HP xw8600: Hot Swap disk xw8600

BIOS is updated.  1.42 (?) Win 7-64

I bought an opportunity StarTech SATADOCK525 Trayless 5.25 "Bay mounted 2.5" and 3.5 "SATA Drive Dock on eBay. I installed it in a workstation HP xw8600 without a RAID but my BIOS saids that the hard drives are controlled by the RAID BIOS. I can't the hot swap to work. The drive receives power and works of HD if the disc is in the dock when I start the computer. However I that I swap the disk, the new HD no longer works. Is it because of the BIOS RAID control.

I have 3 HD over the CD/DVD and the Dock, so I need 5 active SATA cables. I have RAID + AHCI value because I need 5 active ports.

Is this normal? Or do I have a problem?  The motherboard - BIOS supports hot swap?

Looks like port SAS-0 strives to get hot.  Now try with a HD with real data.

My server T420 currently switchable 3-hot hard drives installed and I intend to install 2 hard drives hot swap. The server has ESXi 5.1 and I am looking for the instructions for this process. The plan is to turn off the server, install the new HDD and reconfigure the BIOS to power for hard drives new. Is the installation process for the similar server to our plan or very different?

    Shad515,

You can stop the server, but it is not necessary since you have hot swappable hard drives. While in THE RAID controller BIOS, simply insert drives into available slots. Hard drives will appear in a 'READY' State At this point, you have to reconfigure your virtual disk as needed.

Server of our warranty and support from last year. Hello matt.newman,

For the MD1000, you can replace a failed during execution of the MD1000 drive.  When you insert the replacement drive, it will start a reconstruction.

To replace the Perc6 you will need to do is the following:

    1. Make sure you have a good backup tested all the MD data
    2. Turn off the server and the MD
    3. The PERC6. Remove and replace
    4. Turn on the MD & wait that he move to a ready state
    5. Turn the server & go in the new Bios Perc6 / configuration
    6. You have to re-create the raid10 & together for Adaptive Read Ahead, political writing back, broadband 64 KB, off the disk cache strategy
    7. Once you have created the raid then leave the PERC6 configuration utility and the Server post to the operating system
    8. Once logged on the operating system you can then run the restore to restore your data to the MD

  • Drives hot swap in BIOS not safe to remove the value

I have a Doc Icy as the docks of the internal disks in a Bay with two power switches front of 5.25 inch front - one for the 2.5 inches dock bay and one for the Bay dock of 3.5 inches.  In the last inserted here readers as well as internal hard drives would come in safe to delete list.  Apparently a Win 7 update fixed the internal drives appear.  Now, even if for the ICY Doc SATA ports are on hot swap in the BIOS, they still do not appear in the delete list safe, which means that the superior policies drive removable section don't appear in the tab Device Manager strategies as they did and still do for USB drives.

I found here in the forum a few lines of registry added to disable records showing in safe to delete the list, so I wonder if there are a few lines or a tweak for these lines to get two ICY DOC SATA ports to appear in Safe to remove - or y at - it another way?

Here's the instructions to Remove readers of safe to remove from the other post by Bobby Mikkelson.

    1. click on Start

    2. in the search programs and files box, type the command

    3. under programs, click command prompt , click run as administrator

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or click on continue.

    4. copy and paste or type each of the commands at the command prompt and press enter after each command

    Reg.exe add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci\Controller0\Channel0" / f/v TreatAsInternalPort /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

    Reg.exe add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci\Controller0\Channel1" / f/v TreatAsInternalPort /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

5 restart your computer to activate the registry changes

Note: There may be some trial and error to determine the appropriate ports (also called "channels").

The number of channel indicated in the device maybe Manager may not match the channel number in the registry, you may need to set the value and check the desired effect.

There is currently no entries like this in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci\

In case it is not clear - I WANT that drives DOC ICY appears in safe to remove.

  • swap disk failing on R510

Sorry for the basic question, but I'm happy to be considered a fool if I can

    do things.  :)

Error on LED is "E1810 HD 5 fault"

This disk is part of a RAID-1.  Machine is running CentOS 5.  OMSA is not installed.

    R510, 8 car chassis.

What is the recommended route to replace the defective drive?

    (1) hot swap by pressing the button delete drive, install the new drive, cross your fingers, automatic

    rebuild?

