I must install NET Framework 2.0? & So so so I unstall NET Framework 1?

I must install NET Framework 2.0? & So so so I unstall NET Framework 1?

The different 'versions'.NET Framework are not cumulative.  You need to install or keep is based on the applications that you have installed using the .NET Framework.

It is useless to search and install .NET 2.0 - but if you get a message asking to install it, it is because an application wants to use.

For more information, read http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2009/04/20/9557946.aspx

If you ask as you run low disk space, you're going in the wrong direction.  Uninstallation of relatively small things like different .NET frameworks won't help - the best solution is to buy and install a larger hard drive.

That's what the Setup log gives me after that windows is unable to install net framework 3.5 sp1. I sure would appreciate it if someone could help me solve this problem. I just bought this pc about 2 months ago and it's the first question that I lived with her. Thank you

To successfully install the update, uninstall all versions of the .NET Framework on the computer, and then reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework on the computer. You may need to work through more than one of the following methods.

Method 1: Manually remove and reinstall .NET Framework

To remove and reinstall .NET Framework manually, follow these steps:

    1. remove the .NET Framework.

    a. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

    b. double-click Add or remove programs.

    c. Note each version of the .NET Framework is already installed on the computer. Then, uninstall all versions of the .NET Framework.

    d. When you are prompted, restart the computer.

    2. use the Windows Installer CleanUp utility to clean up the State of MSI database for all versions of the .NET Framework.

.      Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

    a. install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility as an administrator or a user account that is a member of the local Administrators group.

    b. Click Start, point to all programs and then click Windows Installer Cleanup.

    (c) in the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, remove all Windows Installer for the .NET Framework applications.

    3. restart the computer.

    4. download and reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework that were previously installed on the computer.
To download .NET Framework 3.5, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4e35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en (5. When you are prompted, restart the computer.

Note When you have reinstalled all the versions of the .NET Framework, you can use Windows Update to check for the updates of the .NET Framework.

Method 2: Use the .NET Framework automatic cleanup tool

This tool is not designed as a substitute for the standard uninstall procedure. You should try to perform an uninstall by following the steps in method 1, earlier in this article, before using this cleanup tool.

The .NET Framework cleanup tool removes the .NET Framework for you. For more information about how to obtain and use this tool, visit the following MSDN Web site:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx

Note that this cleanup tool deletes shared files and the registry keys that are used by several versions of the .NET Framework. To ensure that all versions of the .NET Framework work correctly, if you run the cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework, you must first remove all installed versions of the .NET Framework using this cleanup tool. Then, you must reinstall all previously installed versions, starting with the version number the lowest.

Suppose you have the .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 2.0 installed on your computer, and you plan to use this cleanup tool. In this scenario, you use the cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework 1.1 first and then use the cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework 2.0. After you remove the two versions, you reinstall .NET Framework 1.1 and then install the .NET Framework 2.0, in that order.

  • Why Net Framework 3.5 requires me to install net framework 3.5 (which includes the 3.0 and 2.0) and the system that I use at the moment is Windows 8? At present, using the Offline Installer

offline version of net framework have downloaded, but it requires more net framework 3.5 (which were 2.0 and 3.0) during the installation

Versions of the .net framework are different and require the standalone installation of each version separately. Installation of higher version installs automatically lower versions. For example, if you plan to install .net Framework 3.5, it will install .net Framework 3.5 only and does not install .net Framework 3.0 or 2.0.

  • Can't install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

I have the same problem on a x 64 Vista Ultimate workstation. Windows Update did not install .NET 3.5 SP1 three times. I can't install it manually either, any more than I can uninstall also (when I try to install it manually, I offers me the possibility to uninstall). Whatever I do setup.exe crashes.

The error code is 80070643. Support for this is Office 2003, which is not installed on this system.

I tried the solution above (suggested by Sohail Patel), but that didn't work either.

I would be grateful for all the other suggestions!

    Thank you

    Hi KeithXP,

Thanks for posting on the forum of community of answers.microsoft.com.

Just to let you know, I've split this thread out of the post, it was placed at the origin.  The reason why I moved that this is because when a question has been answered the MVP and other moderators don't review this information as much as those who do not have a response in place.  In other words a question gets very easily over looked when it is placed on a thread that has already been chosen as replied, so the future of the display please do not forget this for a faster response.

Once again, thanks for posting on our forum.

Questioning your situation, I would like to direct you to another view in our forum which has dealt with a very similar question.

In the article I posted above, he says mscoree.dll could fail to update during the installation of .NET framework 4, and the Setup program may not be aware of it. Go to your windows system32 or syswow64 folder and check the properties of mscoree.dll - if it's version 2.0 instead of 4.0 then the .NET framework has not been installed correctly. See this article for more information.

I checked mscoree.dll in my system32 folder and in the properties-> details, it indicates the version of the file / version of the product is 2.0.50727.4927 and last modified on 06/10/2009 16:40. Several messages later, one of the "nbeerbower" users seem to have found a solution:

Hey everybody! I had exactly the same problem! In fact, none of my programs using .NET 4 would work! But I searched the internet to fix this bug.

The problem is the result of .NET 4 installer never update .NET 2 mscoree.dll. So, here's the new dll and some instructions on how to solve this problem.

    http://www.Megaupload.com/?d=MBCL8TKC
(if for some reason any you do not approve the download see here http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vssetup/thread/a09baa85-635d-420c-a88a-de05f75c8140 to get otherwise)

Hi, I'm nbeerbower. I have trouble with my .NET 4.0 and it generated an error 2908 Installing XNA which is necessary for terrariums.
The problem is, because for some reason any .NET 4 does not update .NET 2 mscoree.dll.
Here is a "kit" to help you fix it.

    1. open take Ownership.reg and add registry keys. This allows you to easily replace mscoree.dll
    2. go in Windows/system32 (if you have a x 64 OS also do the SAME procedure in the Windows/SysWOW64 folder)
    3. find mscoree.dll and right click and take Ownership(you can alsocheck properties and see version, if it's 2.00 then this fix will work!)
    4. replace the included mscoree.dll
    5. repeat in SysWOW64 so you have a 64 bit OS

    Have fun!

    -nbeerbower

P.S., Make sure that you restart your computer after!

This solves the problem for users, but I have a problem. Of course the Megaupload link no longer works and the other link.

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vssetup/thread/a09baa85-635d-420c-a88a-de05f75c8140,

    also has links; This, specifically:

    2. Rename mscoree.dll.  It is a real pain.  Go here for the instructions (not for the fainthearted): http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/setupprerelease/thread/150d05c4-4df4-47ec-b7a6-a66f3a55cd08

It can also be connected to the issues I had with installing the .NET Framework v4.0:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-windows_programs/NET-Framework-initialization-error/21d069d4-44b7-403a-9e1f-de6d75ffdc36

Any help or the other problem is appreciated. It seems that other users have solved the problem, so there is probably a solution hidden in one of the threads that I missed.

Hey there fellow. From the outset, I would apologize for bumping this thread if the OP found a satisfactory solution to their particular issue - as well as an apology to resurrect a debate closed if it's already been resolved.

I came across this problem, try to run a particular game that required the .net framework version 4; a game that I had literally played earlier the same day. I use 32 bit Windows 7, so that the details of my solution may or may not be applicable to your situation. What I did to fix my problem was simply to repair my installations of .net Framework extended and .net Framework 4 Client Profile. After this, I restarted my computer, uninstalled my XNA Framework and reinstalled. After that, the game starts and runs without a problem.

Not sure if my problem was an exception or if it will help someone else situation, but I thought I'd post my experience just in case it would be of any help. Good luck out there.
