I want to improve the Satellite L30-149

Hello
I was planning on upgrading my trusty laptop L30-149.
RAM memory seem not to be a problem that I've played with this, going to get 2 * 1 GB because that's what he supports!

But - Celeron M410 CPU, I am extremely confused which can handle the motherboard.
I read another post that said we could use:
Core solo (T1xxx), Core Duo (T2xxx) or even with Core 2 Duo?

s ' would that be a valid processor?
(Intel Core Duo T2400 1, 83GHz FSB667)

and how the bios will respond to these tremendous changes? It can handle it?

Ty for taking your time and reading this - I hope someone can answer my questions or suggestions are equipped!

Hello

You should have a look here in this article from Toshiba:

[Is it possible to upgrade the CPU/GPU of a Toshiba laptop | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ7A01ZW0007R01.htm]

There are several reasons why a CPU upgrade is not recommended, and not desirable.
These updates can be done only at your own risk, because no one will be able to tell if the laptop would be stable after this upgrade.
The BIOS is also designed not and not configured to different processors.
Therefore, it can happen that your computer laptop malfunction.

Welcome them

    Hello

I want to change my hard drive of 80 GB to 320 GB. I'm computer Toshiba Satellite L30-149.
I hope someone try it before and it works.

If someone can Swedish please answer me too... Good day. MVH Emilia

    Hello

It depends on the HARD disk controller.
If the HARD disk controller support the 48-bit LBA then you would be able to use more than 128 GB of HARD drive

Since ATA-6 also known as Ultra DMA mode 5 or Ultra-ATA100 the 48-bit LBA is supported.
So now to know what the HARD drive controller is supported by your L30.

I think you might find this detail using a program like Everest home edition for example.

Install it and check it out!

Before he died, he showed the blue screen several times with diskerrors in the event log, and I was able to run/CHKDSK without errors a few times.

Please advice how to reset the Fast Ethernet controller, not sure that a HDD defective only can cause the fault of I m.

    Thnx in advance

    Hello

I think that this is related to failure of HARD drive or lack of OS on the HARD drive.
Is this message PXE ONLY appears if the portable computer is trying to boot from LAN.

Means either the LAN was chosen in the BIOS as first boot device or operating system is not found on the HARD drive and so the BIOS automatically goes to the local network.

So I recommend this audit in the worst case you will need to check if the new HARD drive would solve this

  • Satellite L30-149, only works with external monitor and VGA mode

Satellite L30-149, Windows XP Home Edition

Yesterday I did face the following problem:

I swithched on my laptop but I have nothing on the screen. I tried to reboot several times, but it did not help. If I look very carefully, I see the logo of Intel (black text on white on the screen) but nothing else. The logo shows very low.

I plugged on the external monitor. With that he gives a little more. The Intel logo with the instruction how to reach configuration etc. Then Windows logo but when it should ask the user, the external monitor going to sleep mode and nothing happens after that.

And an external monitor, I managed to connect to Windows in safe mode and also in VGA mode. In VGA mode, I tried to change the resolution, after that I got black screen again and I had to start.

Now I wonder if I could do something (update of drivers, etc.) or should I go to the store where I bought the laptop and ask them to fix it. This look like a problem covered by the warranty?

    --
Upgrade to this message (what happened after that I wrote the above text).

I turned on the laptop again. I thing the lightning from the room is now better because I noticed that the laptop seems to work (almost) correctly. Windows starts normally, I can faintly see the desktop. This seems to be a problem in the background ligthning. FnF7 does not change the situation.

    This sentence is very interesting.
Sounds like a question of FL-ups!

It is a small part behind the screen and control the backlight of the screens.
Usually, this part is not very expensive and the replacement is not complicated to a technician for laptop.

If your warranty is valid, then everything should be done for free.
Try to contact the ASP in your country and ask for later handling.

    Greetings and good luck

  • Problems with Satellite L30-149

I recently reinstalled Windows Xp with SP3 on my Toshiba Satellite L30-149. When looking for audio drivers, I found a via
Toshiba support. I was clear Notebook--> Equium L Series--> PSL35E (the only option)--> Windows XP.
I installed this driver without error and now I sound down in the right corner of the desktop.

If it must be installed correctly, but I get no sound from speakers or headphones. I looked at
further discussion and it seems that many people have similar problems. I tried to install the driver for Vista, but it
did not work (worked for somebody else, good...).

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards

    Fredrik

    > So it must be installed correctly, but I get no sound from speakers or headphones
First of all, you must check whether the sound card is correct and if there is no yellow exclamation point in Device Manager

If the sound card will display correctly without any exclamation point means that the driver has been installed ok.

