HP Touchpad disappointment

As a loyal HP customer, I was very disappointed by the sale of fire of Touchpad to the United Kingdom. For various reasons, that I missed the sale at the time wherever I've heard no stocks left. I'm registered for all customer notifications, surely emails pourraient were issued. Enough moaning, some retailers are advertising Touchpad 64 GB soon. They come out? Will be they be wide sole to less than the price announced £ 600?

This has been resolved. Retailers are withdrawing ads.

  • Continuous P20W to stop satellite touchpad

First post, really disappointed with the Satellite P20W. Barry is mediocre compared to advertising and the resolution means that some applications are blurred.

Anyway, my biggest annoyance and my concern is that the touchpad intermittently stops working no reason what so ever. another user posted the same failure on the US forums by mistake so never found a resolution. He had tried all the drivers and updated bios etc and even returned the first device in the PC world.

I would like to than this to be sorted and keep the laptop, but at this rate I rather just return it and get a brand like ASUS or HP.

Anyone had this problem and found a solution? Have to start touching the screen is not an acceptable solution.

    Thank you!

I updated the BIOS from 1,2 to 1,5 and for 5 minutes, so far, the mouse has not frozen. Potentially a solution but time will tell. I will update the forum if something changes. I also realize it is the Satellite RADIUS P20W therefore may be in the wrong category. If an admin can move it, it would be great.

  • The faulty Synaptics Touchpad on x 2 13-m121sa Split driver causing frost and lack of response from the mouse

Edit: I found a solution, scroll down.

I had problems with my new Split x 2 similar to those already explained in the forums by other users. The symptoms are:

    1. unusual hanging or freezing of the mouse pointer on the screen and the use of gestures temperament (two fingers to scroll, zoom, etc.).

    2. slowdown in the computer in general; acting lethargic and freezing during light use or after closing the display.

The symptoms seem to change according to the duration of the computer was operated and are affected by the screen from the dock of disconnection/reconnection.

Being very good with these things, I decided to investigate and discovered the following:

The root cause of both problems is the driver for the Synaptics Touchpad. While the latest version available on the HP website (17.0.10.9) seems to solve all unusual freezing of the pointer it has a large memory leak. In other words, when you move it on the touchpad pointer uses the memory of the computer. This is normal, but the problem is that the driver for the touchpad does not return memory; It cannot be reassigned. In other words, after a few hours of computer use (or to have the display closed) memory reached saturation point and the version of the computer to a halt.

If you encounter the same problem take a look for yourself: open the Task Manager and look at the performance tab. Under the brief entitled you will find a value for "Non paged pool. With the computer idle, this number will not rise, but move the mouse and you will see it go gradually upwards without return. I have confirmed this to be the Synaptics driver using the Windows tool poolmon.exe - the culprits are the Irp and SynT.

About the solutions, I tried a lot - but there is no absolute solution.

You can uninstall the Synaptics Touchpad driver and the problem will disappear - the memory usage is no longer freezing or high. But unless the driver that the computer is to use the standard Windows driver - there is therefore no multitouch gestures like scroll or zoom in.

I tried to install the generic Synaptics driver available on their site, and the computer will not allow him. Regardless of this, I forced the installation of the driver, but the generic driver does not work with this Touchpad anyway (error code 10). I tried the latest version (17.0.19) and a former one (16.2.21) without success. Even earlier (e.g. 15.x.x) refused to run on the grounds of incompatibility.

HP support suggested a "Refresh" of system setting to factory, but put aside from the huge inconvenience of time and losing files - I know that this does not work either. Apparently a clean install worked for a single user - but for this you need an installation of Windows or USB disc that I did not - and I am skeptical that it would work anyway.

So now I use the touchpad driver Windows standard without being able to scroll, zoom or use them slide-in gestures of Windows 8.1.

If a representative from HP is reading this, I strongly suggest that this issue be escalated. A simple update to Synaptics could solve this problem which is causing the computers people freeze and lose your support staff time.

TL; DR: Driver HP Touchpad is defective and causes a memory leak. Synaptics has generic drivers do not work. And the standard Windows drivers are not satisfactory.

    SOLVED!

Through my own research I found a solution. While the most recent driver listed under this model is 17.0.10.9 it is actually a newer version which doesn't have this problem: version 17.0.10.16!

I am always disappointed that HP has not suggest this solution themselves, given this driver was published in November 2013! HP if you're reading this: Please allow this driver for this model in your support pages.

