I have a problem of update/defender windows?

I think I have a problem with windows update and windows defender.

Windows Defender shows a warning to check the new definitions, but when I click on check it says definitions is up to this day of tp. Definition version: 1.67.10.0 created on 09/24/2009 at 04:23

When I use windows update it says windows is up to date, but has been updated 09/26/2009

While I don't see the error codes, I'm sure that there are some new updates.

My os is Vista Home Premium 64 - bit sp2

Hello

Defender, manually updated on the second attempt, so thanks a lot for your answers and time > thumbs up

I still think that windows update is nerfed because it has not been updates since I did the restore but ill wait a few days just to be sure.

Thanks again.

Several times I tried to 'update & Restart' my laptop that takes hours in a row, but starts can you back to say it is impossible to install the updates. • Problems after update of Windows 8

I have 3 HP Sleekbooks same spec, 2 are running Windows 8 64 bits and 1 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - Bit.

On one of the Windows 8 units that he started having unexplained problems with the internet, when you first start internet would work. Trying to play Club Penguin crashed the browser, no error it just stopped responding. Also try to connect to my router config page would do the same thing. Once IE has stopped responding that you couldn't go to any site, on the desktop a browser just empty page would be displayed without address. Running of the subway I / f the big E is displayed on a blue background for about 10 seconds and then returns to the metro I / f.

I tried allsorts to solve the problem, but ended up reloading of the laptop. Everything worked great until I did the updates of Windows and then the problem comes back. As a work around Club Penguin worked fine on Chrome, I thought it must just be a strange problem with the laptop.

The 2nd laptop Windows 8 worked very well, Windows Update had not been performed for about 2 weeks on this laptop. I was installing a new software and decided to update Windows as well. Exactly the same problem occurred, but IE had trouble to access almost all sites. I have restored the PC before the updates and it works again.

The Windows 7 machine has all the updates and works very well.

Is there a problem with the last batch of updates for Windows 8?

    Anyone else had similar problems?

I did a little test and I think that I found the cause of the problem.

Laptop 2 - this is the one I restored to before the updates. I've installed every update, one at a time and not a whole lot. So far no problem.

Laptop 1 - I removed the patches that I have installed on the computer laptop 2, the problem was still present. I then installed to each update one by one. I still have the same problems, internet intermittent and unable to use Club Penguin or connect to my router. I had already tried resetting IE but still made once without success.

I then looked in the error log and the only error that seems to occur at the same time was the following:

    HTTPEvent

The settings of SSL certificate created by a process admin for endpoint: 0.0.0.0:52000

Did a search online above and found a reference to 360 from Symantec, we use Defender antivirus but we use Norton Family for parental control.

I uninstalled Norton Family and everything started working again. What is really strange, is that these laptops are for my children and I was connect using my account admin but Norton Family does not monitor this account, but still problems.

I have re-installed Norton Family and the problem came back.

All thoughts, I don't want to leave children unprotected online.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

REP 1) If you didn't have a problem with Windows 7 but only with Windows 10, probably the problems resolve and will not happen on Win 7. I can't guarantee 100% but it seems normal.

REP 2) Yes, if you go back to your previous operating system (aka Win 7), you will be able to try to Win 10 later if you wish.

    A few tips:

    Hi pittsburghfather,

Thank you for using Microsoft Windows forum

Microsoft regularly issues updates or patches to fix security problems in their software.  The critical updates are ones that you should be concerned.  If they are not implemented, it leaves your computer vulnerable to hackers.  Service Packs are updated larger who upgrade and resolve security issues.

The built-in Windows Update to Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP can check your PC against a common database of patches.  You have access to a Microsoft web site and your operating system is checked against critical updates and a list of proposed shows to your PC so that you can download and install these.  You must periodically.

More recent versions of windows have an automatic update function.  It is available in Windows 2000, ME and XP.  If you enable this feature, your PC will be to search for, download, and install critical updates at night.  This eliminates the need for you to check periodically for updates.

Usually updated Automatic download and install automatically, without intervention of that whatsoever. You also have an option of download and installation of updates by disabling the automatic updates manually.