In the next step, you should check the volume control.
Go to control panel of-> sound-> playback and check volume control settings unique should be set at a higher level.
In addition, check if mute is not activated!

  • Problems with Benq DC C 700 digital camera on the Satellite L30 105

    Hello

I have problems with my digital camera when I connect it to my laptop. Whenever I connect the camera to the laptop freezes and gives me the blue screen of death, in other words, the screen you get when a fatal error occurs, and then my laptop must be restarted. If this happens whenever I connect the two.

I tried the bios update and install the latest orders, but nothing seemed to work. I contacted the support center in Benq and they told me to contact Toshiba as they are sure that the problem is not with the camera. So please someone, if you have any ideas or suggestions or solutions, I'll be happy to hear.

    Thank you!

    Hello

First of all if you need Toshiba support, you will need to contact Toshiba authorized service partner in your country. This forum here is only a forum for users and you won't find anyone from Toshiba here.

    On the other hand;
It seems that the Satellite L30-105 has been bundled with Vista. Using this operating system on the L30?
I read on many problems with the 3rd devices, software, and Windows Vista.

I put t know what said you, but eventually the software webcam is not 100% compatible with Vista.
You should know that the BSOD appears if there is a serious hardware problem or software. I don t think that this problem was caused by a hardware issue and so there is only one possibility; software compatibility issues.

In case you I would update the Vista of the State and I will ask manufacturing webcam if it s 100% compatible with Vista.

    Good luck

  • Upgrading RAM on the Satellite L30 - 11 d

My brother has a Satellite L30 - 11 d and he bought an extra 2 GB upgrade from 512 MB RAM.
HE sent me an email - excerpt below, but does not have regular access to the Internet and so not the time of this post.

My laptop has 512 MB of ram and Toshiba etc. told me that it could be upgraded to 2 GB. I got 2 x 1 GB cards installed.
The problem is that if I remove the 512 MB card, the laptop does not see the Go cards at all, so I put the card 512 back in and it was OK, so I put a 1 GB card in and it worked OK, thinking it might be a loser card I have triedthe other cards plus the works of 512 and this.

Also, if I put one of the GB cards on their own that work.
According to Toshiba, the computer can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM - so what I am doing wrong.

Any ideas would be appreciated. »

    Hello

I googled and found this page of specification of Satellite L30 - 11 d:
    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 128130

According to this page, the satellite L30 - 11 d can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM (2 x 1 GB)
You must use the RAM (533 MHz) DDR2 200pin modules.

I think that the laptop doesn't recognize the 2 GB of RAM due to compatibility issues you should try the modules of RAM from another manufacturer. Maybe Kingston would be ok.

  • Problems upgrade memory on the Satellite L30-134

I just bought 2 x 1 GB memory for my L30-134 PC4200 and installed that they work fine in the BIOS, see and read as they should do, but when windows starts up it will crash with the two modules are installed, don't ever get to the screen with the loading bar crossing and then I get the blue screen.

I forgot to take note of the error code, I'm afraid... (Silly I know). If I remove one of the modules and module installation original 512 with just 1 the 1 GB ones that it works perfectly. BIOS has been updated to the latest version 3.10, and again, I get the same problem...
because everything looks good go in the BIOS I think that its more likely to be a software problem (windows) any maybe some damage data in the registry or maybe a virus... anyone have any ideas?

In addition, the laptop is actually my step son and he really wants to have the CPU improved Celeron 410 to one that is a little faster. When we look at first in this we was told that several processors are compatible (although not really worth the hassle of installation) they were cel m 450 2 GHz, dual core t2060 and t2080 pent, as well as the core duo t2250, so he bought the t2250 and it wouldn't surprise, or should I say it power on with no display and the stopcock and just epeated cycle. So didn't take is not a genius to establish it was not compat...

I know the t2080 are used in of the L30 and 1.73 533 FSB with 1 MB L2 cache-65nm and do walk. The t2250 is identical apart from the L2 cache is 2 MB and deepening varies from c to MB depends on when you bought it... because oe it already has the CPU it will sell and use the money to purchase one that will work. If anyone has any info that could help to ensure that it doesn't end up going round in circles I would really appreciate it...

Oh and just to make laugh you all he was member of staff line Toshiba tech that had told him that the CPU would not work and that the L30 managed to take 2 x 1 GB memory and not once mentioned that there may be problems with two updates...
Issues such as neither soddin work... lmao

  • How to recover the Satellite L30-140 - I lost the recovery disk

    Hello

I have a Satellite L30-140 and I want to recover the windows on that.
I lost the dvd recovery-. -.
Is there a method to recover? as acers Alt + f10 recover menu?

