In my opinion, this seems to be a virus. You have run any malware scans yet? Malwarebytes is a download, free and fast which can be downloaded to a flash drive and installed on the computer. No anti-virus will catch 100% of viruses, 100% of the time. However, it can cause conflicts to have more than one installed and active antivirus on the same computer at the same time.
I'd downloaded the installation files for a couple of trusted anti-virus on a flash drive and install one at the time and running a scan, quarantine of potential infections. Uninstall or shut down the first of you install before the opening of the other. After running some scans, try internet browsers.
Back up personal files
If you still have the same results, I would recommend to save all the personal files of friends on an external hard drive. It is more reliable to copy and paste the files individually, instead of using the backup software. This way you know that all his files were saved successfully.
Recovery
Once you have finished backup all files of your friend on the outside, you'll want to re - install Windows. You need not necessarily Windows disks for this. I can't connect to my user profile who is also the administrator. I get a message that the password is incorrect, however I have not changed the password.
