I want to frequently visited sites appears when I open Firefox, instead it shows a blank page.

When Firefox starts first of all, I have my home page the value: newtab. When loading, it loads a blank page. However, when I click on the new tab, a page with all of my frequently visited sites appears.

I want the site visited freq tiles is displayed on my homepage. Is this possible?

Hi, please go to Options (gear) - in the bar of 3 menu unless you have moved. Then in the general tab, make sure that 'When Firefox starts' is set to "Show my homepage." Also make sure that the 'Home Page' is defined on on: newtab and then restart Firefox.

Hope that helps.

  • Why do I get three windows when I open Firefox instead of the unique homepage, I had put in place?

I used to get a single tab, my Google homepage when I launched Firefox. Then one day I downloaded Google Chrome because I had trouble running an application. After that, when I launch Firefox, I get three tabs, a Gmail, a Home Page of Google and a browser that reads chrome://browser/content/newtab/newTab.xul - also, I get spammed like crazy and I was not before. I have my active spam blocker. I also downloaded a few flip something because I fell for the pop-up ad that said it would speed up my download speed. I have since uninstalled Google Chrome and I thought the flip thing, but I still get three launch windows and too many spam.

Strange, since Google shouldn't do that. Maybe it was an installer bundled masquerading as official?

To start your cleaning efforts, please check your home page settings. Do you get the 3 tabs when you press command + n to start a new window? If so, the additional URLS can be added to your home page in the Preferences dialog box. These articles describe where to find that. Notes that it can be difficult to see all the details of this area due to the limited space available, so often it is easier to delete everything and paste the desired URL.

Then please check your extensions, as they can override your settings. I suggest disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • Tools menu > Modules

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off. (Or so obviously bad, delete).

Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

  • All of a sudden when I open Firefox it starts playing a video on youtube

Previously, when I opened Firefox I had the normal home page. Now I have the normal home page but I can hear a youtube video starts playing in the background, and when I click on the tab I see that a movie began to play automatically. The movies are related to a topic, earlier I searched on Youtube, but it is not always the same, so, probably, I clicked on something I should not have done. I followed the suggestions of the internet on the home page reset and they did not work. Basically, I can now hear the sound from any video / movie to youtube I chose to play because of the noise from the other, unwanted, one in the background.

Whether you need to install this extension, the decision is yours.

Personally, everything about "Ask" is suspicious of the IMO. I've seen too many requests for support on the removal of garbage-related "Ask" and questions about the restoration of the user or by default set the preferences.

See this Google search for Mindspark, the manufacturer of that application. Mention of the PUP (potentially unwanted programs) and malware, is sufficient for a reasonable person to think twice before installing stuff like that.