    2) starts at Dell Support Live, run OMSA who go and do the replacement of this way

    3) go into the BIOS and make the replacement here.

    (1) is easiest if it works, of course, but it's an important machine, so the safest way

    is the best.

Thank you very much for your time.

    See you soon

    None of them are "safe".

    1) there are many reasons that may prevent disk rebuild automatically, if it does not rebuild automatically, without OMSA, so you'll need one of the other methods to clear foreign config or assigned as a hot spare to start reconstruction.

Just make sure that you insert the ' hot' drive (not being able to replace).

I try to get hot to labour in the 9800 unsuccessfully Simulator code swap. All the online documentation says it should work and I saw the evidence that it works on the old JDK to http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Testing-and-Deployment/How-To-Use-Hot-Swap-with-the-BlackBerr... . Nice article... but it does not mention the eclipse plugin. I can't find "Simulator of reuse" check box on one of the eclipse debugging configuration forms!

When I change my code and trying to debug a second time, I get the message "A BlackBerry debugging session is already active."

I can run the Simulator 9800 ok, but it takes 10-15 minutes of startup: ^(et cela tue ma productivité.)

Could someone rim give a clear statement or point me to a final resource stating if hotswap is supported on the eclipse plugin.

    Thank you

    Randy

I got it work after trying two additional things. I don't know which one solved the problem.

    1. I had an entry in my environment variable path pointing to a directory of 'bin' of the eclipse plugin that I deleted old.

    2. I did a complete new installation of the classic eclipse 3.5.2 1.1.2 BlackBerry plugin eclipse and plugin SDK 6.0.

Don't know which of these things is switchable hot work.

I still get traded an exception when the debugger attaches more switchable hot but if I click here my code gets hot and I am able to continue debugging on the 6.0 9800 Simulator so I'm a happy guy

  • Hot swap does not

    Hello community

I looked around, without success, and it took a lot, too much time to settle. Keep in mind, I'm no expert with the java/eclipse development environment, so what might seem routine for you would not be for me.

I had a project that depends on another, I make a change to the Basic project and it used to reflect properly. Now, however, I have to reboot before the changes to the basis of work. I tried the upgrade, copying the empty spaces of work/projects projects, nothing doesn't seem to work and no info on why it fails. Hot swap has just stopped working. Remember that if I make a change to the main project, hot swap works. All ideas

    Eclipse 3.7.2

    BB plugin in 2.0

    JDK 6 and 7

    Thank you

And it has not worked in another Simulator.

Back to 1.3, now it works

It's bad, maybe someone could understand the source? Or have I missed something obvious? It cost us a lot of valuable time...

    Bravo

I have to close and reopen the emulator. I tried EVERYTHING but to no avail.

IM desperate here, can someone give me a hand please?

I use Windows 7 Home Premium, I tried a workoround for the issue of authorizations for with no luck.
He has worked with an older version of the plugin Eclipse '1.3.0', but it's a pain for re - configure everything.
for some reason any the last version of the plugin won't let me not hot swap.

  • Reference Dell 6248: hot swapping and upgrade battery links

I have a set of switches Dell 6248.  I have a few questions to explore:

    (1) can I add/remove the CX4 cables while the switch is working?  (I guess it's the same rules as a cable normal Ethernet...)

    (2) can I add/remove modules while the switch is working?

First scenario I'm looking at: extend the stack on a stacked rack.

I think the process here is, install a switch of spare with stacking module, run off battery cables to the battery, breaking and re-Assembly of the ring, then turn on the switch, confirm the ID stack and connectivity and migrate customers to it.  I can totally hot cables plug the CS4, right?

Next scenario I'm curious: upgrade of 12G to 48G stack.

Can I exchange the accumulated 12 GB card and swap the 48G card in when the switch is on, or do I have to turn it off?  Connectors on the 48G card the same?  (CX4..)  Can I / layout 48G and 12G cards in a pile during my upgrade?  Is the maximum length of cable the same (3 m) on a stack of 48G?

    Thank you!

    -danny

    Hey Danny,

The stackable modules are not hot-swappable. The cables are, but for the modules to detect that it must present when the switch is started. A reboot is also required for stacking on these ports using Ethernet. Yes 48 GB stackable modules also have a 3 meter cable.

