I need a serial port to connect to a balance scale - what new model should I buy?

I need to use its output on the ground. Thank you

Hi Sandy –

Wow! Sounds like a killer system! Here I had a. Ask any questions that you have. The Extender should work just fine. Ranging from USB to serial is mostly a question of adapting the wiring an Extender made for you. I fyou look around forums here you will see a test "computer laptop Forum" announced here when (not so) you have any other questions. Or, of course, in the article if software Windows 7 throws you a curve.

Just be SURE to test everything before going to anywhere where it is that you will... There is always the chance that you got the wrong Extender or the laptop itself needs a few adjustments. Much easier to take care of your living room around a fire somewhere!

A lot, a lot of great people around Forums Dell so don't be shy to get the info you need.

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite M60 and I want to transfer files from my Iomega Zip drive.
My laptop is not has a paraller port, so I bought a converter to operate, but there was no result.

Is anyone of you know how to solve the problem and finally reach my driver ZIP of my Satellite in order to transfer files?
    Do I need another converter?

If so, when is? Or do I have to buy a PCI card with paraller port?

    Any response will be appraciated

    thanx

    Hello

I've never used a converter USB / parallel but a USB-to-serial port converter and I had very bad experience of such pieces of witch.
AFAIK this adapters don't work properly.

Therefore, your suggestion is not bad to use the PCMCIA card with a parallel port.

Check first of all in your user manual what cards are compatible, then you can try to use this card.

I think it would be the best solution to connect your Iomega Zip drive to the M60 laptop.

  • Change the VM group vCenter watch NIC port is connected to the old and the new portgroup

    OK, I have built/upgraded to vSphere 5.

Everything is fine, and now we migrate the virtual machine to the new VDS switches.

I'm migrating each VM frm the old VSS to their port group concerned on the VDS.

EVERYTHING is going very well unless I have a few VM, is that when I change VSS port 'The Virtual Machine Network' group the new service VDS 'Network of the Virtual Machine' vCenter shows the VM as being connected to vSwitches/Exchange.

If you look at the network/host the virtual computer configuration is shown as attached to the VSS and VDS.

If you use the CLI PowerShell the VM shows that connected to only the VDS, great she is successful, but how can I remove the old switch if he thinks that it is connected to a virtual computer?

The VM keep in network connectivity.

I also tried to change the portgroup interface CLI PS and it returns the same result in vSphere.

    Any thoughts?

Was it virtual machines running snapshot in assets when they have been migrated from VSS for VDS?

If so, both can be listed in the properties of the VM... In case you need to return the nod on those virtual machines, they will be then be reconnected to the old vs...

  • Problem: read bytes to serial port

Hello, I need to communicate with an external device with serial port. I have to write a command to my device string, and then it should play with 64 bytes of data. I built a function of READING-WRITING and I use it in a loop (I have to read a lot of 64-byte block)

Sometimes, I have the following problem:

    (1) I have send the command string, I wait with "Bytes to the serial port" whereas I have more then 60 bytes, then I read.

    (2) sometimes happen that the read function cannot read all 64 bytes, so the net for cycle, I have in the receiver buffer mor than 64 and the program to stop working. (does not work well)

I need to be sure that after writing the command I have 64 bytes, so I red all the 64 bytes so the next loop for, I have the buffer of the empty receiver.

I enclose my writing reading function. Please refer to the block diagram (there are a few notes).

    Thank you

In no place in your program see the VISA configure the Serial Port. It's always a good idea to include this that even if you use the default settings. I suspect this is one of the default settings which is wrong with you. By default, playback is set to end when a character is considered. This means that if you have a 10 hex (ASCII LF) in your stream, playback stops until the specified number of bytes is read. Put in a VISA set up the Serial Port and connect a constant False to the stop character allow entry.

  • PCMCIA card as a serial port RS232 on Satellite Pro 4200

I think to use a PCMCIA card as a serial RS232 port. The program that I need to use runs under DOS and needs two serial ports. My question is that I need to run the program and the serial port to be recognized by the system. I have a satellite pro 4200 laptop PC series.

    Thank you

Why on Earth if you want that?
Your laptop computer with a serial port doesn't have it?

Well for the serial ports are standard supported on Windows. In a back box that should be no problem.

But pure back could be a problem.
I guess you must also BACK drivers for your PCMCIA card...

