I am trying to install another gig of ram on my laptop of HP running under win7 32, but when I install the stick, windows crashes at startup.

First thanks for taking the time to look at my problem. I just bought this machine used and he installed a 7 on good own licensed copy and it works just ok. Could not load too many programs or it is quite slow. More ram can only help so I picked up the ram Kingston correct and all stop, stuck the new concert date in the only opening slot, and windows crashes about 15 seconds. Hard, close and remove the ram and back in buisiness. The old for new works, fine. Any combination that adds more of the original concert hangs the system.

The machine is a HP Pavilion zd7000. HP says it has a max of ram 2048 and a Crucial site scan shows the 1 slot available without support dual channel. It is an Intel Pentium 4 @ 3 .00GHz, speed 2992 without support of the ECC.

So I did a lot of reading on this and went into the bios at startup and the bios indicates the additional concert when it is loaded, but it crashes. I have run the checker with the two sticks installed memory and it shows no problem. I went in first Grade and manually configured virtual memory to 1024-2048. I looked at the box that limits the max memory to 1028 and he did not check for me clear, but I can not change the number to 2048.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

Hey superman,.

The common feature seems to be the network card.

You can try to disable it, or update the driver for this to see if the problem resolves.
