HP3520 offline at startup

I help an old neighbor who has just bought a Toshiba laptop (Windows 8.1) and HP3520-all-in-one for the first time at the age of 89.

It uses the printer by wireless connection, and when not in use, the printer is off. However when it turns on it it still shows as offline and he has to go through the menus to turn on the wireless operation. The wi - fi signal is strong and there is no interference.

Is it a correct default or is there something that I missed setting up, which prevents him from immediately getting online wireless to power?

Hello Woodentop,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you have a problem with the wireless to be reactivated when the printer is in reverse.

Just to let you know, the printer doesn't have to be turned off.  The printer has built in the booth of /sleep mode.  When it goes into sleep mode it will retain all settings as well as keep the wireless connection.  This example uses a very minimal power.  When a print job is sent to the printer, the printer will wake up and not printing out.  Just 15 minutes of no use of the printer go in mode 'sleep'.

The printer works to its best potential, please make sure you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet power cable and not a strip bar. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer for example, but it is intended for HP products in general. Please click the link which explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

If you decide that you turn the printer power off when you are not using it, is a better option, you will then have to go in the wireless and to allow early upward.

I hope this information is useful.

Thanks for your time.

See you soon,.

    Hello Kluunsi,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. I know have a problem with Mail on your Mac, it's not what you expect. If I understand correctly, you are able to open the Mail application, but the mailboxes show offline. Here are some steps that can help to identify and resolve this problem:

    1. first of all, try to leave the Mail app, and then hold down the SHIFT key while you open the application. Temporarily, this prevents the reopening of its documents and windows app and can help solve questions like yours.

Automatically re - open windows and applications, as well as documents on your Mac.

You can check the startup parameter:

  • Time Machine, which could cause slow startup?

After issues with finder/desktop freezes I disabled automatic backups time machine and disconnected the disk.

The drive does not have an index problem if I try to go into the time machine - but it made a backup and I don't want to lose those there until I have solve the problem.

It all started when I was a housekeeping cleaning - deleting a file PDF - update of my photos outside of iphoto to include an image with text etc.

Lately reached some stability during starts - in this very fast - almost every day except Wednesday - what is the start of a new week on my time machine - today's startup disk was gray and blue for a few minutes - then to avoid a freeze I restarted after loading the desktop computer.

This also happened this afternoon when I started again - same last week - up to what he did and why - nothing in the logs to indicate anything unusual.

If I plug the drive and push a time machine backup will scan the drive anyway so don't know what's the point.

Just a quick note here - while in offline mode system - about 5 minutes after the use of widgets - frozen - was to force the reboot - but I did remove all the widgets and disable all the table - as one or more of them--came with Snow Leopard - can be the source of the problem.    I just put the calculator (not the widget application

Extra - last night I noticed a lot of disk activity when I didn't do anything other than look at the activity - with TimeMachine notifier - monitor issue as time machine is not connected and is off - when I connect it - it will scan the disc again - so what is the Apple of point.

Had trouble starting this AM - had a finder does not not - was able to force quit of doc and did a reboot, and I did a second reboot.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.

-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.