  • Hot Swap Raid 1 with 2 members of cold to the distribution

I use a pair of w/Raid 1 PE T610 as a backup destination. The couple have three members. One of the members to be toggled Alternatively every day to the data in any news. When the safe drive is released and reconnected in the hot bay must rebuild with the rotation disc right? Give me a member of spinning and yesterdays pair in the trunk? Old Member States should also rebuild automatically right?  Comments please...

The problems are varied, unpredictable and random, BECAUSE it is used in one different manner that it was. Potential problems:

Corruption of data. That is the first reason for not to do. The table is sensitive to the loss of data due to errors in read/write unprotected during the reconstruction. This frequently more increases the chances of data loss. If you are mobile 2 TB of data and Exchange on a daily basis, averages say you will experience a loss of data, every 6 weeks. A 'real' backup solution has the ability of error checking and check inconsistencies in the data. If a single drive in an array of gradient is the only source of data, there may be no verification or correction - it is simply lost.

Unresolved foreign configurations. At some point, your disk will appear as 'foreigner '. In a perfect world, all you need to do is to delete it and assign it as a spare drive to rebuild. The server assigns its configuration at startup to determine which configurations are foreign to it. If the controller "forgets" to its configuration and must decide which drive is the 'good', he can choose the wrong, or he might try to mesh together (data loss). Sometimes, these foreign and local configurations are lost and cannot be resolved.

  • Hiding HP ENVY 15 t-j000 Quad Edition w/SSD and hybrid propulsion system. Swap disk for one SSD Question.

    Hi all!

I bought the HP ENVY 15 t-j000 Quad Edition and opted for the WSSD 24Go cache as well as the hybrid drive 1 TB. Do I have a problem just buy a kit of cloning and spend the hybrid propulsion system to a full on SSD in the future if I choose to?

I did some research but I can't isolate an answer if yes or no I might encounter problems on account of the Intel RST be "associated" with the traditional HARD drive caching.

So I wonder if I can't just simply disable acceleration of RST, clone HARD drive for an SSD via a cloning kit, remove the HARD and the SSD drive and call it a day?

Any help with this is appreciated!

    Purgingomen wrote:

Thanks for the info but I was even more so, I was wondering if I would have a problem Exchange with a new SSD hybrid drive later by cloning.

I thought that I would stick with the 8 GB of RAM and WSSD combo of cache/HDD for now and sometimes down the line (as in a year or two) to get rid of the HARD drive for a full on SSD, disable caching and at the same time move to 16 GB of RAM.

But I don't know if yes or no the WSSD cache/HDD combo makes it difficult to clone and swap the HARD drive and then just leave the disc of "cache" of 24 gigas (which is more a cache drive) there to be upgraded later.

    -Rob

Well, I think a pure 2.5 "SSD should work on the system but make sure the cache is removed. For the purposes of cloning, I suggest using the DD command:

  • T440s not detected on hot swap external battery

Initially I thought it was just a problem of linux.

Its the same thing on windows 8.

Remove and then reinsert the external battery and windows some extended shows two stacks when you right-click in the system tray.

The battery is detected again when I:

    Insert the power cable,

    suspend and resume

    put into hibernation and resume

    Restart

    I'm on BIOS 2.17

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Michael

For me it turned out be a hardware problem.

Catches of battery marked '1' on the back do not seem to go far enough to trigger the events of the APCI indicating the battery inserts.

I found if I removed the plug completely manually and pulled him so the battery would be detected.

  • Can the two versions of Windows 7 installed once on two disks be used for the hot with the same PC swap

I want to use the same key to install Windows 7 on two different HARD drives and use them one at a time on the same PC.

I have a hot spare disk Bay. I want to be able to exchange the HARD disk for troubleshooting Windows etc. Should I buy another key?

I just realized that some information I have given is incorrect.

I have not installed a new copy of Windows 7 on the second disc. I actually reconfigured it with an image of the first hard drive.

In this case can I leave Windows on the second disk, and exchange them warm without any problem?

I've heard people cloning the C drive and there change places if anything ever goes wrong.

Would not be Windows treats the second disc I've reconfigured as a cloned disk?

    Keylonta:

You are right. If you clone a drive with a good installation running, the system knows no difference between readers. It works simply. It is not request a new activation if Exchange you them.

Similarly, if you use something like Acronis to make an image (complete backup of the drive) and then burn that image on a new disk, the system accepts the new drive as the former and, once again, do not request a reactivation.
