Try the following and see if the crash stops:

· Your PC will change back to their default values.

· A list of removed apps will be saved to your desktop.

These steps will take you through refreshing your PC:

· Press the Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

· Click settings

· Click change PC settings

· Click general in the left column

· Under refresh your PC without affecting your files, click Start

Then follow the instructions that will be provided on-screen to cool your PC.

  • I had to reinstall Windows Xp Pro, the product key will not work.

I have not changed any hardware or anything like that. I downloaded the updates of msupdates and my computer went the fritz would not do anything. I reinstalled windows xp pro from the restore disc that came with my computer. The product key is not accepted by windows to activate it. I need to know what to do. It's a Dell optiplex 2.8 gig Board and proc 2 gig of ram. Anyway when I bought.

Hi, I am assuming that you are unable to activate your XP via internet, you can try the phone holder to turn on.

You will be asked of the remote computer to give the support page for phone numbers.

You will then receive a new set of numbers to activate your XP.

If this does not work, you will be directed to a Microsoft employee. Explain your problem and if they are happy with your answer will give you an activation key.

You can reinstall using the same product key if it is a retail license or if it came preloaded with your laptop.

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • impossible to reinstall windows XP pro...

Hi, I'm hoping there's an Assistant "you have not" reading of this...

I got tired of random programs from decide who wanted not run/open/work at all without reason aparant, some viruses of compensation or foolishly setting set somewhere im enough computer but I have the wrost chance in the known universe.

sort of, I'm so fed up with progs (Itunes 10, steam and a few others which im not to bothered all) does not work after reinstalling and ask questions on the support pages (no awnsers), I went to my irritable Local store "Yet-to-be-tamed" and am myself a Xp pro SP2 boot disk, I bung inside as he told me how to "repair" Reinstall if I lose any data/settings (I wondered weather it is possible but what _ I'l give it a shot.) So I stuck the cd player, auto run, I chose the installer of windows... a black magic happened, an error that happened (sorry I forgot what he said... no doubt VERY important, something put in shape) I click ok... He continues... cool it restarts... running the ASUS... What ever, it's that I had with the MB, entry of the Os, POST Hits startup boot screen... Then the Group of experts of vacuum... not even a mouse... the screen remains black keyboard stays on... CD player still spinning... nothing... then a new sound arrives, a little like a horn noise sounds / burrr dissaproval. I can enter the place of startup parameters (forget his name) and allso I can't enter the menu "what do you start from", but none or the start device setting will get me anywhere. This have on earth I did... that is why I hope that there is a reading assistant.

Oh allso not even invite him "press a key to continue."

I searched on google for about 3 hours... try each veriation of 'I failed to reinstall win xp pro' I think.

Aparantly... PERSON fails as hard as I do, that I have not found a single person who ahs experianced this. 0.o

I gave up with the Go how ever many music... game saves, docs edited, all, I fortunately will wipe away everything just to get it working again. I don't just save my data any more, if I can save is great, but I'm not going to be bothered if I lose everything...

I'll pop in my shop techy "yet to be tamed" and beg you to help me.

but for the time being. you guys will have to put up with me for abit.

Sorry for the spelling and I thank you for any response. bad or good.

  • Upgrade of large computers without having to reinstall windows 7 PRO?

    Hello, all the

I'll be upgrading the motherboard, sound, video, memory, and processor on my current computer (I built it myself).  I will keep the same disk configuration.

I have here some so that I can do this without having to reinstall Windows again?  My copy of Windows 7 Pro is a copy retail NOT oem.

I read a bunch of different items on the net, but responses varied considerably.  My apps are all installed on the boot drive and all data, backups and documents are in a separate table in mirror. I'm trying NOT to do a clean install, because I have about 27 apps, some of which are quite massive and would take me more than a full day to reinstall.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeffrey

PS, just in case I need to specify the components, they are:

MOBO - ASUS AM3 MSI AM3 + both with RAID support (hardware)

Processor - AMD Phenom 8 core Core AMD FX Vichera 6

Sound - Sound Blaster Audigy (legacy) to Sound Blaster Audigy PCI Express

    Video card will not change

No, I think you need to perform the migration of a motherboard to another as simple as possible. No devices, cards Add on or what that what else option means that Windows is more likely to address changes in pilots limited successfully.

Then restore optional lights preferably one at a time.

Each RAID (manufacturer) solution can use proprietary systems, but within the same manufacturer, they tend to be fairly stable. I left a RAID Intel ICH6 for ICH9 without any problem. Also keep in mind that a mirrored pair does NOT use any form of ownership anyway. Set them on a platform no RAID and the data must be fully accessible.

  • missing Ntoskrnl.exe and other errors when who reinstall windows 7 pro 64-bit

I had windows installed on a HARD drive and received an SSD and I decided on the SSD HARD drive image, so I wouldn't have to reinstall. As I suspected it might that cause some problems and I decided to simply wipe the SSD drive and attempt to reinstall. I wiped the SSD and started my windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 DVD. It will pass through the first process (Windows loading files) with the screen of levels of grey and the downstairs, but subsequently loading bar, I get an error telling me that the ntoskrnl.exe is missing or damaged, and I have no option other than to try again to load the disc, or stop. I have another disc of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit I tried to use, and it gave me the same message. There are a few other errors I received, I do not at the moment, but as soon as I get some time and if I get them again once I will update the thread with this info.

I also ran memtestx86 and there were errors with a specific location, but I just removed the RAM of this niche and I guess it should be OK after that. Am I wrong?

I am the computer OEM. If I need to provide more information please let me know and I can accommodate.

    Thank you.

The problem was with RAM. One of my 4GB DIMMS was bad. I removed and changed my poles autour needed and I could boot disk Windows 7 Pro and install correctly.

A faulty RAM stick was causing the problem.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 Pro on new 2 TB HDD freezes on Windows startup screen

My 160 GB hard drive crashed and I am trying to install Windows 7 Pro from the installation disc that came with my computer on my new hard drive 2 TB.  I read the posts that took even freeze on Windows startup screen and I disconnected all devices and devices except the mouse and keyboard.  I don't have 2 GB of memory simms, 8 GB installed, but has released simm all but one.  I tried to reinstall Windows 7 Professional several times and whenever it crosses the screen of facilities, then when the computer restarts it freezes at the Windows startup screen.  Help!

    Evelyn,

    (1) I have an idea which may simply not work. Install the software of Western Digital's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics.

    (2) then select / click on the Seagate 2 TB of disk.

    (3) then click on the little icon above the list of player who scored "click to run tests.

    (4) in the popup windows choose the option "write zeros". Click 'Start' and select the fastest two write options who writes zero for beginners / before the command and at the end / last sectors on the disk. It will take about 2 minutes or less. Once the zero finished writing your drive will be in a State of 'Raw' (just as if you removed from the box for the first time).

    (5) open "Disk management", you should see a windows asking you to 'Initialize' the reader. Choose the MBR (Master Boot Record "option.

    Now try to install Windows.
