  The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
  If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

  The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

  It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
  But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

• Windows 7 Upgrade on Satellite A300

  I bought a Toshiba A 300 in may so I am not eligible for a free upgrade. I have these questions that I couldn't answer after trips to Toshiba and Microsoft Web sites:

  I suppose that if I buy Windows 7 and install (clean install) I would lose the ability to use some of the functionality of Toshiba and the functionality of recovery partition which is based on Vista for my machine.

  I'd be happy to pay for an installation CD from Toshiba that would create a new installation of Windows 7 on my computer with the original Toshiba software but also create partitions for recovery.
  Only, I have not found any mention of anywhere. It's all about the "free upgrade" who me is granted under a month. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  Your laptop comes with preinstalled Vista. Recovery Vista image is recorded on the second partition in the file called HDDRecovery and there is not a sort of special hidden restore partition.
  You can install Vista on your laptop so often you want and after the new installation of Vista, you'll have to factory settings.
  You can install Vista from disk using F8 and repair my computer option, or you can install Vista with DVD facilities. "This DVD must be created by you using preinstalled" Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. Thank you for creating this disk; maybe twice to be sure you won't lose it. After you have created this DVD, you can do with your computer laptop all you want. You can delete everything and kill all partitions. Created using the DVD you have just like before.

  So now you can install the new OS. I agree with you and best way to install Win7 is clean OS installation using the Microsoft DVD facilities. Win7 support start all drivers Toshiba, Toshiba specific tools and utilities will be offer for download. All Toshiba stuff you can install only one and you don't need recovery Toshiba Win7 support.

  I just installed Windows 7 on my laptop that is about a year now, but the mouse pad and keyboard do not work. No lights on the caps lock keys or anything either, the only way to get to work is to press the power button so that the laptop goes to sleep and then press it again to turn it back on, then wakes up the keyboard but the mouse pad still does not work.

  I can plug in a USB mouse and it works, but I would prefer if the keyboard and the touchpad just would first work place! However if I restart the computer using the touchpad keyboard then suddenly works.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  Need help with my Satellite A300. I lost the recovery disc optical I burned when the laptop was new. Now when I try to burn a new disc of recovery can't get the Recovery Disc Creator - not on the desktop or in the Start meny. I still have the folder with all the left recovery files - a folder named HDDRecovery with 4.5 GB size. The problem is to know how to burn the disc.

  If you have Vista 32 bit you can only change to Windows 7 32 bit. For the 64-bit version, you need to do a new installation, upgrade is possible on Vista 64-bit.
