I have 2 drives in VMware Fusion showing

Hi LL! As you say, I'm a Newbie on Mac. I am on Mac OS x Leopard and had to score because my account program does not come under Mac. Fusion is ideal for the gain of startup time and re-start in and out of Windows & Mac, so after that purchase version 2 and install it, I received notification that the 2.0.1 version was available so I downloaded this upgrade. The problem is that I now have 2 VMware Fusion drives that appear on my system (Version 2.0) and Version 2.0.1 the merger shows application Version 2.0.

I had to uninstall version 2.0 before you download the new version? Or can I remove one of the disks that shows? I searched this error, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help?

It seems that what you're saying, is that you put together two different versions of Fusion .dmg file to Disk Image you downloaded and now on your desktop, you will need icons who say VMware Fusion.

VMware Fusion will not properly install if you set up two different versions of Fusion .dmg file to Disk Image at the same time that my suggestion will be to ctrl - click on each icon and select eject "VMware Fusion" and back up only the last and then install that.

  • Using the stand-alone converter 5 with entry as local windows 7 in vmware fusion 4 output, the output is a folder with many files. How can I get this folder into a single file with the extension windows7.vmwarevm?

I use standalone converter where I am converting my local windows 7 in vmware fusion 4 at the exit. When I made the migration wizard previously, I had an output of a windows7.vmwarevm file. However, when I made the converter, I had a folder called windows7. In this case, I had several files.

Is there a way for me to convert all these files into one file, that is to say: windows7.vmwarevm? do I need to use the converter or other vmware tools?

  • Updated to Lion - VMware Fusion will not load VM

I updated today to Lion and neglected if this would affect VMware Fusion. After the installation of Lion I was invited, at the start of VMware Fusion 2.x, that it was not compatible and must restart the OSX in 32-bit mode.

Instead, I upgraded my version 2.x VMW 3.1.3 (416484)... While VMW 3.1.3 starts now I get the following error message:

Cannot open the disk/users... Instant Boot Camp partition.vmarevm/Boot Camp partition.vmdk or one of the disks it depends on the reason: the specified file is not a virtual disk

I'll assume that your question is in fact to return to the physical optical drive (rather than the image of McAfee), does not actually uninstall McAfee.

Right click on the D: drive and eject it. Then go to the Virtual Machine > CD/DVD and select use physical disk drive. It is documented in the release notes to the title of "The rest McAfee antivirus ISO mounted".

  • problem with Boot Camp, VMware Fusion 3, ethernet does not (not driver)

    Hello guys,.

I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit installed in Boot Camp and I'm running as a virtual machine using VMware Fusion OSX 10.6.6 3.1.2.

The problem I have is that the ethernet does not work under VMware, even with VMware Tools installed.  Device Manager shows no driver installed.

I googled and found a lot of suggestions to add ethernet0.virtualDEV = "e1000" to the simultaneous file, but I looked and this line is already there.

I tried reinstalling VMware, VMware Tools, the Boot Camp drivers, NIC Add/Remove VMware settings, change NAT to the deck and vice versa. Nothing works.

    Any suggestions?

  • Running VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 Thunderbolt Drive

    Hi all

I am currently evaluating VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 and I my VM in my love at first sight drive (Seagate Goflex Portable).

    The guest is Windows 7 x 64

    -Allocated memory: 8 GB

    -Processor allowed: 4 cores

The host is MAC OSX 10.7.5

-Processor: Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz

    -Total memory: 16GB

I use the backup process within this comments and after a few hours of operation, VMWare Fusion does still not and crash and there is nothing I can do.

I tried logout / stop / restart my mac through normal way (click on the Apple icon and select the menu) without success. and the only way to restart my mac is press the power for a few seconds (hard reset)

If I move/copy VM file in my internal drive, this problem does not occur

Also, if you need log file, please let me know that you need and I will he pass here

PPS: I am to evaluate the software, I can not lift with VMWare support ticket

Cool, let me know how it goes.

I have too was doing some research on the same yesterday. I was focused on the memory management on the side of mac, rather than with the parameters of fusion.

There is this command "purge" which converts all inactive memory in memory without having to restart the mac. More free memory means any chance of merger to the detriment of.

Depending on the setting of fusion you found, I knew that the neutralization of him would make a difference. Because by default an automatic unbufferred mode for vista and later guest operating system which is what is needed for the best peformance.  That's why I was excluded from that.

  • 17 GB of drive space missing after the crash of vmware fusion and force restart

During my last installation of SuSE Linux, I had to manually reboot my system because my system crashed.

After the reboot, I deleted the virtual machine of Susa and started again installation. To my surprise 17 GB were mission on my hard drive and I can't find the files responsible for this. I checked my system of files larger than 500 MB via ' find /-size M + 500 ", but found nothing: (.)

Do you know where are the 17 GB or where vmware fusion may have experienced a system core dump or something like that?

Please help, I need the 17 GB for resettlement :).

    Thank you.

I have discovert that was missing only 3 GB of the 20 GB that I deleted before trying to install SuSE. But I deleted all the files that I specified after the crash. The trash is always empty so I'm a bit confused were are the 17 GB.

    Hello

Did you of recent changes to the computer?

This problem may occur if one of the following scenarios is true:

    1. pilots of filter in the CD and the DVD storage stack are not migrated successfully to Windows 7.

    2. you uninstalled CD software that fails to withdraw properly in the registry.

    3. that you have installed a software that adds filter drivers in the CD and the storage stack of DVDs that interfere with existing filters.

While the two results in a P2V and share some code/software between then, however, they are different products.  The Agent of Migration of VMware Fusion is a limited subset of what VMware vCenter Converter Standalone is able to do.  You said in your OP ""is there a way I can create a vmware file that I can move in a HARD drive rather than perform the migration on the network?". VMware vCenter Converter Standalone is the way to go if that's what you want to do.  Personally I would never, under any circumstances use the Agent of Migration of VMware Fusion and instead use other disk imaging software then manually create a Virtual Machine VMware vCenter Converter Standalone is the way to go otherwise.
