I can not format my Satellite L40

Hello world

as I read all your comments on Vista and removing it for XP, I definitely want to get my OS, but I have a problem... when I put the XP CD and then restart my pc to format it and install XP, on my screen it is written:

The installer didn't find any hard drives installed on your computer.
Make sure that all disk drives are turned on and properly connected to your computer, and this disk related hardware configuration is correct.
This may involve running a diagnosis provided by the manufacturer or the installer.
Setup cannot continue. (To exit Setup, press F3)

Have you ever happened to someone or do someone know what is the problem? If you know it please keep me in touch because he's really starting to bother me, I think that something is broken, but I hope that Mr wrong... good day to you guys... all byebye

The user robertboss is absolutely right.
XP needs a driver SATA. The Toshiba driver page provides the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. It is a SATA driver.
This SATA driver must be installed during XP Setup process by using the external floppy drive. But maybe you don t have the external floppy drive.
In such cases, it s advisable to use a freeware program called nLite (google simply).

This software can be used to create a new XP CD and to integrate the SATA drivers in this CD.
Then you could just boot from the XP CD again and you should be able to install XP on this laptop.

  • Can not format or partition the drive HARD on Satellite M30

I have a Toshiba Satellite model No. PSM30E
And the system is unable to access the HARD disk.
When I check the Bios setup it can detect the HARD drive.

When I run windows setup to boot from the CD he sees the HARD disk with the correct size, but it cannot create partitions on it or if it can format the HARD drive. I tried the HARD disk partitioning using another system and I was able to partition and format. But when I plug in the laptop he sees just the whole HARD disk in unpartitioned space and also does not format them or partitioning it.

Y at - it shaped a locking mechanism that prevents access to the disk partitioning or setting?
My other question is, perhaps, the problem of the IDE connector?

    Any suggestions or help?

    Hello

I don t think there is something wrong with the IDE controller. Fact is that the BIOS do not show simple partitions but only whole HARD disk size.
I put t know how you tried to format the HARD disk or to create partitions on this disk HARD but in fact different OS uses the standards of different format and this may the reason for your problems!

I think you should try to boot from the original Windows XP CD. Let's launch the setup and format the whole HARD drive and erase all partitions!
I noticed that Toshiba recovery CD couldn t runs correctly on wrong formatted HDD!

  • Audio device is not detected on Satellite L40 with Vista

I buy the Toshiba Satellite L40 with Microsoft Vista Home. Some reasons for work, I removed Vista and installed Windows XP.

After this audio device action is not detected. I tried to find the driver on the web, but without success. Can you help me in this situation?

I checked Toshiba's support page and drivers of Windows XP Home edition are not available at the moment. I hope it will happen soon. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to identify a sound card on your Satellite L40.

You may be lucky and someone will give you a useful tip.

  • Hard drive does not work on Satellite L40 - 14B

I have the problem with the hard drive on my Satellite L40 - 14B. disk hard single beep 0.o and system work slowly...
    Drive is Toshiba MK1237gsx...
SMART is normal but spin retry count value is 114 100...
    10 x for help :).

Yes, the backup data is really not a bad idea to be honest, this is the best you can do.

I remember my first HARD drive crash. It was horrible because it happened all of a sudden.

I heard that a low, high noise from the HARD drive and after restarting again the HARD drive died.

As you can see this drive crash HARD could happen and it s advisable to back up the data before the death of HARD drive.

  • His record is not possible on Satellite L40 - 14N

    Hello...

Bought a Satellite L40 14N last November and have been very happy with it.

I want to record audio on it. When I start Microsoft Sound Recorder, a small window appears with the message "an audio recording device is not found." As the machine apparently has a sound card with the inputs and outputs, it's quite strange. Surely, you have actually to plug something in the front entrance on the side of registration comes into force?

If I try to record with Audacity, Audacity can't see even a recording device.

    Someone at - it solutions?

    Thank you...

    Hello

Usually, you can use the external microphone for sound recording.

    1. open the 'control panel' (Standard view)
    2. click on 'hardware and sound '.
    3. click on "sound."
    4. click on the "Recording" tab

You should see all the available recording devices. If only one microphone is available so that you can only use this device for sound recording!

  • Can I get my Satellite L40 repaired without warranty

Is - it there anyway that I can get my Satellite L40 repaired now the warranty is exhausted?
I looked at the Services guarantee customer Toshiba but £159,85 it's more that I have can we afford right now.

    Hello

Well, the fact is that you will pay for the repair if the guarantee is no longer valid.
So now the question is; What role could malfunction if your motherboard is faulty then the remedy would be a costly affair because the motherboard is one of the portable computer expensive parties.

You can also contact some laptop technicians in your city, but most often the original Toshiba parts are needed and must be ordered directly from Toshiba.

Therefore, in my view the authorized service partner would be the best solution

  • Re: Can not find my Satellite L655-11Z on Support Portal

    Nice day
I have a problem with finding "support for my laptop. Is from page link or www TEMPRO.

Can't find same * type of model L655 * on this website: http://ce.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/cs/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/
so I can not even find my version 11Z.

What makes my driver download very very hard.

Don't know if it's problem on the Czech website, or if I need to contact someone else.

    Thanks for the reply

Search driver on Toshiba support page is pretty easy.
If auto search option doesn't work, you can find it manually.

At a first look on the bottom of your laptop. You will find the Toshiba sticker with the model name for laptop, model number and serial number. What you need is the model number. For Satellite L655-11Z should be PSK1JE. Can you confirm this?

So just go to the page of download drivers Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > support home > downstairs you will find a driver download link.
Visit please this download area and manually choose your model of laptop. Model number short choose PSK1JE. Choose operating system supported and you will find all the drivers available.

  • I can not format or partition my new drive HARD internal

I have a MacBook Pro late 2011. The other day, I was unable to boot and got the flashing question mark folder. When I command + R, my old 500 GB of HARD drive was not appear. I decided it was time to upgrade. I bought a Seagate 2 TB drive and installed it. I am now ready to install OS X on it. I am able to see the drive when I go into Internet recovery, but failure of attempts at partitioning and formatting. The error for the formatting is "wipe data on the volume to avoid future to probe accidental is not" and the error for partitioning is the same. I looked for answers and I tried all the solutions I could find, but I am unable to do the single user mode that I can't boot into it successfully.

Are there other options or ideas that guys maybe I can try?

I suggest that you consider getting an external adapter or place the new drive in an external enclosure. Install Mac OS X on this subject here.  When you are satisfied with the way it works, and THEN do the transplant.

This separates from the software install the registry numbers, reduced the problem by half and the two halves solvable.

Unfortunately, I do not have the windows installation disc. What am I supposed to do? I can't access "safe mode" by pressing F8. I'd be grateful if someone helped me feed my computer please.

You can't recover unit under operating system running.

Turn recovery media in the CD/DVD drive and disappears.
Turn the unit by pressing the power button and immediately after that, press the C key
Keep it down for a few seconds. This will force the unit to boot from the recovery media
Follow the instructions on the screen

If you have any other questions, please write again.
