hp_tools deleted (e)

I accidentally deleted the files inside the partition of Hp tools. How can I recover these files?

and these files are needed for the system or is it not important?
Please help me

my laptop is hp pavilion pavilion dv7

Windows 7 64 bit

Hello

Files in the HP_TOOLS partition allow a greater number of options of diagnosis in the f2 menu at startup and the possibility for the system Flash bios outside the Windows environment (which is generally safer).

You can recreate the necessary files by downloading and installing follows him utility - when the option appears, choose to create files on the hard drive.

HP_TOOLS installation program.

Kind regards

I recently bought a HP Probook 450 G0 and it came with SuSe Linux Enterprise 11. When I moved to Windows 7 I deleted all scores except HP_RECOVERY.  I am able to recover all the files in the HP_TOOLS Partition and I read that I need to copy in HP_RECOVERY.  I only had like 250-300 MB of free space of 4 GB in HP_RECOVERY and this is not enogh to store all files in HP_TOOLS. I'm also not able to extend the size of it in disk management. What should I do?

Download the UEFI since your Support page. It will create the HP_Tools partition:

  • 'HP_Tools' to delete and recreate it as a logical partition

Hello! I have to do some operations on the hard disk partitions. Now, I have 4 primary partitions: System, the partition with Win7, recovery and HP_Tools. I need an another primary partition, and I don't want to remove the HP_Tools! That's my idea:

    1. create an image of 'system' of the operating system on DVD and remove recovery;

    2. create a HP_Tools image and delete it.

    3. create an extended partition. Create a logical partition and then restore HP_Tools inside.

Thus, HP_Tools will keep its functions? Or it may not work correctly as a logical partition?

    Thank you

    Davide

Yes, you can create the recovery kit, and then remove the recovery Partition. Here is the link that has the steps to create and then how to use them in the future:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01895783

You can remove the HP tools partition and create it on a flash drive or USB key. Here is the link that will help you download the utility that will help you recreate HP tools partition on the disk on the flash drive or hard:

  • Deleted partition HP_Tools, upgrade to Windows 8

I have upgraded to Windows 8 Enterprise edition, with the hope of just checking out and returning to Windows 7 when the trial is up. Well, after an iso disk and installing Windows 8, I noticed that I had deleted the partition HP_Tools...

I need this partition to use for recovery.

Note that I made a disc of recovery using Hp Recovery Manager, when I bought my laptop but now Hp Recovery Manager is gone and I have a flash drive with unnecessary data (apparently). I downloaded and installed every update of the UEFI Bios, all the drivers for my laptop and the essensically it works PERFECTLY fine... but I can't use my recovery disk because I have no Hp Recovery Manager installed on my computer. When I tried I get the message "Softpaq not apply to the system, without HP Recovery Manager installed." I have Hp Recovery Manager NEED use my recovery disk.

I will note that I did successfully a NEW partition of HP_Tools, but technically it contains no useful data, a few things from BIOS and others, but not HP Recovery Manager.

Someone walk me through this please.

Thank you. I also have a

    HP Pavilion g6-1a60us...

I tried and failed to install ALL available software they had for my laptop, including the crappy stuff like Cyberlink webcam and other stuff but HP Recovery Manager, that's what I can't install

ANY help would be GREATLY apprecited.

You should not really Recovery Manager installed. USB flash recovery must be bootable and includes the Recovery Manager:

  • Partition accidentally deleted HP_TOOLS - HP Pavilion g6-1344ea

As said in the subject, accidentally deleted the partition.

    Hi mraxlee,

I saw your posts and I'll be happy to help you. Here different link to UEFI tools. Try and see if it will install properly for you. This is assuming you are using Windows 7, which is the case or you use another OS?

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&LC=en&softwareitem=VC-116854-1

If you use Windows 7, try the link above and let me know how it goes. You still have the possibility to restore the computer to factory settings using the DavidPK link, which I have also included below.

    HP_Tools partition has the Diagnostics

Recovery partition has the recovery that are accessible with a key F11 to restart Manager.

System partition is required by the operating system

C partition contains the operating system and is also where you store everything and run programs.

If you have created a recovery from USB or disk set with the HP retrieve creator of media already, then you can safely remove the recovery partition. Be aware that you will lose the built in functionality to have the Recovery Manager. F11 won't do anything.

