I had to restore my computer

OK my computer is not reconizing my sound card I do not know if I have a bad sound card or the r drivers just messed up that I have a compaq laptop so I have no sound at all and I did until I restored it

The audio device may not have been installed properly.

Method 1 make sure the default audio device is correctly set

1. on Start type sound in the box to start the search.
2. click on sound in the results of search at the top of the Start menu.
3. click on the read tab notice the check mark next to the default device. For most users, the default device is speakers. If you are using speakers as the sound device and speakers are already set as the default device, go to method 5 now.
4. Select the audio device you want as default audio device, and then click set as default.
5. click on the Properties button, then select the levels tab and make sure that the volume is at 100 and not cut.
6. click OK to save your settings and close the sound dialog box.

Method 2 reload the current sound driver

1. click on type of Start the Device Manager in the start search box and press ENTER.
In the Device Manager dialog box, expand of sound, video and game controllers.
Look for the audio device that was included with the computer.
2. right click on the device, and then click Properties.
Click driver , and then click Uninstall.
Make sure that the check box delete the driver for this device is disabled, and then click OK.
In the Device Manager dialog box, click the Action menu, and then click check for changes on the hardware. You receive a message that States that a hardware device is being installed, and then the uninstalled audio device appears in Device Manager.
Close the Device Manager dialog box.

Process 3. Let us, also check that your Audio drivers are up to date:

Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
Click the hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click continue.
Click sound, videoand game controllers , to expand.
Under sound, video and game controllers, double-click the entry for your sound card, and then click driver .
Note If a Driver tab is not present, the entry that you clicked under audio controllers, video and game may not be the correct entry for your sound card. Try to click any additional entries listed under sound, video and game controllers.
Click Update driver software.
Follow the Assistant driver software update to update the sound card driver.
