I am the system administrator for my pc

I am and have been a Director on my xp pc. I can't download the upgrade of windows, because he says that I am not logged as an administrator. Why, when it comes to my computer? How can I change this? I went on the account of users without help. Why? I am extremely angry and cannot receive updates to my computer updates from microsoft viz. What's up with that?

Try this first: How to reset the Windows Update components?

If this does not work, go through the following...

  • Restart, and then log on as an administrative user.
  • Download, install, execute, update and perform a full scan with the following (freeware version):

    SuperAntiSpyware
    http://www.SUPERAntiSpyware.com/

  • Restart, and then log on as an administrative user.
  • Download, install, execute, update and perform a full scan with the following (freeware version):

    MalwareBytes
    http://www.Malwarebytes.com/

  • Restart, and then log on as an administrative user.
  • Download and run the MSRT tool manually:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx
  • Restart, and then log on as an administrative user.
  • Download/install the latest program Windows installation (for your operating system):
    (Windows XP 32-bit: WindowsXP-KB942288-v3 - x 86 .exe)

  • Restart, and then log on as an administrative user.
  • Download the latest version of Windows Update (x 86) agent here:
    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91237
... and save it to the root of your drive C:\.  After you register on the root of the C:\ drive, follow these steps:
-Close all Internet Explorer Windows and other applications.
    -AutoScan--> RUN and type:
    %SystemDrive%\windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe /WUFORCE
    --> Click OK.
-(Si demandé, sélectionnez «Exécuter.) --> Click on NEXT--> select 'I agree' and click NEXT--> where he completed the installation, click "Finish"...
  • Restart, and then log on as an administrative user.
  • Visit this web page: How to reset the Windows Update components? ... and click on the "Microsoft Fix it."  When asked, select "RUN", both times.  Check the box "I agree" and click "next".  Check the box for "Run the aggressive options (not recommended)" and click "next".  Let him finish and follow the instructions until it does.  Close/exit.
  • Restart, and then log on as an administrative user.
  • Visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and select this option to make a
    CUSTOM scan...

Whenever you are about to click on something while these web pages - firstly, press on and press and hold the CTRL key while you click on it.  You can release the CTRL key after clicking on each time.

Once the scan is complete, select just _ONE_ of high priority updates (deselect all others) and install it.

  • Restart, and then log on as an administrative user.
  • If it worked - try the web page - selection not more than 3-5 both *.  Reboot as needed.
  • * The optional software updates are usually safe - although I do not recommend the "Windows Search" one and all "Windows Live" or the "Office Live" those which for the moment.  I would like to avoid completely optional hardware updates.

Come back - especially if you're stuck somewhere, but even if you don't--and let everyone know how it turns out.

    • How to reset the password for the system administrator for Time Capsule?

I need to do a system restore to 2008 MacBook my wife of my 2014 Time Capsule, and I'm stuck at the system administrator password prompt. It does not accept the password to base such as revealed by the Airport utility station > base station > show passwords on my MBP, which is able to save and enter Time Machine, even if the TC is configured to use individual accounts rather than a single disk password. I'm nervous about any base station reset option in case I spoil my backup. How can I me?

Although TC is configured to use individual accounts rather than a single disk password

You must use the right of the user and the password in this case. NOT the password from the drive.

I'm nervous about any base station reset option in case I spoil my backup. How can I me?

Reset complete... It will not damage the backups somehow... It simply returns to the default values.

Let me recommend to you if you want to continue using the TC in this way... (useless IMHO). Please do an export of the configuration before factory reset you.

With the help of user and passwords in the TC is near useless. It only affects the side of the router...

If you need more security using encrypted backups... but the reality is... the security more you add less useful the backup is likely to be. As you have now discovered... When you need it... you need as clear and clear as possible.

    • Pavilion dv9500: How can I bypass the password of the system administrator

My father died a year and a half, and my mother gave me his old laptop. It is not start completely. I have a DRIVER_POWER_BOOT_ERROR with a blue screen after trying to system restore it. I want to just at a time when it wasn't a problem or even factory reset it but I can't get into Windows because my mother does not know his password and it was the system administrator. What can I do?

What I do is start with a flash MSDart drive and use the Microsoft Locksmith utility to reset the password.

You have the choice between either find someone to do it for you or find the version that I pointed out in my previous post on your own. Sorry, but I don't do it for you.

We have discussed this issue time and time again in the thread private here in the forum.

The consensus is that we are not in the business to help members to crack Windows passwords for ethical reasons.

    • The installation message of "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" get steam.

I just bought _ 2 who needs steam installed to function. When I try to install steam tells me that the system administrator (me0 has set policies to prevent this installation.) I have no idea of what policy they're talking about or how to change. Can anyone help?

Hello Nickydwuk.  Well, it's a bit difficult to know exactly what is happening from your description, I assume you're raising steam when he asks?

If you are uncomfortable with the head on registry:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer

Check to see if there is a key named DisableMSI.  If there is, and the value 1 to zero.  If this isn't the case, something is blocking the installation.

I have no idea who is the administrator system on my computer, I am the only person who uses it, I admit, but when I try to do something I thought for the permission of the system administrator - how to find out about it?

      Operating system?

In Windows Vista/7 - even if you were to log on as the built-in Administrator, some things you would do (such as installing an application or access to certain files or folders) require an elevation of privileges.  Maybe that's what you see.

However, you chose to not reveal your OS for some reason.

    • Call of duty Modern Warfare 2 error: the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.

      I have Windows Vista.

When you try to install COD MW2 disc, I get the following message is displayed:

The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.

Then it continues with the installation of the first disc perfectly, but the problem occurs with the second disc. When you are prompted to enter the second drive I do and he doesn't recognize. The drive doesn't look like it runs as if it is scanned intermittently. STEAM will freeze and (no response) as well as menu my computer and the DVD disk drive. So far, I can't find any solution to my problem.

I had the game earlier on the same pc but had to uninstall STEAM temporarily.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Thank you for your response. However I can't find the "local security policy" in administrative tools. Not sure if it's because of Vista.

However I managed to the second drive yesterday after many many attempts. It seemed to work when I changed the AutoPlay settings to open the folder and view the files. I have no idea why, but he was able to read the disc in this way, after a few attempts.

      Thanks anyway. :)
