I think my Mac has a Trojan horse.  How to remove?

Sometimes when I click on a link on Safari opens a new tab the same and the former tab becomes a sort of announcement (Mac clean, zipcloud, etc.).  Can I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player on a bad site.  My search engine site which is usually Google changes also to something else.

I am running OSX 10.11.12

How can I solve this problem?

So you know in the future, never download anything from anywhere other than the App Store OR Web site.  Who will help protect you from downloading something that has been bundled with malware/adware.  You can download Adobe Flash Player here.

For addressing what you do deal with now, I suggest you download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac.  It was developed by a trust post it here, and it's a safe option for you can use to get rid of what is infect your system.  Install it and let it run, following all the instructions it gives you.  Restart your computer, and you should be set to rights.  In the future, consider my previous opinion - download on the Web site or on the App Store.

  • That my Mac has a Trojan horse?

Hi everyone, I keep getting tabs to open on Safari stating that my Mac is infected.  How can I find out if it is genuine or a scam?

It is definitely a scam because, among other things, Safari has no way to know if your computer is infected. Just restart Safari with the SHIFT key down and you'll be fine.

  • Update the BIOS has a Trojan horse

I have been a problem with my computer and finally was the wick of the ball and update to the latest BIOS version when I was arrested by the McAfee anti-virus.  I have a HP Pavilion model number a6257c.  At present, it has BIOS rev 5.21.  The most recent BIOS rev on the HP website is 5.23 (for this model of computer).  After you download the sp37378.exe file, I double clicked it.  In these conditions, frustrated by the other problem I had (which I'll detail in the portage on the other), I forgot to disable the McAfee real-time analysis.  Just before I was on the click the OK button to continue with the upgrade of the BIOS, a window of McAfee popped-up informing me that it has detected a Trojan horse on my system.  Knowing that the only thing I did was upgrading the BIOS, I abandoned the upgrade of BIOS to investigate the message from McAfee.  Of course, check the McAfee log, he showed that in the flash.exe (created when I double click on the sp37378.exe file) contained a "Trojan" called "New Maleware.jj" following the links displayed in the journal of McAfee, I found this web page: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_153095.htm.  It is listed as a threat of "Low".

So now finally my question, is it planned in the upgrade of the HP BIOS?

I downloaded the BIOS file and scanned with AVG - no viruses. I extracted the temp files and scanned the files checked - no viruses.

  • trojan.fakeMS - how to remove?

    Hello

Hoping that someone knows about it and can help.

I picked up a Trojan horse detected by Malwarebytes (Trojan.fakeMS), but this malware program can't remove. Whenever I run the program it identifies Trojan horse and when I select removal, said Malwarebytes successfully deleted and restart to finish the uninstallation. However, after each reboot the Trojan horse is still there. I tried manually remove but can not because of that I tried several times to reset the permissions. Any ideas what this is and how to remove it? The path is c:\Windows\Temp\mrt6D81.tmp\stdrt.exe

MsiExec.exe is the Windows Installer, but it could have been infected by malicious software.

Doing a thorough and redundant check like no program can catch or remove all malware.

You can also install the latest version of the installer, once you are sure that the machine is really clean.

First, we will determine if you actually adware or malware on your computer.  It could be something as simple as a spammer to get your e-mail address.  Please post the results of your report to EtreCheck .  It is a tool of diagnosis developed by a contributor trusted and respected here, and this will allow us to see what is installed on your hard disk in the path of the applications, drivers, plugins, extensions, etc..  No sensitive information is included in the report, such as names, e-mail addresses or serial numbers.

Hello terbow181, try the following steps after reinstalling firefox:

    1. Reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    2. then go to firefox > addons > extensions and where there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    3. Finally, run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to ensure that adware is not present in other parts of your system as well.

I tried to post a coupon on xianet and my computer has been taken over by a Trojan horse. My report says: Win32/fakeSysDef. He directs me to a data recovery site that charges $75 to solve the problem. No idea how to do to remove the Trojan horse?

    1. You scan of bases of safety of Microsoft or any other security software installed on the computer?

Enable the option Show hidden files and see if you can correctly view the contents of the files.

I suggest you analyze your computer Microsoft Safety Scanner, it will help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