  • Move HP_Tools

    Hello!

I saw in some of the messages people have asked what is 'HP_Tools' partition, and I realized that it's a software partition "help", so it can be deleted, but it is useful...

I need to create a new partition to a different OS, so I have to remove one of the 4 partitions that does not exist: that I can remove the "Hp_Tools" one, then put it in a new scope (I hope it's called so in English... Sorry, I am Italian) partition?

    THX in advance

    MB

Burn your Operating system recovery DVDs together and you will not have the content of recovery partition. The recovery DVDs will be the same as the contents of the partition and can be used to start the laptop for all reinstall.

Once you start to change the partitions of hard drive recovery partition function is broken anyway_so you need to burn the DVD before making any changes... little matter that you choose to use for Ubuntu.

  • HP_TOOLS (E) is almost full

I get notification that the HP_TOOLS (drive E :) is almost full. When I go to check it out, I realize I have two backups here. I got my dad's computer. Backups say 'Rob - HP' and the other 'Alex-HP. The 'Rob - HP", a last change in 2012, and mine was in September. If I don't need my father, "Rob - HP", could I just delete it and keep mine? Anything on the computer mess up because of this?

Yes, you can delete the folder. You should not store your backup in the tools partition. Consult the following links depending on the operating system you are using for more information and next steps.

HP PC - error: not enough disk space. You run lack of drive on the recovery (Windows 8) space
Recovery disk space messages? The recovery partition displays this message if it is used. You should not use the recovery partition to store files.

  • Partition HP_TOOLS after update from HP System Diagnostics (UEFI)?

    Hello

I bought a Compaq HP 6730 s about 2 and one and a half years. Last time I installed Windows was in 2009, when I switched to Win7 Pro x 64. I usually keep my system up to date so I decided to use HP Softpaq Download Manager to see what is new because I have not done in a year about. By updating HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) I noticed the installer to begin creating a new partition using DISKPART. It has 2 GB of E:\ and created a new partition HP_TOOLS (H:\).  First of all, was it really necessary given that I had only 3.5 GB of free space on E:\? In addition, the old version of HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) has not used a separate partition. Secondly: is it really necessary to keep or is the only partition something temporary created to facilitate the update process (although this makes no sense to me), meanning can I simply delete and merge into E:\.

Third: in the case where HP_TOOLS is not delete recomanded, at least hide by using the local Group Policy Editor?

    Thank you!

The latest version of the installer of HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) gives an option for installation on drive hard or on a USB flash drive according to your needs. I personally recommend not not to delete the partition HP_TOOLS as its useful during the process of updating the BIOS in case if you want to do a restore etc.

HP_TOOLS partition is also useful in F2 (the System Diagnostics) market in the case of any emergency if necessary.

  • HP_TOOLS (D)?

Sorry if this post is in the wrong place.

But my computer has a drive d, with all these things inside this sick list below, my computer continuously tries to store the backups in the small space that remains even if I turned off twice now.

I thought it was supposed to be my recovery disk, but when I tried to run the recovery earlier, he said that it is not the files of recovery or some nonsence on this drive so im wondering what all the stuff what it IS?

I could delete it and actually use the backup drive?

    read the folders/files/txt/contain

    Hewlett-Packard

    -BIOS

    BIOSUpdate

    QuickWeb

    SystemDiags

    HP_WSD.dat

    HPSF_Rep

    MediaID.bin

    Hi @KurruMitsumi

Welcome to the HP Forums! I see you have a few questions about the HP_Tools partition. It is directly where UEFI Diagnostic tools are stored in order to test your computer for hardware failures. I recommend that you do not save anything him or remove anything.

  • Which is exactly the HP_TOOLS partition? Do I need?

Hi, I bought 21/08/2012 , the HP Pavilion dv6-6c01ev Notebook (laptop),

and the hard drive has a partiton with name: HP_TOOLS (e :)) )

Inside in this partition, it has 3 elements:

1 folder with the name "Hewlett-Packard",

1 .dat file with the name 'HP_WSD.dat,'

1 text file with the name 'HPSF_Rep', (inside there that one day, the next day I bought - 22/08/2012)

In the folder "Hewlett-Packard", it's another 4 files:

1 folder named "BIOS" => inside that he has another 3 files: current - news - previous

1 folder named 'BIOSUpdate' => inside there different files...

