  Well, I'm not theresamauser, but I'm having the same problem.  To put it in simpler terms, I'm trying to fix a laptop of HP G71-449WM here.  The operating system has completely disappeared and when I put in the recovery discs (issued by HP) I get no option of language or layout or whatever it is, it gives me a warning about erasing the whole disc to reinstall Windows.  I follow the steps from there.  He comes at the point of the 3 notches.  (1) reformat the Windows hard disk partition.