  • xw6600 Workstation - Serial Port problems

I want to add a standard RS232 9 pins (serial) port on my HP xw6600 workstation.

Due to the current expansion I have only x 8 PCIe and PCIe x 16 available on the motherboard slots.

I tried two dedicated PCIe Searial maps (PX-235 BrainBoxes and SatrTech BY - 1 S 552) and caused both the PC go into a continuous re-start cycle, i.e. the PC through the BIOS and rebooting itself before loading the operating system.  I tried to disable the interface Serial Port built into the BIOS, but it made no difference and cars (s) should be removed.

I noticed that the motherboard has an onbard Serial Port adapter, but I don't know what hardware is required to present this port at the rear of the workstation (cable and plate back I guess), or even if it can be used for this purpose.

If someone added a serial port to the device, I'd be interested to know how they did it.

    Thank you.

That's what you're looking for. It is a connector standard seial that connects to the head set to edge out motherboard to an empty slot on the back of your pc. There are many on the market. You should be able to find a room for @ $6-8, 00 USD to any electronic parts store. If you activate the serial port in the BIOS, coupled with the installation of a configuration like this, you should have what you are looking for.

  • Trying to understand ESXi serial port

I'll have mixed, configuration of a serial port physical to get through to the VM.

We run ESXi 4.1 on machines Prolient HP DL 180 G6. They each have a single physical serial port.

I have a console connected, reliable cisco on the port of phyiscal for the test. Simple config 9600-8-N-1. I use to connect to the com ports of in SecureCRT 6.1 Windows VMs. Sometimes I connect successfully to the cisco console. More often, I just a terminal does not respond. I can find no pattern of work to understand why it works sometimes.

When I create a serial port in the virtual machine settings, how do I know what com receives the connection in the virtual machine? The first created is simply called "Serial1", and the following conditions are numbered incrementally. Is it true that "Serial1" is > Com1? and Serial2 == > Com2? There is a check box available in the "peripheral" VMWare Tools tab; but that's all, it's: a checkbox.

All virtual machines appear to all have a port com1, com2, at the same time, no matter what the hypervisor has on the virtual computer. Probably Windows should have no serial ports except if one is configured, see the 'new' material when the serial number is created in ESXi and always have that one?

When I create serial ports, it seems I can connect as much as I want to the device/dev/tank/serial/uart0 physics. It's not supposed to such that there should be some argument for the port?

Is there a test/debugging I can do at the hypervisor level? When the config fails it is frustrating to have nothing more informative than a Terminal window empty.

    Thanks for your time.

  • delay in the introduction of serial port to main loop

I have a main program which consists of a period of time cards each loop iteration that is NI DAQ data acquisition.

I want to have a serial port call that is executed only when a new value is entered.

I can use a shift register and compare the present value the value spent, and then run the serial port when the value is changed.

But when I do this, the program takes about 6-7 seconds until all the data is read on the ground after clicking the run button.

I found that, even if the serial port does nothing, that the delay is still there.

For example, I initialize the port series outside the while loop...

I'm dragging the sons mistake and resouce for the serial port through the while loop, then make the visa close outside the while loop.

NOR should not yet be it making any type of calculations on the serial port, whereas only the presence of wire delays the appearance of the program by a total of 6 seconds.

As soon as the wire is removed, the program is in normal operation.

    What is going on?

  • Tecra A8: external keyboard connected to the serial port: the necessary specific configurations?

    Hello
I want to share a monitor and an external keyboard with Tecra A8 and a desktop computer. To do this, I bought a switch 2-port Linksys where I plugged the external monitor and a keyboard. With the monitor without problem because there is a specific port for this. However my Tecra has only 3 USB ports and a serial port 6-pin where I connected (with a 6-pin Mini DIN adapter) on the keyboard. When I turn on the screen it's ok, but the keyboard (I also tried a mouse) does not work. Do I need a specific configuration on the serial port to accept the external keyboard? If so, what commands do I need on the XP operating system?
    Thank you
    Luis

RGB (monitor) port used to connect the external monitor.
If you want to connect the external keyboard, you have to use the USB ports.
Additional legacy USB emulation must be enabled for the keyboard.
These settings you can change in the Toshiba HWSetup under control panel.

