I have disabled the automatic update, but it will however update! How to disable?

I use version 34 and I don't want to update becase the plugins work correctly with the newer versions. I disabled the automatic updates check in preferences, but updates of firefox sometimes! It makes me very angry, I'm tired to restore my backups. What should I do to prevent the automatic update forever! I'll be able to update the program if I need!

Mozilla Maintenance Service can be updated Firefox for you. Disabling updates of Firefox does not stop this 'service' to make updates.

original title: Windows Update acts confused - kb955759 does not appear when I check the updates manually, but it appears with the yellow shield after you have enabled the automatic updates.

I just reset my CMOS settings, writing zeros for my hard drive, repartitioned, reformatted and used the recovery cd Gateway system to get my computer to Windows 98se - factory settings, except at the beginning of the recovery of the system, when it says "press any key for advanced options," I pressed a key and then I unchecked all the default (3rd party) applications including Norton and left only 2 checked: "Updated USB Hub" and "Windows Shutdown Supplement," while nothing has been installed, leaving only win98.

Then I used my disc XP Home (SP2) update.  I, immediately after the upgrade to Windows XP, installed "Office XP with Frontpage, Developer Edition", then Norton 2012 before never connect to the internet.
Then, I connected to the internet and continuously update of Norton, before ever hitting the Windows Update page. The first thing I did then was to activate Windows, and then activate the office.
Then I hit the update of Windows "button" that says "get all your updates in one place... upgraded"Microsoft Update".  I, then, just kept hitting the page update and restart, until I find the SP3.  Then, I took a break, until the next day.

I have an ADSL broadband, with a Linksys EtherFast PCI card.

Then I got SP3, which installed without any problems.
So I just kept "microsoft continuous update" manually (and reboot), until there is no more updates - EXCEPT, I always uncheck Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - which was the only screening at the final stop for the night.  I think that I ticked the box "don't ask me about this update".

Then, in the morning, after you have enabled automatic updates, I noticed the yellow shield - Windows security icon (or whatever it's called), so I clicked on it and checked it was tellimg me was available [when I checked "Custom Install (advanced users)"].  What showed was 1 update - 955759 KB.

After the problem, already at the reformat (months and months), see the yellow shield telling me there are updates available, which were already installed (before rebooting), I checked manually on the internet with IE 8, pressing alt, "T", "U".  There is no updated list.  Then I checked through my history of update (twice), and KB955759 had not been installed.

My update setting is to let windows download ('important') updates, but let me choose when to install them.

What is the right - Windows Update (NO update important reporting) Site, or the yellow shield (reports [a] kb955759 [update])?

I can not yet confirm he is supposed to be an update for XP home kb955759, because I was unable to locate any detailed documentation on this 'thing' that protect the yellow safety seems to think is a significant update.

Just for the heck of it, I have disabled the automatic updates, cleared my browser cache, checked manually, updates from microsoft (windows) and found none (with the exception of software malware removal tool windows [which I have not installed]).  Then, I turned the automatic updates on, and without even being connected to the internet, the yellow shield popped up with the kb955759 "update"...

    1. If you open Internet Explore (only!) to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and run a CUSTOM scan, KB955759 appears in results?... If so, you manage to install it and/or security updates available?

2 after no. 1 above [<>], is the 'yellow shield' icon appears in the Notification area (on the left of your clock)?  .. and if yes, by clicking on the 'yellow shield' icon tells you that KB955759 or any other updates is ready-to-be-installed?  .. .and if so, you manage to install it?

3 after doing 1 # & #2 above [<>], is KB955759 or any other updates offered as a ready-to-install update when you go off your computer?  .. .and if so, you manage to install it?

... I guess that clearing the browser cache does not erase 'downloaded' updates.

Nope. If you want to clear the queue of the update...

    you have the service disabled?

Click Start > run > type in services.msc box and Microsoft Management Console will be open.

Search for automatic updates. Right-click the line, and then click Properties. In the dialog that opens, make sure Startup Type is automatic. Click on apply. Wait for it. Then click Start under Service status. You will see another pop-up window but it is a progress bar. If the service does not start, you will get an error. Otherwise, you will see wuauserv in the Task Manager. You should also see the yellow shield which shows you download updates. Also check your Windows Firewall and third-party firewall installed on the machine. Another place is the router/modem. You may need your ISP to help with the party.

  • How to disable the automatic updates?

    Hi all

I would like to disable the automatic updates and be able to manually check for updates without it becomes a task complicated.

