery HP Recovery Manager, b/c I don't want to lose my files (music, photos, work).  None of the other options seem to be working.

Microsoft System Restore is not helping and maintains loops back to HP Recovery Manager.

At the DOS prompt, dir on the C drive shows no files.

I would say pulling hard disk and backup of the data, so you don't lose it.  You can buy a USB to IDE SATA adapter & from a third party site to do so.  Then I try to run the recovery once you know that your data is safe.  If this does not work as you might need to call the 1-800-hp invent hp to make your machine.  Hope this helps
