I'll be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Vista boot problems?

original title: Windows Vista failed to start. I'll be able to upgrade to Windows 7, even if the computer does not start?

Vista will not start after a Windows Update I tried to prevent. Tired of Vista. Ordered Windows 7 and want to upgrade. Can I switch by inserting the installation disk or I have to do a custom install and lose all the files?

You cannot use an upgrade disk to do a full install - it will not activate (you would think that this has worked, but it didn't, and then you'll be stuck with having to re - install Vista with a full format and then update).  You need to upgrade a working Vista system started in normal mode.  It cannot be upgraded just by using the disc.

I suggest you post your problem of Vista in the Windows Update Forum Update: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads , where updates experts will be happy to help you.  Please post with the information requested here:what to post in the Windows Update forum.  You must fix Vista before you can upgrade to Windows7 (unless you have a complete installation Windows7 disk then you can do an installation clean, but will not upgrade and you will lose everything on the hard drive that you save first).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

    Hello

Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.

There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.

Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

  • I'm trying to upgrade to windows 7 Vista but not like the 40 GB c: partition has only 3 GB free.

TRY TO UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 7 BUT C: DRIVE FULL DESPITE THE REMOVAL OF ALL UNNECESSARY PROGRAMS

I'm trying to upgrade to windows 7 Vista but not like the 40 GB c: partition has only 3 GB free. Removed all unnecessary programs, etc. If you only really have Vista on C: drive but still showing 37GB used. Any ideas how I can release another 6 GB of free space.
    Tahnks a lot

I hate to say it, but it would be a great time for a bigger hard drive.  While 40 GB meets at least for installation you really need more for in-place-upgrading a system using 37 GB.  Setup needs space for temporary files, its own temporary relocation, etc.

  • Satellite A200 - upgrade to Windows 7 - DVD Player problems weird!

    Hello

I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 rather than replace my A200, which is always good as new after 3 1/2 years...

In typical MS fashion, the upgrade was not incident free, but the main problem is that my DVD drive will no longer read my 2007 Microsoft Office installation disc.

I CAN read the disc I've burned before the upgrade (with files/photos matching on etc.)

Someone at - it ideas? Tried to update the driver and by stopping the service Detection hardware kernel (such as recommended on a forum of MS), but no luck

    Thanks in advance!

    > main problem is that my DVD drive will no longer read my 2007 Microsoft Office installation disc.
A friend of mine had the same problem with the disc of MS Office.
It was not possible to read this disc, but other drives were compatible.
He cleaned the drive laser lens with a hint of alcohol and cotton wool, and it helped.

If I update to Windows vista home premium, windows 7 Home premium or professional, I need another key to update or my vista key will cover for her. Also can I use my key of vista on windows 7? Someone please answer

You will need to purchase a Windows 7 Product Key/drive upgrade Vista to Windows 7.

You cannot use your Vista on Windows 7 key.

And Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional is NOT an upgrade path.

  • Windows 7 running slow will be upgraded to windows 10 clear of problems

I am running windows 7 Professional 64-bit, but it raised a number of questions and is slow.

The standard way to solve this would be to do a clean reinstall.  If I want to upgrade to Windows professional 10 this will have the same effect, or I have to re - install Windows 7 first before the upgrade.

Also, on my second computer I am also running P 7 Professional but the 32 bit version.  Can I download the Windows Professional 64-bit for this machine 10 and doing a full install instead of upgrade Windows 7 32-bit to 32-bit Windows 10.

Doing one in put place at level will not solve your performance problems. In fact, this could worsen.

You can perform a clean when install upgrade to Windows 10:

  • Windows Vista boot problems, need to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to work around

original title: VISTA Boot Up problem

I have an emachine with Vista for over 2 years with no problems, but recently, when I turn on the PC I get a black screen that says: "Boot From CD-ROM AHCI.  NVIDIA Boot Agent 249.0542.  Client MAC ADDR: 00 1 D 72 A9 D7 B6 GUIDE FFFFFF... "In order to get past this screen, I press Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will then start VISTA.  The last 3 days, the Ctrl-Alt-Delete method failed the first time and I had to repeat up to 3 times.  Now I wonder how long the Ctrl-Alt-Del bypass method will last.  What can I do to get the pc to boot normally again?

    start in safe mode.

    Choose Repair computer

Or the last known good configuration.

If windows loads in safe mode then uninstall any recently installed.

Maybe do a system restore to an earlier date.

  • Phone L40 (PSL43E) Pro - upgrade to Windows 7 Vista Basic

    Hello

I was throughout the forums and have not really found the answers I was looking for.

I did a new install of Windows 7 on my L40 but I get questions with bsod, random blocks etc so I thought it was time I did something. When I did the installation initially he wasn't any official Windows 7 drivers download (which I see now there).

I was wondering if someone had made the trip from Vista Basic to Pro 7?
And if so if you upgrade the BIOS (like updating the BIOS description States it is for Windows Vista only?) and if there is anything that I might need to know (as I see that a few people have been complinaing to post the update of the dead motherboard?).

Also, the expression "Value package" keeps popping up on the forum, I can see that there is a download of Windows 7 for this although the description to download again claims that it is for use with Windows Vista only?

I'll be happy to write to the top a complete race for future reference is that I could get a few more "confirmed" information

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

To be honest I m L40 not owner but I installed Windows 7 on my old Win XP laptop and it works even if Windows 7 was not official published for this device.

Usually nothing should be wrong, that you can download here the VAP for Win 7, which was released for other series of mobile most recent. The VAP does not depend on the series notebook its compatible with all models.

There are also a lot of users in the Satellite L forum which has installed Win 7 on the L40 and it works correctly.

    high grade to windows 7

I got a windows vista I had trouble with the computer just as I got it. I had a hard drive failure a month after a he. They said they fixed it. but after that whenever I turn on my computer it turns not back. I have to bring up in safe mode and then turn it off like this and try to restart the computer in this way. I was wondering if I remove Vista and download windows & will this fix my problem Dell always tells me that I have problems of software on this computer and I got if the Internet and its nothing they can do. If anyone can help. and do you know where I can find where to find if I need a 64 or 32-bit software for windows!

    Thank you

The upgrade to solve problems * is * is not the way to go.

Back up all important data for you, on an external support.  Includes installation support, key product, serial number, documents, spreadsheets, music, photos, etc. and so forth.

Restore the system to the factory via any method Dell defects provided.  Uninstall all of the Dell Bloatware (you need not additional software.)  Download and install all the latest versions of the drivers for your hardware.  Update Windows Vista completely.  Install your antivirus software.  After all this-, then install just the application you are using.

See if it's a more stable system.
