  You have several versions of the installed AI? If so, try all versions.

  Have you tried to drag the Acrobat file? Maybe he will open it.

  • The EPS files from Illustrator? What parameters are used when files are saved?
  • Also this happens for all files created in Illustrator EPS (even one you create brand new, with just a few text and simple work in it).
  • Where are stored the EPS files that you place in InDesign?  If there is a form of corruption of files on the hard drive? (Maybe need repair file permissions?).
  • If you work on a network: can the files when they are saved as EPS files on your hard drive?

• Cannot place a picture of tones both channels in CS2 ID

  I have a psd file which consists of two channels of pantone spot. When I try to place it in indesign, it is said

  Why is this, is there any help? I have to find a way around it, I need to make a publication using only black and a pantone shade green.

• Cannot place the Volume icon in the taskbar

  My desktop (Windows XP Home Edition, SP3) PC has problems with sound:

  The "Sound and Audio Devices Properties" window has 2 options in the box "Device volume" (in the middle):

  (1) 'Mute'.

  It works OK - I can check this option and sound is cut off, as required.

  (2) "volume icon to Place in the taskbar"

  I can't check this option to access the 'Advanced Options' button (bottom-right) and set other options of volume for 2 rear speakers (only 2 front speakers are currently operating).

  If I check this option, it fails with this MESSAGE of ERROR:

  "Windows cannot display the control volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. »

  I have NOT removed / deleted / Uninstall audio files, programs, etc., so I don't know how sound problems have been affected on my PC.

  Of course, I can't start the Volume control program, and I can't adjust any volume and sound on my PC settings. The volume icon is not displayed in the tray (taskbar, far right). Try to add the icon for the volume control for this notification area will fail with the above ERROR MESSAGE.

  I do not have the installation diskettes, so it is possible to download all the relevant sound files / applications directly and solve this problem (missing volume control program)? All the problems of sound worked beautifully until this volume control program "disappeared."

  Troubleshooting guides suggest lack file the SNDVOL32. EXE, but c:\windows\system32\dllcache fact containing SNDVOL32. EXE - of course, this file is not missing, but may be damaged / corrupted, so unusable and inaccessible, as if not found (MESSAGE of ERROR above).

  The dllcache folder is where XP guard backup copies of important files and does not come into the game normally and XP will be running fine without this folder (but you don't want to delete it).

  If one 3498 files that Windows file protection is missing, PAM retrieves the backup copy in the dllcache folder quickly and silently, replace the missing file.

  When you use certain features sounds and Audio devices if you see a message like this:

  Windows cannot display the control of volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

  Or this:

  Windows cannot execute SndVol32.exe, use Add/Remove Programs Control Panel to install.

  Looks like thesystem32\sndvol32.exe file c:\windows\ is missing.

  As the sndvol32.exe is one of 3498 Windows File Protection files handles, should never be missing.  To be absent would require an extra effort.  If it happens never missing in the system32 folder, WFP will be want to quickly and quietly replace it if he can.

  This may occur if your antivirus/antimalware application unspecified thinks the file is suspicious and quarantines (effectively delete) the file.  You can replace the missing file with a backup copy of the file that is in another folder on your system (if you can find one.)  Sometimes even the backup copy is quarantined (effectively removed)

  Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

  Assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive...

  We know that XP retains backups of critical system files in the following folder:

  c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

  Using the Explorer, search for or navigate to the following folder:

  c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

  Locate the sndvol32.exe file, right-click, choose copy or press Ctrl-C (it copies the file to the Windows Clipboard).

  If your Solution Explorer settings are not set to display file extensions, you can only see a file named "sndvol32" which has an icon that looks like to the volume control slider (this is the file you need) or adjust the settings of the browser under Tools, Folder Options, view and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" you can see the file extensions.  You can check that box again when you are finished, if that is your desire.

  If the file is missing in the dllcache folder, look for a copy of the file in this folder (you maybe not this file):

  c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

  After copying the file, navigate to the following folder:

  c:\Windows\System32

  Right-click on an empty area in the c:\windows\system32 folder display window and select Paste (Ctrl + V) to paste into the missing file where it belongs.

  Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file and then you should see a message that 1 file (s) has been copied.

  Now try your features sounds and Audio devices.

  If you can't find the file on your system, there is one on my SkyDrive and you can download it.

• Cannot place and Indesign CS5 created swf save into a file, Indesign CS5?

  I hope someone can help me?  I created a SWF animated in Indesign CS5 using the amination and deadlines of the panels for use in an interactive PDF.  The SWF exported correctly and plays as expected in the browser.  However, when I go to select the swf file to place it in my Indesign file its greyed out and cannot be selected.

