I'll be able to run games that I run on Xp as well as Vista?

Currently, I play games like Crysis at high details. I am running Windows Xp 32-bit.
If I had vista I would be able to operate the same way I run them now? just as smooth.

Comp Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHZ
NVIDIA 9500 Gt 1 GB
4 GB of dual channel memory
333 GB HDD

Hello WindowsFanatic1,

Thank you for posting.  I the full game of Crysis myself and he play very well with the joystick Xbox 360 on my Vista ultimate 64 bit PC without any problem what so ever.  Now as to how smoothly, it will run will depend on you choose them the graphics settings and the ability of the video card itself.  Crysis on Vista will allow you to use the Direct X 10 high graphics settings.  Some of your old games may need to be run in compatibility mode to work properly (especially the games created in XP the first period).  As your PC can handle Crysis, then you shouldn't have really a lot of problems playing other games.

Please let me know if this helps you.

Happy game

It's not a problem. Microsoft Security Essentials disables Defender
because it contains the same features. It's good, not bad.

  • Most of the games that require 'run as administrator' not loading well much of the time, sometimes even resulting in a blue screen

OK, so the point is around 2 specific games that I play with my friend, those Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends. The two I need to aprove make changes to the computer to start. Together with launch normally, but when it comes to load a game, I'm gambling or not my pc will fuction when the loading is complete.

The problems differ from a partial freeze with occasional spikes along the screen to a snowy screen and sometimes even a blue screen or a forced reboot.

I doubt that the problem has nothing to do with the required performance, especially when it comes to League of Legends. My pc is brand new and it can run the latest game call duty on high graphics with no problems at all and it is several times heavier on the required performance than the other two 2.

Any ideas what could be causing it and how can I solve it?

My pc runs on Windows 7 on an AMD Athlon II x 4 630 to 2.80 GHz proccessor 2 GB of RAM, the card mother M4A785TD-V EVO and a gainward gt 240 512 MB GDDR3 graphics card.

Thank you all for trying to help me.

  • If I use Windows 7 Professional with the English edition, it would be possible for me to run games that are in Chinese (which means read Chinese characters correctly)?

I noticed her Ultimate version has the language program 35 or more. However, I highly doubt my computer having the power to enforce that. I have to use something like Microsoft Applocale in order to be able to play games then?

    pchau,
I think that your game should work normally and if it is written in Chinese as the display language then it should work.  Best thing to do is to create a restore point and then install the game and try it.  Let us know what happens.

  • Can I run a game that has been installed in a Windows version of 32-bit with a 64-bit OS?

That's the question, please answer me.

    Very likely... :)

Most of the games are very good with few 76. The exceptions are-

Very old games of 16 bits (pre 2000) often have 16-bit setup programs that do not work on 64-bit.

They can often be installed on a 32-bit and copied computer at work 64-bit and again.

Some of the most popular games of old have new installers that are compatible with 64-bit available on fan sites.

It is not the OS that is causing the problem with a lot of games. This is the DRM (copy protection) not not grateful

    an OS 64-bit as legitimate.
' 04-'06 are bad years of DRM. The older Starforce , Tages DRM are the most problematic.

Two associated DRM issues are - unsigned drivers (Win7 64-bit not only) or - the DRM is not compatible with 64 bit.

There are several fixes that will get most of the running games-

-Floors has a 64 bit update available on their Web site that works for The Witcher (possibly others).
-When a game cannot be executed because of the more zealous DRM it can very often be fixed with a 'noCD' patch

These can come from a couple of web sites (Mega Games), but some games do not have a noCD patch available.

Then, there are a few games that don't work on Win7 64 bit. Some 16-bit and BACK according to need of games

  • am wanting to run an older game that uses x 86(32 bit) or x 64 (64-bit). is there a way to get windows 7 to run it. is there a download available?

as stated above, I want to find a patch or update to run this game. is there one. ?

What game it maybe a patch but how can say us without knowing the game?

Have you tried Windows 7 compatibility mode to see if that helps? Try to run as a version of windows that your program runs with i.e. WXP sp3 maybe? If this does not help, try marking for "run as Administrator" as well and have a look at some of the other options it offers that they can help.

If it still doesn't work try to install the game in compatibility mode (that is, run the installer in compatibility mode) as well as to run the game in compatibility mode.

Is your program listed in recent compatibility, in the affirmative, as who says?

Have you looked on the support site for the game (his publishers or factory, etc.), to see if they offer a hotfix or Windows 7 tips. Some do it.

  • I can't seem to be able to play games, (I have before)

I just bought a new laptop Acer Aspire E1-471.

And there was a lot of virus and worms on it for some reason any.
When I installed Norton 360 and did a full scan in safe mode it found a total of 60 viruses and worms. but when I turned it back to normal, he stopped aero and almost all of the games.
I updated the latest updated and tried to install different drivers from the acer Web site.
The games and Aero worked before. The laptop has:

    -Intel Core i3 - 2328M.,

    -Intel HD Graphics 3000,
    -2 GB of DDR3 memory

And it runs on Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hello

-You receive an error message while trying to turn on Aero?
-What are the games that you're not able to launch (Microsoft Games or all games from third-party manufacturer?
-What is the error message accurate/complete that you receive everything by trying to run games?

    For the question about Aero:
Step 1: I suggest you follow the steps to run the troubleshooter from the link and if it helps.
    Open the Aero Troubleshooter
    For reference:

Step 2: If the problem persists, I suggest that you want to run the auditor of file system (CFS) analyze and check if it helps.

SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    (a) click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.

    (b) right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue

    (c) at the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7?

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Step 3: Run a full scan of the system to ensure that your computer is free of viruses and malicious software on your computer.

    Microsoft safety scanner

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection. For a real-time protection that helps you keep your home or small office PC against viruses, spyware and other malicious software, download Microsoft Security Essentials.

    Step 4: Clean boot

I suggest to maintain the computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem persists.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the troubleshooting steps, see step 7 in binding boot is a way of putting your computer to normal startup mode.

Step 5: For the question links to games, I suggest you to provide more information to help you further.

    Hope this information helps.

I deleted all the games that come with Windows XP including Solitaire.  How can I get that back?

    Hi andypily1,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

Try the steps one by one and check below.

    STEP 1:
How do I add or remove games in Windows XP
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307768

    STEP 2:

In most cases if the games are deleted from the computer files will remain on the computer.

I suggest that you are looking for game files in the system32 folder.

Later, click on Start menu click on run and type c:\\windows\system32 in the following search of the window for the file of games like free cell. If you get the files in the system32 folder then copy the file to c:\\program files\start menu\ later in the game folder.

    STEP 3:
If fails it above steps, try a system restore to the point when the game was available on the computer.

See the link below to learn how to perform the system restore.
