• 2910al - 48G Switch: problem with the VLAN

  Hi all,

  I write a new message because I don't know what is happening on my SW series 2910al - 48G and v1910 - 48G.

  I put on the main core SW VLAN 610 and I put to this VLAN IP addreess 100.110.10.1 24-bit etc and it worked fine until yesterday. I change only PLEASE and I enebale STP - loop protect for ports in the range 1-52. (now I rolback this settings as was before)

  Now, every PC that has for a long time what IP range 100.110.10.1 24-bit works fine, but new PC have problem with to get the new IP address. I tested it add a static and same address does not work.

  Introduced in second v1910 SW - 48 G VLAN as below

  I connect this flexible switch this \port SW 2910 - G 48, 46 (Vlan 610 tag) <>- at v1910-48G\ port 50 SW (Vlan 610 tahgged) other ports on this switch I put not marked.

• A5120 switch - 48G EI didn't poster not MAC addresses connected to the port card.

  I tried to get connected mac address is displayed under political network for a switch HP A5120. model JE069A. My other switches show mac addresses, but not this model. All are in the same policy in foglight. I don't know if it related software, or something in the configuration of the switch. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

• Problem with port 20 on ProCurve 2910al - 48G - POE

  I recently sent 5 x ProCurve 2910al - 48G - POE switches connected to 2 x ProCurve 5412zl.  I have a problem that port 20 does not seem to work on all 5 predisposees.  What is a config problem?

  I have a VMware ESXi 5.0.0 623860 host running two Windows VM well enough. The host material is an HP Proliant DL 380 G5 server.

  This host is Gbit Ethernet connected to a HP Procurve 2810 - 48G (J9022A) switch via two cables UTP Cat 5e.

  I want to configure an ethernet trunk using the two ports of the switch for fault tolerance and failover disaster link.

  I have telnet switch and configure ports like Trunk3 with TRUNK (not LACP) option as shown in this picture:

  

  To the ESXi side I'll to the vSphere Clent to Configuration-> networking-> vSwitch0-> properties-> Edit-> grouping of NETWORK cards, then set the option Load Balancing on "Route based on the IP hash" as shown in the following image:

  

  At that time, with or without restarting the software Procurve or ESXi host I ping the host and two virtual machines in it, but after about 10-15 minutes, I lose connectivity to the host (ping stops). So if I disconnect one of the UTP cables connect it again.

  I don't know if these are the good configurations for my goal, so any help would be much appreciated.

• Installation of a second switch to support redundancy

  VMware ESX 4.0 w/Update 4 installed, Vmotion license as well.

  4 machines four HOSTS

  Switches - HP Procurve 2910al - 48G

  EMC Clariion AX4 - 5i SAN Bay

  This network configuration has been inherited by me came on board here, not my fault. The mentioned above, switches that I bought just for this project.

  I have a HP Procurve switch.  The switch has two defined VLANs.

  One for VMkernel and VMotion (vlan 200)

  A Console Service (Vlan 201)

  Currently, the console service Vlan (201) is also set to a second former switch, with four connections going to the aforementioned switch and four others to the second switch.

  What I want to do is to add a second switch for redundancy of the network VLAN 200. It would be as simple to install a new switch, create another VLAN 200, then spend half of connections (currently two coming from each HOST, so one of each) to switch B?

  Do I have to change the properties on the vswitch, NIC Teaming tab to "Route based on ip hash", or leave it alone (it is currently 'Route based on the original virtual port code'). ?

  Both switches would still be on shared resources to our main switch, so that there is a path to associate the VLANS set.

  Welcome to the community - Yes it would be that easy - as long as you do not change VLAN you won't them needt to change anything within the vmware environment.

  For all mix I'd say separating your vmotion and vmkernel traffic on VLANS separated who would follow the best practices - but if all works well I would wait until you make the change of the physical network.

• Selection not switching on

  Im having a problem where when I try to enable/disable certain alarms I turn on or off. When I switch on it will switch display green, and then he will return immediately after my selection to switch on (showing it is disabled). Looks like the animation is buggy or something. Factory reset just my watch and still have the same problem.