  I tried essentially to follow Rufus Deuchler method to integrate animations in a PDF file http://tv.adobe.com/watch/csinsider-design/indesign-creating-interactive-pdfs-with-page-tu rn - and - flash animations /. In the video's swf is available for selection when you use the command import and everything I found on the talks from web on the importation of the SWF in indesign files as a standard feature in CS5 and CS5.5.

  I tried to re export the swf file under different names and in different folders. Quit Indesign and restart; try to place the swf file in a completely different indesign file. through all the Indesign preferences to see if there is an option to "activate" swf import and I have even tried doing Rufus and export options exactly when you create the swf file.  Nothing has worked.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have screenshots and the swf file, I'm trying to import that I can email if anyone would facilitate my growing frustration.

  Have Windows over recent Technical Preview build 10041, Firefox Nightly x 64 39.0a1 10. Firefox will be launched, but when the browser seems no entry screen as possible. Cannot access settings, cannot put the cursor in the URL box. Tried unsuccessfully compatibility modes. I can not able to use this browser on Thursday, March 26, but it worked without problem Wednesday, March 25. My speculation would be that among the latest two updates nightly broke it. The displayed issue of Chrome, like Firefox does not.

  Hello, this seems to be a known bug that is being developed (bug #1147953).
  Please also note that windows 10 is in it's pre-release preview State and there are still changes the basic platform, it will not be fully supported by firefox and things are required to be wrong on occasion.

  I recently changed my screen TV monitor flat 24 "for a 19 ' traditional flat screen LCD PL1910M, now I can't place any void on the block schema vi, if these are things I wrote or the samples directory. I select and then nothing happens when normally it would seem and you could place it where you want. My system worked for years without problem, it is a real problem!   Turns out that I had "TEAMVIEWER" running in the background which intereferes with the click function right. Incredible. You quit TEAMVIEWER and do a right click works again!  Thank you all for the help.

  So I'll try to place the circle to the edge/corner of the blue graph, as shown in the picture, but for some reason I can't do it. Still, it leaves little room and return to the same position. Can someone tell me what is happening and how can I fix?

  I need assistance with lesson 3 of Adobe InDesign CS5 Classroom in a Book. I am almost complete with exercise but will now have questions about the placement of text to the text-wrap area. I have already applied the text wrapping on the image of relevant graphics on the master page, but for some reason any InDesign me allow to place text in a text wrapping on the corresponding page of the document. Then I tried to re - trace my steps if I did anything wrong by the book, but I couldn't find the solution on my own, so I now ask this question here.

  I know this may seem a small problem for many of you, but for a noob like me it's kind of frustrating, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I think the problem is on the master page text frames. If I delete them and make new ones everything works, but there is a difference between your CS5.5 and mine, and it may be the source of the problem. There was some bug fixes issued and the current version of InDesign CS5 is 7.5.3. You always use 7.5.0 according to the file history, so the first thing we do is to download and install the patch (which could be a problem if this is a school computer). You can do help > updates... or by downloading the patch directly from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5367

  Once you have done that you should try to open the file again, go back to Master B and replace with new ones two text blocks. In case you are not able to do it, I'll send you a link to a copy of your file where I did it for you. I add that a comment or two, as well, on a new layer that you can remove to let you know anything else I place that needs to be addressed.

• Cannot place a Word specific 2010 docx in InDesign CS4

  I'm trying to use the place command to align the specific text of a docx Word 2010 with InDesign CS4.

  I managed in several Word 2010 (extension docx) documents to InDesign CS4 documents using the place command.

  I have a specific document of 30 pages (which is not loarger others who succeeded) and when I use the command set with this file, nothing happens (and no text gets load on the slider for placement.)

  I tried to re - save the word, same doc pasted its contents into a new Word document and still not get the command room to work.

  There is nothing particularly unique about the file - is not any weird embedded content, just a 30 page text writtin in word document.

  Any ideas what could go wrong or how to fix it?

  I tried to restart Word and InDesign without change (and the rest of my word files can be placed without problems, so I guess it's something specific to this file.

  NOTE - re-registration in the RTF format allows the place command work but leaves a lot of empty boxes/squares (not sure whether tabs or spaces empty or that really?)

  Can work around this problem for now, but I would like to know how to get the command to place working with decent-sized Word documents (docx for word 2010 if it matters).

  It seems that there is something in the Word doc that InDesign finds offensive.  Especially if other docx import very well. Is the formatting you want to keep?  If not, I would try to save as text only to get rid of all the formatting. Or if it's a faulty stylesheet, or manual setting, try to clear the formatting palette styles.  Could be that the docx is corrupt?  Have you tried "Save as...". "and save it as an earlier version with the .doc extension?
