Hello

There are a few things you can try:

1. try running it as an administrator: right-click on the icon and choose 'run as administrator '.

2. try to set the compatibility mode for this: right click, properties. In one of these tabs, you will find the option to run it in compatibility mode, check it out and try again with different (Vista, XP) parameters....

I don't know he will solve you the problem, but... give it a try on those.

  • Call of Duty World at War: Error 1628: failed to complete Installation

I get a "Error 1628: failed to complete Installation" when installing under Windows 7.
I open the DVD and right click on Setup.exe to run as administrator.

I found some info on the internet to try to go in administrative tools - local security policy - Software Restriction policies - updated in application and verification of all users except thing administrators, but nothing helped.

I remember when installing on a previous Vista machine, I had the same problem, but I don't remember what I did, but there is obviously some kind of security problem.

I have install from (only) on the machine and there of course administrator rights. The account has no password. I tried to create an other administrator account that I gave a password and tried to install it from her, but that didn't help either.

I also tried the following, after a suggestion from Activision:

1 create a folder "test" on your desktop.
    2. go to the "My Computer" screen
    3. right click on the DVD drive located in the game disc, and select "explore".
    4. copy all the files and folders that you see here and paste in your 'test' folder on your desktop.

The copy process must begin now. If the game has copied correctly for you, then try to install the game from the "setup.exe" file in your copied folder.

    This did not help either.

    Help, please!

  • Installation issue with Call of Duty - World At War game software

Game was a purchase / download from GameSpot.  Download seems normal.  Extract / Unzip seems normal.  After the permissions Windows, install works briefly, then displays the message "one or more files missing:CodWorldAtWar.Data.004.  The file appears in the directory.  Options are limited to 'X' or 'OK '.  Both lead to the abandonment of the installation.
PC info is: OS = Windows Vista, Home Premium edition.  2 = Quad Core processor.  > 510 GB disk space

Someone knows how to solve this problem of installation?

GameSpot has a download manager? If so download it again using the Manager and clean your temporary files directory before installation/extraction as well.

I don't know what to do. One of my adobe applications gives the same error:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You can not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

The above-mentioned tech support person was a test account, he did and has spent a lot of time doing stuff with all permissions to the adobe files. Finally he got it so at least to launch illustrator, then immediately crash. He just left without a job too shortly after.

Caps folder contains the database as Cache.db, media, db, pdb.db file that contains information about the installation of applications on the system and other essential data, in some cases if the files are corrupt, it is essential to remove the record of caps.

Once you remove the record of caps, CC app will list Apps with button install because there is no information concerning the installation of the CC apps because the Media.db file will be deleted with it.

In this case, it is preferable that you uninstall applications that is not listed as up to Date and being listed with button install, even if it is already installed.

  • I got a phone call from a guy who said he was with Microsoft and that someone had linked in my computer. Is it a scam?

I got a phone call from one of the related foreign accent that he was with Microsoft Security and that my computer has been used or something to that effect.

I could hardly understand him.  Is this another scam floating around?   What should I do to report this?

    Thank you

Short answer: Yes. It is a scam. Not much interest to report, as MS are well aware of this problem, but there is little they can do about it since then (I guess) most of the calls are created outside the United States