In any case, the solution is:

    1. open Device Manager (Control Panel-> hardware and sound-> Device Manager)

2 in the 'mice and other pointing devices' open «HID Synaptics TouchPad»

    3. in the "Driver" tab, click "Uninstall".

    4. the pointer will disappear - restart the computer

    5. download the new driver from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=uk & lc = on & softwareitem = ob-127354-1

(if that link fails try to search online for 'synaptics driver 17.0.10.16')

    6. open and install the driver

I hope this helps. HP, please send my consulting fees through PayPal (!)

  • Satellite A100-998: Touchpad acts crazy

    Hello

I am now the proud owner of a Satellite A100-998, with Intel Dual-Core, 2 GB of RAM, pregnant harman/kardon and so on.
Is a beautiful piece. However, would be much nicer if I had no problem from touchpad:

Do you want to use the scroll bar on the right, in any application (Word, Excel, Mozilla, no matter), or you want to close the window by clicking the X. But then your system seems to "think" that you are working on the underlying window and it takes your window away and simply shows the underlying window. As if she had the wrong coordinates pointer/Mouse/touchpad! I tried everything with the two parameters dozend touchpad software allows, but does not. No matter what the setting.

The distributor said that I would ask Toshiba, that he has never heard such odd performances.
A Toshiba engineer looking in this forum and answer these questions?
Or does anyone know what to do about it?

    David

Sorry, but I think I have to disappoint you. To my knowledge there is no Toshiba technicians or engineers. This is a user forum.

However, I would like to help you, but I've also never heard these dysfunctions of touchpad.
This problem also happens when you use an external USB mouse?

I don't know who exactly touchpad software you use, but on my laptop I can configure the easy touchpad properties.
Please check if you did not select the tap again and hold to drag the option. Maybe it has a bad influence on the device.

In addition, you can configure different tab area. Each tab on the touchpad can perform different actions. So check it!

Also check the movement of the pointer and other like edge options request. There must be parameters that cause strange movements

  • Satellite configuration TouchPad 5200-801

    Hello

    I don't really have a problem, but a question...
When you configure the touchpad, the backlight lights up little and after a while back. Where can I configure this backlight is allways on as the backlight of the screen little on the front of the laptop?

Another question... is it possible to activate hyperthreating for this laptop?

    Answer PLZ... I expect :-)

    Hello

on the Touchpad, I can only advice you to look at SFP configuration. Click on the second writer and watch if that's possible!
You can also check Toshiba download page if there is a new version of SFP configuration.

On Hyperthreading, I have to disappoint you, because your laptop is only a Pentium 4 Mobile without Hyperthreading. When you need Hyperthading you need a new laptop computer! Sorry

  • Satellite P840 Win8 - touchpad stops intermittently to answer

Hi, I got my new laptop for 24 hours, and that I have lived two times a situation whereby the touchpad no longer permanently, by requiring that the computer be reset (which ' solve' the problem). In addition to this, I experienced intermittent freezes in response for 3-4 seconds, then it starts to answer again.

It's brand new, so it's quite disappointing. This happened to someone else and if so, is there a solution that does not involve returning to the unit?

    See you soon,.
    Pete

    Hello

Have you noticed the same using a USB mouse connected?
I m asking this because from my point of view, could the touchpad or the system freezes for a few seconds due to stresses the CPU.

In many cases the response of the system doesn t because some processes that run in the background stresses the CPU, which leads to such system gel.

I wouldn't worry this check if the system is up-to-date and if all updates are installed.
In the event that this question would not be bound to the mentioned background process, try to update the driver for the touchpad.
Check the page of the Toshiba UE driver in order to get the latest touchpad driver or visit the page of the Synaptics driver for the driver directly from the manufacturer of touchpad page.

  • T460 touchpad responds liked when the Ethernet cable is plugged

    Hello

I bought a brand new ThinkPad T460 ten days ago and I noticed that when I plug in an Ethernet cable, the touchpad responds: just a few clicks and taps are missed, the movement is slow and and sometimes temporarily blocked. The touchpad comes alive again as soon as the Ethernet cable is disconnected. The trackpoint and trackpoint button above the touchpad are not affected, only the touchpad starts to misbehave.

This happens on both Windows and Linux, this isn't a problem of specific operating system. Furthermore, I checked to see if I am running the latest version of the BIOS, and I am. And there are no problems when you use the wireless adapter, but one of the reasons why I bought a ThinkPad was she has a port Ethernet, so not being able to use it would be extremely disappointing.