1 folder named iside "QuickWeb" => there and files and folders...

1 folder named 'SystemDiags' => inside inside, it has various files

So I would you please explain to me, if you can answer me, because I'm confused

    1) where is useful this partition ? and all these folders and files...

    2) I need this partition? If I delete this partition, will I have problems in the future?

    3) is so important that partition? (as the recovery partition)

    Thank you for your help...

And also, I just noticed that the Inthie partition file system is FAT32 and not NTFS...

The partition is used for some things

1 stores advanced (advanced hardware diagnostics) UEFI bios tools.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01443317#N1218

2 is also used during an update of the bios to store the update of the bios and the bios saved which will be replaced, it is crucial to have if for some reason, the bios update fails and the laptop doesn't start, you can restore the backed up old bios, without this partition being present during the bios update You cannot recover and you will have a useless PC. This partition HP_TOOLS also allows the bios to date outside of Windows, which is much safer.

  • HD partitions: delete & create

    Hello:

    I have these scores!

    1. What has for these partitions: System (G) + HP_TOOLS (J) + Local (Q). I want to delete them!
    2. How can I create just 2 go: & C, D, the first will include that the system! There is a good software (free or open source) to do?

    Thanks in advance

I used a program similar to partition magic, and it solve my problem

  • Parittions primary 4 - which is best to be deleted/changed in secondary

I have HP Pavilion Dm1, which comes with 4 partitions.

    1 system

2 no label of--> where is the operating system and data will...

    3 recovery

    4 HP_tools

I created the recovery USB. And at first, I wanted to delete the partition of HP_tools but then I see that HP Quickweb is here as well as some tools.

The laptop comes with windows 7 Starter Ed (32bitos) and 2 GB of RAM (can go up to 8GB). I want to install linux 64-bit and icnrease ram (as I intend to use the full potential of the processor). I also want to keep win7 starter since I paid for it and it might be useful for certain tasks.

The problem is preformatted 4 primary partitions.

I've read a number of threads with this topic on this and some other forums. and also how to do it. but neither gives no definitive answer...

So, what happens if I change HP_tools in secondary (logical) partition? the tools still work? will still be the HPquickweb / work boot? or is it better to remove the recovery partition?

In addition, I can't find the asnwer on doing hp_tools parittion backup tool. Is it simply copy & compress all the files or it creates a partition image or what?

HP quickweb is protected by some kind of linux basedOS, which is a little funny.  HP could create a 10 GB partition on a 500 GB drive and install a propper linux here. It would still be extremely quick start... or rather much faster than windows 7.

For anyone who has another lookig for a clean solution:
1 back up data (I used redobackup, started shape USB and then created the image of an external hard drive).
    2. use parittion mini Assistant tool to change the windows (c:\) of primary to secondary partition.
    3. defragment the disk (at least 2 x)
4 resize partition windows desirable size c:\
5 install a 64 bit OS in the empty space (Ubuntu 12.04 or 13.04 seem to work out of the box) and safely unlock the power of the computer for free.

  • I have 99.3 MB 3.00 KB free on my disk (f) for hp_tools, how can I increase the space?

I have 99.3 MB with 3.00 KB free on my (f drive for hp_tools, how can I increase the space? just in case it is needed for updating more than tools.)

    Hello

The folder N360_BACKUP is not here and should be deleted or moved to another location.  The file is created by using Norton backup, so this utility should be configured to store its backup files into a directory on the C partition or to an external device in order to avoid the warning of low disk space you may have been found.

  • No free space after deleting files - trouble with optimized storage?

Hi, I have macos Sierra and I deleted many files to my main drive and also to my external hard drive (both to the Mac OS Extended format) in preparation for the boot camp. I also emptied the Recycle Bin, although there is much less space on the two disks that it should be and the majority of the space is obviously indicated under "purgeable". I thought it would not be a problem, because I assumed that the space would be released, if I move all of the files there and if I need for the new Windows partition. However, this assumption was false. I can't simply use storage that I released. I can't move there all the files and I can't create the partition from free space. What can I do with it? It's pretty frustrating... Thanks for the help!

You must use the Bootcamp Assistant to create the Bootcamp partition.

Please provide details on the total space and free space on your internal drive. Post screenshots of what you see in system-> storage information. In addition, select the drive in Finder-I press control and post a screenshot of the window read the information.
