Something in my system turns off Windows Defender once from time to time, and I have to keep back on.
I am running Windows XP and security programs I use are Microsoft Security Essentials, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool,

As you use Microsoft Security Essentials, the reason for this is that MSE has its own version of the Defender as part of its program.
Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

How did you install ServicePack initially?
You can try to start safe mode and try to perform a system restore.
Step 1:
For a safe boot, you can follow the below given steps:
1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.
Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.
2. do one of the following:
a. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.
b. If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.
3. in the display Advanced Startup Options, use the arrow keys to select the option of safe mode you want and press ENTER. For more information about the options, see startup options (including safe mode).
4 log your computer with a user account with administrator rights.
When your computer is in safe mode, you will see marked Safe Mode in the corners of the screen. To leave safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.
If you are able to boot to the desktop in safe mode try doing a restore of the system at a point when the computer was working fine.

Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use with existing restore points system restore utility
Once you restart to try Office Outlook and see if you get the same error message. If not then follow the divide and conquer method mentioned in the article about which program is causing the problem.

Problems after downloading the Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8
Hi, I have Windows Home Version 2002 and advises him to download the Service Pack 3 and decided to download Internet Explorer 8. It wouldn't let me download IE 8 and I got a blue screen. After apparently loaded, when it restarted check disk page it came and I noticed that a lot of pages in IE have been truncated. Now Internet Explorer or Firefox will load. Only Aol 9.7 will work. I tried to download and install Service Pack 2 using Windows Vista Home Edition, or anything like that on the internet without success. According to me, the key word is internet or a block of Vista from the internet to install anything. Many people here get the same error 80070005 for SP2 as I am, but I think that the problem is with Vista, how the system allows any installs or blocks installed from the internet. I suppose that some are able to go through the download process, but installation is where it does not pass through. There are moments where it seems that the installation of SP2 works, but it will fail eventually. Other times what ever happens to the installation process. The same goes for all other downloads and installs from the internet. I am able to install a program that already exists on the computer, so I know that installs works just not the Internet. Do not send me a link to install because it probably won't last through. I may be able to download but installation will not pass by so that the program will not work. I used the words installation and internet a lot for some reason please take account, when responding.