If you connect multiple devices to the switch USB (hub) Please be sure that the USB hub using external power.
A low power USB could be a reason for the external USB device failure.

  • Need 16 to 115 200 serial ports, can not get more 8 then

    I try to get 16 to 115 200 serial ports send/receive data. I have a NI PCIe-8431/16 (RS-485/422).

I managed to get 8 ports will at the same time but not anymore. I tried 9 ports at a time and I get timeouts on port 9.

PC: Dual core 2.4 GHz, 4 GB of Ram. I'm not more taxing on the CPU, I mean its 115 200 what treatment he would need.

I'm already talking with OR to the care, but so far they don't have a definitive answer of fix. I thought that maybe windows XP can handle 8 ports?

I also tried to use 8 of 16 channels and 1 another card 4 ports, I've had. Always the same results. I can do 8 simultaneous connections, sending data. and it seems that I can get the 9th to send to 2400 baud, but when I switch to port to 115 200 speed it fails / timesout?

More information about my project: I am trying to update firmware on 16 devices at once. To 115 200, it takes 6 minutes to push all the code of the device.

Process is: 2400 baud get version and check if a new version is necessary. 2400 baud say im switching machine for 115 200 2400 baud response. 115 200 baud send start download receive response to 115 200 baud rate. Send the bytes start and spell then line of the file at a time. Send end. done bytes.

Anyone know of possible limitations under XP or with the device OR? Any help or idea would be apreciated.

worst case I limit to 8 at a time. which is useless then. Might as well buy a controller at 8 ports and make a smaller device...

Well, I fixed my problem with the help of using NI SPY on serial ports. Thanks for this idea of troubleshooting, first time I had to use or spy.

First problem was my 100msec device timeout of 2400 baud to 115200 baud of switching. I added a loop for, 5 time, delays from 20msec (total 100msec) to send 'start download' and also to receive a response, after the transmission change. This allowed the unit to wait for firmware.

Then I noticed that I had a ton of failure during the download. Process is send receive some line of code 0 x 01 that the code was excluded, then send the following line of code. If she gets 0 x 01 has not received or 0x02, and then send it again (forever if you want, well I think that several seconds until the device stops data receiver)

My problem here is that I sent the data line, then read 1 byte. Timeout is set to 500msec. My code would get a timeout, so I'll send the data once again, since I have not received of 0x01. For some reason, it does not. After that I get the timeout I can't send/recieve on this port. I have then close and restart.

Fix was a loop (20 times?) for 500 msec and check the receive buffer. If the receive buffer is empty after 500msec I try again. If the receive buffer has data then I read and check to 0x01. If I don't get 0x01 I try again. Otherwise, send the following line of code. It works very well.

Finally, I can picture 16 devices in less than 7 minutes. This should normally be one at a time for 7 minutes each using a matrix of series 48.

    Next challenge 48 serial ports!

    Thanks for the help.

  • On the PXI-8106 serial port connection problem

Currently, I am trying to connect to the serial port on the PXI-8106 via RS232 module. However, when I try to run the Test VI opened for COM1 MAX (PXI Remote) running on a PC, I received an error like below:

    Returns the status code: 0xBFFF00A8

    Name of the State: VI_ERROR_NPERMISSION

Access to the resource or the remote machine is denied. This is due to the lack of sufficient privileges for the current user or the machine.

Right now I'm just a just loopback test to ensure that the interface for device is working before you start my labview code. I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, if it has to do with the PXI or PC. Could you please suggest a few solutions to this topic?

    Thank you.

I managed to understand. It did not work on the right platform.

I have a problem connecting to the serial port with Agilent 8163 b. The driver that I use is driver_vxipnp_816x_4_1_4.exe. The problem always message display "Visa resource not found. Thanks for the reply.

I face a problem that you use with GPIB-USB-HS due to the physical dimension, as shown. The width between the remote locking connector (FIR) and (w1) GPIB connector to the appliance is too small for the GPIB-USB-HS (w2) connect to this topic. If I unplug the connector RIL, tunable Laser will not be activated. So I have a few questions as follows.

    1. the LabView can always activate the tunable Laser if I unplug the connector at RISK in my case via GPIB?

    2. the LabView is compatible with GPIB connector (model x 10833) Agilent?

    3. is there a way to solve the problem posed by the RIL connector unplugged?

    The drop box