    1. click on start and then click Control Panel.

    2. view function Panel you use, classic or category, do one of the following values:

    * Click system, and then click the Automatic Updates tab.
    * Click performance and Maintenance, click System, and then click the Automatic Updates tab.

    3. click on the desired option. Make sure that automatic updates is not turned off.

In Device Manager, does show an audio device any or is it an element appearing as an unknown device? If there is an unknown device, then try to remove and then search for the hardware changes and see if it detects your audio files.

  • Problem with updates on Windows 8 - Configuration has failed & returning Exchange

    First of all

I want to apologize for asking questions about the problem which has been solved so many times...

... and yet it seems that no solution applies to / solved my problem.

Let me describe my situation and context "briefly":

I have install Windows 8 Pro, I have installed in September 2012. I had been provided with Win 7 and Win 8 activation as a computer SCIENCE student keys during my studies. I have not used 8 win a lot since I preferred Win 7 and I only wanted to test the 'product '.

Judging by the time when previous updates have been installed, the system was launched several times in March 2013, December 2013 and January 2014. After that, the system "folded" so far. When I launched the system on 26.07.2015 there was like 50 updates that have been prepared (or wanted to be installed... Let's say "pending"). About 30 of them installed successfully. Then I double-checked. I used to double check the availability of updates when some fail to install (mainly from my previous experience that sometimes an update is no longer necessary when another installs).

    Now, to the point...

I have 133 major and 3 optional updates that want to be installed. Everything that I select (few of them), or all of them fail to install. Installation begins normally, then needs to restart (all) and during the nex to the top starting, the updates can "Configuring updates... 98% ' and then fail and are starting to go back.

The system is more or less vanilla installation with some basic drivers and the 3DMarks so I doubt that I've caused this problem.

I've been googling and try to solve this problem for 5 days now, here's what I found:

    1. first of all, I tried sfc / scannow to see if there is any corruption. I received the message that some files were corrupted and could not be repaired. The launch of 6 and 7 of this order, I finally got the "Windows Resource Protection has not found any breach of integrity." (it is true however that I tried a lot of solutions in the meantime). However before that, the CBS.log newspaper included information that:

    Cannot repair Member "utc.app.json" file

(also of telemetry ".") "ASM - WindowsDefault.json" and I think that 'Amd64\CNBJ2530. PBO' have been mentioned... several times)

But as I said, from this moment I do not have this problem.

    2. because I had problem with CFS, I tried DISM.

    ScanHealth gave:

    The component store is repairable.
    The operation completed successfully.

    However, RestoreHealth was not optimistic:

The restore operation failed. Be the source of repair was not found or the comp
    onent store is not repairable.

    The journal includes:

Preparation of control system was updated.

    Summary:
    Operation: Detect and repair
    Result of the operation: 0x0
Last successful step: any operation is complete.
    Total of Corruption detected: 0
    CBS manifest Corruption: 0
    CBS damaged metadata: 0
    Corruption shows CSI: 0
Corruption of the CSI metadata: 0
The Corruption of the CSI Payload: 0
    Total fixed Corruption: 0
    Repaired CBS manifest: 0
    Manifesto of CSI repaired: 0
    Repaired CSI payload: 0
    CSI store metadata refreshed: true

    3. the 'solution' next I'm focused on a system reserved partition. I came to the information Windows 7 uses 100 MB Sys. Reserved partition while Windows 8 uses 350 MB. I think I stumbled on information that it can be connected to the problems so modified the partition of provision (safely, in regards to the system reserved partitions and Windows 8) and increased the extra partition of 250 MB. This however proves to not be connected.

    4. some sources claimed that C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution/download content may be the case. So after the Windows Update service has stopped I deleted the download content (I think on 1 try I deleted event pending.xml from WinSxS. Of course then I restarted the redownloaded updates of service, etc...