The only answer I could find so far is the following: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/disable-auto-updates-application-manager.html

Is this the only solution? Because, in reading the notes, also seem to which would prevent me from easily control updates. Have I misunderstood?

I absolutely need to do because when I'm at work, in my office, I have absolutely no problem connecting.

But coming to the House, in a very rural village with a... Let's say "connecting powered-pigeons", automatic updates can become a serious problem for me.

    Thank you in advance!

    Carlo

Acrobat has its own settings to update.  Open your preferences and disable the auto update.  I'm no expert, but Acrobat seems to be a strange duck in the world of CC.  Although it is part of the CC, it still seems to work more as a stand-alone product.

  • Download Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 but the automatic updates do not work.

Hello. Thanks in advance for your help here.

I am at a loss to know what to do.

Recently, I downloaded Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007, which seems to be very well. The problem is the automatic updates do not work. After searching online, I did the start > run > Winver and he says I have Service Pack 3. Then I went to control panel in Add/Remove Programs, and even if it is listed, there is no indication that it is actually installed.

I remember a year or there are problems with SP3, when I tried to upgrade to IE8 so "I THINK" I removed it. Probably shouldn't have done that!  But IE8 has worked fine once I removed it. Microsoft says that we will no longer receive automatic updates to SP2 in June and so we have to upgrade to SP3.  Well, I just don't know what I have on my computer at this point!

Anyway, now I get these failed messages on the updates for the Office:

The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Update for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB967642)
Update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB951944)
Update of security for Microsoft Office 2007 (KB951550)

So I thought I'd download the SP2.  But I did not know if Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 actually means I have SP2 installed or not.  And I got in such a mess last year I don't want to take any chances again.

I'm sorry that it is a message that is too long. I tried to print screens to attach more information, but that did not work. Let me know what you need.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

    Diane

I found more information. Looking in my history of update for automatic updates, all 4 of these updates failed have the same error Code which is: 0 x 80070663.  I don't know if this info helps solve this problem or not, but that's it.

    Hello

    a. you are able to download and install updates in Windows other than Microsoft Office?

If you have SP3 listed in the Windows Version (winver) which ensures that you have Windows XP SP3 installed.

Let us download the updates manually and install them, here are the links to download.

Note: Make sure also that you have the prerequisites installed as indicated in the articles above.

I have Windows XP Professional version 2002 service pack 3, this computer is on a network, but it is NOT the server. This update hase until now tried to install 24 times, and continues on a daily basis through automatic updates. Initially, I tried several things to actually force the installation until I found a link here, who said that he was only for servers. So, I need two things... If I do not need this update and how to stop it coming as an update critical for my computer? or if it's my computer, how can I install?

  • Disabling the automatic update of Shockwave

I know that with flash, you can create a file mms.cfg under system32, c:\windows\system32\macromed, flash, but I wasn't sure of how to go about disabling the shockwave auto update feature without using the settings on the adobe Web site manager. Has anyone found any information on how to proceed for shockwave?

Thanks in advance for everyone to help.

    Alrighty, I found it.

After digging and ending up on the second page of a google search, I found a post on the embeddable forum under Macromedia Web players Adobe who seems showed me a very simple answer that does not even not worth looking for.

I was puzzled at the fact that the registry under HKLM key was not affecting all features automatic update to Shockwave. In addition, manually turn off the automatic updates, the registry setting was not changed to "n". Curious.

In any case, it turns out that the functionality is under:

    HKCU\Software\Adobe\Shockwave 11\AutoUpdate

    Change (default), "n".

For security measure I also mirrored the same setting in:

    HKCU\Software\Macromedia\Shockwave 10\AutoUpdate

Yes, installing Adobe Shockwave 11 place the entrance to file and register Shockwave 10 in your registry and c:\WINDOWS\System32\macromed\ database after it runs for the first time in a window of IE.

    Hope this helps others.

TB 31.5.0 Win 7 after the TAB key for the automatic update no longer creates new address line "write" (enter the done key) but I want the TAB key! Why is - this seems to happen after each automatic update? Cant we get 'option' to use the TAB key to navigate through the lines of address "write"?

TAB through the fields that exist. It is the function of the TAB.

Otherwise you could never use TAB to go out in a field for example: subject. It would create an indefinate number of fields and are unable to function as a TAB key.

TAB does not back to THE fields,
New crests to THE fields or donkey typing/selection enter/return address, you can use the selection of mouse click.