I checked to see if there are any IRQ conflicts for the touchpad, but could find none. The problem occurs when the computer is plugged in and when it runs on battery only. I also tried two different cables in the same router, each in a different router port, and the problem persisted.

I'm using the latest drivers for Windows 7 directly on the Lenovo site, and Arch Linux with kernel 4.4.5 - the Ethernet card is considered:

    e1000e [2.751703]: Intel® PRO/1000 3.2.6 - k network driver
    e1000e [2.751705]: Copyright (c) Intel Corporation 1999-2015.

Should I expect it is fixed with a BIOS update, or do I have to contact guarantee? It is unacceptable to live with it.

Tried in another House as promised, and the touchpad works very well with cable Ethernet is plugged. Also, before you leave the House with the problem, I discovered that the problem occurs only when the cable from my ISP switch is plugged into my router.

Respect my opinion that this machine deserves a stronger touchpad, but apparently is not due to lack of computer - under normal circumstances, there is no problem with the touchpad.

I'm stumped on how to proceed. Can I use a multimeter on the ISP switch from cable, but I'm not sure what to check (voltage? how does and between what son?). I'll also look into the suggestion of ferrite, I don't know where they are available - this thread is first heard of them.

Anyway, I wanted to just erase Lenovo name on it.

Recently, I have problems with the touchpad. I can't get the pointer arrow to go where I want it. When I do it, it moves all around and I can see it shake on the screen. • I really wish that I don't have to Deauthorize all of my devices - I am disappointed that Apple does not allow me to see the computers I've allowed and allow me to Deauthorize them individually

I bought a new computer and you want to authorize iTunes.  Only to discover that you can authorize only 5 computers simultaneously (which is disappointing to say the least in the first place - why the limit.  Also, now I learn to disable allow a computer I have, I have to disable allow all my devices... my iPad, my iPhone, my MacMini, etc..  one of my devices is actually used by my parents in their cabin, and if I disable this one... it's 4 hours away just to reauthorize again... not very efficient if you ask me.  Is there a way to allow MORE THAN 5 arbitrary and if not, then is it possible to allow out of an individual computer to the account - and if not, how many days will take apple to find a way to do?

I have to allow my iPad, my iPhone out of all my devices...

No, you don't, iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) devices are not allowed for an account and therefore cannot be deauthorised - only iTunes from the computer are allowed/deauthorised.

Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them.

  • Why my touchpad on MacPro unresponsive?

Last week, I installed Mac OS Sierra on my MacPro. Since then, my touchpad is not responding, and system has slowed to snail PACE. Why?

Occasionally an older battery start to fail and start to develop.  Which often interferes with the trackpad.  Open the MBP and inspect the battery.  If there is no sign of expansion, immediately remove that continues the expansion will seriously damage the MBP.

    Ciao.

  • Touchpad cursor gets hard to control "woozy"

Recently, I went back to using my Mac Pro 2009 after using a Macbook to the past two years for most. I upgraded to El Capitan first, and I decided to start a new account because I've been migrating the same account for 20 years. So all is cool enough for most.

I had used a magic with the MacBook Pro touchpad because I hated the portable computers clean touchpad. Having become accustomed to the use of the touch pad, that I decided to use it with the Mac Pro. I use the touchpad, even for the last two years.

Here's the problem: I have not yet identified which triggers it but what is happening is that the slider will frequently and suddenly become what I can only describe as 'under the weather', and I hope it makes sense. It becomes slow and its response and tends to overcompensate sometimes I have to be very careful and precise and slow in my movements when it's like that because if I use my hands the way I would normally be the cursor will overshoot.

It does not have it for long periods of time, but he does not often. And it makes me a little nuts. Any ideas?

Really?  No one has an answer here?  I'm going crazy... and now my stylus is dead, so I am forced to use the touchpad! (I can't use a mouse because of repetitive stress injury)

If anyone has any ideas, please share!

  • Touchpad not working not for a few seconds after I touch it with your finger, then a more...

I already tried SMC and reset the PRAM, but who doesn't. I found someone with such a similar problem (Trackpad doesn't work sometimes on MBP after upgrade OS X 10.8.2)

but the measures that seem to work for them do not work for me.

Thus, as described in the title. the touchpad works very well as long as I just touching with a finger, so scrolling with two fingers or by changing desktop computers do not work. the mouse freezes for a few seconds after I hit with 2 fingers. After about 3 seconds it starts working again.

If there is someone with the same problem let me know!
