  Your HP 4500 fax component must connect to a regular telephone line (not an Internet phone).  Because you have a phone with answering machine, you'll probably want to buy a fax switch so that your answering machine pick up incoming fax calls and vice versa.  There are several different types of these devices, so you will have to do a little research.  If your telephone company offers "distinctive ring" service (two phone numbers on one physical line), you can configure fax to detect such type of ringtone.  Otherwise, you will need to find a camera that responds automatically and switches to the fax if it detects fax negotiation tones. Or order a second phone line.

  Scanner printer parts (and) your HP 4500 can be connected to your PC, either via a cable USB or - if your "router" is also a modem - using an Ethernet network cable.  If you decide to start with a USB connection, make sure to install the software from the CD that came with it before connecting the USB cable.

  1. are you an analog telephone system ("plain old telephone service" or POTS)?  Answer should be Yes.

  2. do you use the thephone cord that came with the printer?  Answer should be Yes.

  3. If you connect a standard phone to the wall outlet instead of the printer, you hear a tone when you pick up the phone?  Answer should be Yes.

  4. is there anything else connected between the printer and the wall outlet (for example, are a DSL automatically using the filter or separator)? Answer should be no (for testing purposes).

  5. is there anything (except a blank sheet which may have been provided with the printer) in 2 - EXT? Answer should be: No.

  If your answers are not not as shown in "BOLD", call the HP technical support.  Also note that if you are in some countries outside the United States, your phone system cannot support anything connected to the 2 - EXT connector.

  If someone uses it can you tell me is there a way to get the points bookmarks bar to display in the sidebar? I have the bookmark icon there but it only shows the normal bookmarks in the browser drop-down list. My bookmarks bar is not in the list.

  It's like the folder "bookmarks bar" which appears in the toolbar bookmarks by default if you press CTRL + B, but it seems that you're talking about the actual Menu bookmarks when you click on the Menu bar > Favorites and you can see all the folders. In this menu, I see also bookmarks toolbar folder (it has a blue star in the middle of the icon and I do not see that in your previous screenshot).

  After that do not understand I came up with a work around. I added a subfolder to the folder 'toolbar bookmarks"and everything in this folder to add a new layer. This created a single folder is displayed in the toolbar on the left.

  You can uninstall the extensions that are more, you need or want to use.

  copies out.  When that happens, it should turn the printer power off and close

  Mac and start over.

  I used the brother 7820N - it is an older model that makes black and white printing, but it connects beautifully on the network and reproduced faithfully what ever is sent.

  Thank you for your concern. I contacted HP through a chat session and received the information below to try to remove and reinstall. Well so far it seems to work. If someone else is having a similar problem, they should at least try this method.

  Here are the steps to manually uninstall.

  (1) unplug the printer from the computer or network.

  2) click on the Windows button on the computer.
  
  (3) type folder in the box and press ENTER to open it.
  
  (4) locate and click 7zs2b7.tmp file to open it, if not, check for any file starting with 7z.

  (5) open this folder and then find the Util folder and open it.
  
  6) double-click the CCC folder to open it.
  
  (7) double click on Uninstall_L3
  
  NOTE: For 64-bit, the uninstall file will look like and Uninstall_L3_64 for 32 bit, it will be Uninstall_L3

  Now, restart the computer and reinstall the driver software of all the features by using the link below.