    5. I tried the update servers MS Windows Diagnostic.cab (just for the record, this tool renames pending.xml among others). This diagnosis is always problems no matter how many times I launch. It shows sometimes 2, sometimes 3 questions for example:

Here are the main 'solutions' that I tried, but as you can guess, none of them worked. Just for the Windows registry has reported these problems viac Action Center:

And I also found some information in WindowsUpdate.log:

    2015-08-02 01:27:28, error CSI 00000004@2015/8/1:23:27:28.681 (F) CMIADAPTER: failed. HRESULT = c004f01f [error facility = FACILITY_ITF, Code = 61471 (0xf01f)]

Here, the infamous rollback is mentioned. I was not able to identify the exact update (or updated) what causes these cancellations so I hope it's something I could be helped with at least. The internet is full of KBs that this cause so I can't count on that, at least for now. I also want to note that I tried everything under boot. And also can not clean installation since I have no more join the MSDNAA where I had as a student activation key. I hope that I could upgrade to Windows 10 without him in the coming months, so that's why I concentrate on getting this environment to work and migrate to it in time.

I'll be very grateful to anyone who can help me with this problem.

    In & out.

    John

Given that no one could help you, I myself helped ^^.

First of all, to all those who have problems with the fact that their updates install suddenly, you must change the settings for Windows Update. Change the option other than an automaticall installation (I used the automatic download, manual installation). In this way, you can install the updates in smaller batches. Personally, I installed updates to 5 or 10 (or almost). The updates that have been tens of MB, I installed only. What struck me most surprised, I could (at the time) to install all updates. In the case where you wouldn't you know at least certainly update you need to solve the problems.

After all updates have been installed, I turned on the automatic download and installation.

    Concerning

  • Problems after updating to Windows 8

I had some problems with my new laptop so I decided to try the «Refresh your PC» function Doing so brought on a slew of new problems which I had no chance to solve on my own. I hope someone knows what to do with this mess.

After "refreshing" to my PC, my laptop wouldn't let me:
Install anything (downloads are OK, though)
Programs open (with the exception of Internet Explorer)
    Applications open
    Open C: /.
    Open the laptop settings
Solve problems ("an error has occurred during troubleshooting.")

It became obvious to me that the majority of these problems were because the updating of Windows me rid of my administrative privileges.

I tried to solve this problem with every idea that I had and every suggestion I could find online. The problem is that my phone won't allow me to do anything to capture administrative privileges.

Here are the solutions I tried:
'Change the Type of account' in the user accounts: parameters show that I am already administrator.  The 'Standard' option is greyed out. Nothing to do here.

Using a command prompt: everything I try, I get the "Network Error" result... "Windows cannot access to ' if I get" net user administrator / Active: Yes "I received the reply"the system 5 error has occurred. Access is denied. "I can only assume this error occurs because I'm not an administrator. If I try to do "sfc/scannow" it says "You must be an administrator." However it won't let me run cmd as administrator.

Exchange User Account Control: the bar is set on "notify me only when...". ». I can drag down to "Never notify", but when I try to click on 'OK' will not just pass by. I could click OK all day and nothing will happen. No error message.
Create a new user: hit this button head to PC settings, which does not, as previously stated.
Clean boot: Msconfig will not open, I get the error message "network error". Windows cannot access.
Switch to the Microsoft account: 'Users' directs 'PC settings", which is an application that does not open.
CHKDSK: whatever it is, I have no idea, but it does not open.

If I try to "Run as Administrator" on any program, it simply doesn't. No error message.

I reached the end of my rope after trying several solutions more that hasn't worked and tried to do a system restore. System Restore does not open. I get the error message "System Restore could not start." I would try to solve the problems, but as I said troubleshooting will not, work almost everything also, runs to the PC settings application, which does not open.

None of these problems existed before I did the update of Windows, so I can only assume what caused their - which is a little disconcerting.

Any ideas on what to do?

I had this problem after that refreshing of my pc, if yours is the same (if it could even be your best solution) you will need to make a new account

    Windows + x

    go to "Control Panel".

go to "user accounts and family safety."

    Press 'user account '.

    Press 'manage other accounts '.

In light blue shades near the bottom, it says "add a new user".

Follow all instructions after that to make your new account

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. If all else fails, it's the only way I know how to deal with it
