I've been hacked?

I just opened my hard drive to access an application and on the left, under devices, it showed my Macbook and then on the other computer with the name of "Scott." I have no idea who he is or how he got there. I clicked on get info and it showed the picture of a Windows PC with the name Scott.  Immediately, I started going through all the my security and made sure that file sharing was turned off. When I returned, the PC named Scott is now not display. Does that mean someone hacked my computer. Do I need to worry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have no problem since you said that you have free sharing.

Scott is this computer is connected to the same network as this computer has sharing enabled.

There is no problem

  • My email has been hacked and used to send Spam. I have to perform a virus check, or simply change the password?

My email has been hacked and used to send Spam. I have to perform a virus check, or simply change the password?

Do not install or run an anti virus app.

How do you know that your email has been "hacked"? It is a common practice for spammers to forge an envoy from the e-mail address. It may be that your email address has been misused. There's nothing to do if this is the case for you. The spammer will soon pass and usurp another email address.

It's a good idea to immediately change your password by email if someone would actually managed to access your e-mail account.

  • Apple ID has been hacked and a new feature added to my account

My Apple ID has been hacked by a person in China two days ago. Someone had downloaded a new game using my credit with the App store, enabled an IPAD and changed my credit card and also called in support information to find out why it could not download the game. I don't know how they managed to do all I can think is that I received an email from Guitracenter.com on a coupon because of a purchase I made, I received. I made a purchase a few days earlier and the e-mail looked very legitimate. However, as soon as I highlighted in my hotmail account, new valve opens in Orange and informs me that sounds like a malware and I shouldn't click on it. I have never but overtime I scroll down on the headers of emails and I reach the header the same thing happen. Except that all my devices are used only by me, I have nothing jailbroken and I'm good enough to keep my very secure passwords. My three questions are:

    1. does anyone if this is how they managed to hack my account simply by sending an email to my hotmail account without me even to open it?

    2. How will I know that they did not steal more information or other passwords? Could they possibly knew to take all of my passwords stored in Google Chrome?

    3. How can I be sure that by changing my password they can no longer access my account again?

    Thanks for your help people

No, you would need to open it and click a link

They have access to your iCloud, not your device account

They will have to guess your password, so make it strong. Better yet implement step 2 verification or authorization of factor 2.

  • Best way to check my Mac has not been hacked?

Have an end 2012 27 "iMac, OS X 10.9.5, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHZ DDR3 & have no idea what that means I'm technically disadvantaged. I get e-mails, mainly from some places that I buy, like Sears, Best Buy, etc., that contain strange characters & symbols in the welcome message that I do not open. I talked to the Geek Squad at best buy and was informed that a person may have gotten in my computer. No no proposed solution. Last month, my credit card has been hacked. I'm trying to find out if there is a connection. What should I do to make sure that my computer has not been violated & is always so sure that Apple can do in these difficult times.

    Thank you, Roger

As usual, the Geek Squad is incorrect. If you get suspicious emails then contact your provider of Internet Service (ISP) and ask for help. If you tend to use the same password for many of your accounts, including your email address and it is fairly easy to understand, then consider changing to a password is more enigmatic, something like * $Merp78@#. A good thing to do is to create separate passwords for each account, and then use a tool such as 1Password to manage all your passwords.

Whatever you do, NEVER install any antivirus, cleaning or any other third party on your Mac maintenance utility. Not only are they 100% worthless they can create havoc for OS X users. If you currently have one of these types of utilities installed please uninstall immediately in accordance with the instructions of developers.

  • Warning message that we had been hacked.

We have 10.7.5 we received a message that the system had been hacked and we should call it an 877 number to talk to the Apple support.  I turned the computer off for the night. Today, when restarting the message was gone.  I was able to run Sophos Anti-virus that does no threats.  Does this sound familiar to others?  Is it a scam?  What should I do when I get a warning message?

It is a SCAM, never all pay attention to these messages. In addition, uninstall Sophos following the instructions of developers. OS X has no need of the AV, cleaning or ANY, repeat ANY utility of third maintenance party. OS X is extremely secure and performs better if left totally alone. Sophos at best worthless and at worst will cause problems with your system.

  • My macbook has been hacked?

    Hello!

I've had predictions that my macbook could have been hacked. Recently, I had problems with the internet connection and I wanted to open network preferences, but instead of him, from the window display preferences and my resolution had been changed. Today as I also saw that during the passage of the screen with widgets to the normal screen, that I have seen that on a dock battle.net began also in writing this post once typing cursor went across top, which was a little weird.

I scanned my macbook by Open 360 Total Security and Malawarebytes, both found nothing. Today I also update OS x latest version.

Should I be worried? What are your suggestions?

    Kind regards

Mac do not need anti-virus programs because there is no viruses that can damage the OS X, then I would say open uninstall Total Security 360, because it's not protect you from anything, there is nothing to protect you, as far as this program is concerned.  With regard to the question of whether or not you have been hacked, have you recently downloaded everything that allowed someone to access your computer remotely, either click on a pop - up of fraud who hijacked your browser or something you found in a torrent or on an aggregate of download site?
