  Then I can work without any problems with my database and everything works pretty well. Today, I decided to install Oracle SQL Developer IDE as it makes it easier to modify the SQL code. My problem is that after reading the tutorial Oracle online, that I am still able to connect to my database. Firstly according to the method that I wrote, I have set up the Oracle instance. But then when I run Oracle SQL Developer I don't know what to choose for the user name and password? because since SQL * Plus shell as you can see I always write: "sqlplus 'virtue sysdba' and it does not prompt me for any password, I can access the database directly."   When you connect "/ as sysdba", you actually connect as the user named SYS from the privileges of your operating system. SYS is the owner of the database and a privileged user. You really want to use this username for the day to day operations, but only for what can do only SYS. If you need a different user name.   I would say you can remove the drive letter M: using disk management and assign a different drive for the drive letter and check if it helps you to solve the problem and if the drive works very well.

  To change the drive letter in disk management follow the steps below:

  a. open computer by clicking the Start> Control Panel > system and security> Administrative Tools > computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  (b) in the left pane, click disk management.

  c. click the drive that you want to change and then click change drive letter and paths.

  d. do one of the following:

  • For letter an if it has not already received, click Add, click the letter you want to use and then click OK.
  • To change a drive letter, click change, click assign the following drive letter, click the letter you want to use, and then click OK.
  • To remove a drive letter, click Remove, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to remove.

  Because you don't properly stop the disc before removing it, you burned her FAT (File Allocation Table that each player has). Your files are still there, but they can only be read by the 'normal' software... think of a hard drive as a subdivision... formatting a disk (any drive) is like the ranking of all sectors which will be the roads and determine where the accommodation structures (folders) can be placed. When a fat gets grilled, all the rankings and roads disappeared suddenly... but the housing is still there. Recovery software puts the ranking and roads back.

  Is there a software that I used to be called "Rescue" that worked fine on the old disk to FAT32. Costs $60 but it was cheaper than $1000 than for a customer who had sprayed a server hard drive (and replaced their backup before calling me, long story, lesson learned client and I learned the value of disaster planning... but I digress), I was at another time.

  Well, the first thing NOT to do is clearly format the card.  Yes, all your suggestions (try another computer, try an external card reader and so on) are good, and no one has one clear advantage over the other. I would also add that you might want to try to put the card in the camera and see if the camera recognizes it and the files it contains.

  I just downloaded Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeling (2.0.0.57.0) [released July 1, 2009] by selecting the option ' Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Windows (this zip file contains the JRE).
  
  After that I installed the same and tried to start clicking on datamodeler.exe, I get the following error message
  
  "Failed to create an instance of the JVM on the path:... \jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll.
  
  On the same machine, I can successfully run the SQL Oracle program without error. My machine is having Windows XP Professional SP3.
  
  Any ideas? If there is a problem with Java, that of the Oracle SQL Developer should also not run. But as I said it runs with any error, but the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler gives the above error.

  you wrote you have 960 MB of RAM - how did you do a test with 1.5 MB of RAM and 2 MB of RAM?
  No doubt this is a problem of memory - memory change in the datamodeler.conf file option:
  -There 'AddVMOption-Xmx768M"by default; to take
  -"AddVMOption-Xmx512M" or never, making it suitable for your configuration - you can check the available free memory first.

  I'm trying to understand the differences between Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler and the possibility to use the SQL Developer Data Modeler.
  
  I have looked at two home pages produced on OTN, http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/datamodeler/index.html & http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/index.html and would appreciate your comments on my findings so far
  
  (1) the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler is a paid product stand-a-lone while using the Data Modeler of SQL Developer feature is free
  
  (2) the Data Modeler in SQL Developer functionality is basically a "viewer" I create my existing table of DR. by dragging in the Modeler in the object browser, but that's all. I can't save the diagram for later use or use to change the structure of the or the tables
  
  (3) if I need to have 'Oracle Designer' as ERD capability so I need to use Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (after purchase!)

  I used to connect to the test server very well 2 weeks ago (the test server is on a different network and I connect using VPN).
  
  I am able to connect to the database of the Production by the developer Oracle SQL (without VPN) but when I try to connect to the test, I get the error.
