  How to get deleted? If you remove them normally, they must be
  in the trash. If they are not, read point 1 below (but also pay
  Special notice to the point 2):
   
  1. "deleting" a file does not actually delete it just marks the
  available space be used. There are third-party programs that can
  sometimes recover deleted files. The problem is that the space used by
  the file is likely to be replaced very quickly, and it makes
  the unrecoverable file.
   
  So your chances of successfully recovering these files are decent if
  you try to recover immediately after their deletion and quickly
  down from there. If you use the computer since
  (for example to read this answer and write that question), your
  chances may be very weak now.
   
  But if the file is large enough, it's still worth a try. Stop
  using the computer in question immediately, if you have not done
  already. Download an undelete program (and here's one:)

• I accidentally deleted the cache of Firefox and lost a little ins diary. How can I get back them?

  Yes, I made an update of Firefox when prompted and Yes... I have the old data of Firefox on the desktop folder, if we need save files.

  For some reason, a dialog box appeared when I tried to open Firefox. It never happened to me before. I had to choose Mode without failure or default.   While displaying the message, at the top, look for a tiny arrow pointing down, just to the right of the Red (in my photo)! and the blue down arrow. Click on the small arrow and uncheck "Reduce the Ribbon."

  Did a reinstall of XP home and then put upgraded to Office 2007 (and very sorry I did).  Somewhere in the process of my outlook express window is devoid of everything except the last incoming messages.  I've been in the menus and found no option to show or does not show files (i.e. sent, drafts, trash, etc.).   BINGO!  That's all, Bruce.  I have never been in the subdirectory of layout and would not have thought to look there.  Now, another question.  I installed the backup utility and used a number of times before reinstall, save on a portable hard drive.  However, when I go in the restore section, the file structure seems foreign to me and not completed.  Do you know where I can find the old dbx files stored?  Maybe I can find the old emails as well as the structure of file...?

  You will remember to do recent changes on the computer before this problem?

  I suggest you to change the size of the icons and check if the problem persists. Follow the steps mentioned below:

  a. right click on the desktop, click view , and turn off the Auto Arrange.

  b. after above step. Right click on the desktop, click view choose on the icon size you want and check if the problem persists.