    Thanks for your help :)

    Hello

You need the recovery disc, either the clean Microsoft Windows disk in order to install the operating system gain.
L30 being a little older, I doubt that you can order the recovery disk
That's why you need a Microsoft Windows CD!
You will need to buy this CD if you are not the owner of the Microsoft Windows CD.

  • Problems of memory on the Satellite L30-101

I have a toshiba satellite l30-101 laptop and wanted to upgrade the RAM, so I bought 2 x 1 GB sticks to put in it.
Now, I could not find all those at 533 mhz so I bought 2 667 mhz after a talk to a technical guy who said if I had 2 the same speed it will work very well.

Only this isn't at all that I can put a stick and it works very well with the 533 mhz.
The one I have in if I try to put the two sticks in it comes up with errors of memory and I get the bsod that restarts my computer and did not get my games or other programs.
Is anyway to make sure I can have both new sticks in that I really need RAM and do not want to buy different ones.
I mean if I can get another one we should probably work well work?

Please help im crazy trying to solve this shit

    Hello

I think that the speed of the memory has nothing to do with the BSOD!
In my opinion the BSOD appears due to the failure of memory!

In addition the L30-101 supports only the FSB 533 Mhz. In this case you will not be able to run the 667 Mhz modules of memory at full speed.
The modules will run at 533 Mhz only!

So in my opinion, you must replace the defective module with one that works very well!

    Best regards

  • Port USB of the Satellite L30 stop Windows when using

I recently bought a Satellite L30 (psl33E) for my wife and everything seemed fine. That was until she needed additional usb ports for his stuff and used the port on the left side of the machine (as opposed to the one still in use, in the back). As soon as she tried to use this port in particular, the close dow and has done since then.

Could someone tell me please how to fix this, because it is only a few weeks old, and I don't want to take it back to the store where it was purchased.

In the hope of a miracle.

    TIA.

    JimmyMack.

    Hello

It really looks like a serious hardware problem. I guess that the USB port cannot deliver enough power when other ports are in use.

If I were you I bring the machine or contact the nearest available service partner in your country and allow them to correct this problem.
Here´s a link to find the closest of the ASP available in your country: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871

  • For the Archives: The upgrade of the Satellite L30-134

I'm one of those old cell phones off a friend who had retired as being obsolete.

However with a little time and money, it is possible to upgrade to a very usable machine.

Not a power by any stretch but perfectly adequate for browsing the internet and watching videos (about 720 p watchable) standard definition etc.

So as the search of these forums for more information for this project, I found a lot of conflicting advice, and some of my questions were not answered at all. I hope by documenting my experiences here I can help someone in the same position in the future.

    * Model *.

This machine is the Toshiba Satellite L30-134, part number: PSL33E-00E013G3. It's probably very similar, but not necessarily the same as the other models L30. No invert them.

    * Original configuration *.

Processor - Intel Celeron m 410 (Cache of 1 MB, 1.46 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, Socket M). It is a simple version of the Core Duo (Yonah core) processor core. It shares nothing in common and is not swapable with the previous generation Pentium M or processors Celeron Mr. He is also incompatible with the next generation of Core 2 Duo/Solo and Pentium and Celeron processors derived from these.

Memory - A single 512MB SODIMM PC2 - 4200 (DDR2-533 MHz). This differs from the previous generation of DDR and the next generation of DDR3. The controller memory only supports single channel mode. There is no loss that the FSB of the processor is not fast enough to take advantage of the dual channel anyway.

    * BIOS *.

My laptop came with very old version 1.3. Toshiba provides the latest version (3.10) for download. This is reported to be buggy and mess with the profiles of fan so I decided to leave it alone. I can confirm that my updates work without updating the BIOS.

    * Updates *.

Processor - I swapped the Celeron for a Core Duo T2350 (1.87 GHz). Everything I read that all the Yonah core Core Duo/solo, Pentium and Celeron with a FSB of 533 are compatible. The FSB 667 models are not.

The Core Duo T2450 at 2 GHz is the highest performing compatible processor but double the price on eBay. I paid just £12 (used) for the T2350 so there is really no reason to go down now, all of these parts are obsolete.

RAM - there are 2 slots on this machine. Toshiba State a maximum of 2 GB, 1 GB in each slot. Unfortunately, the memory controller is very picky and survey of the weird errors, unless you get just the right ones.

There is not enough information to understand it so for me it was a process of trial and error. Fortunately, I found an online retailer that guaranteed compatibility in 100% and returned by mail for free.

The second pair of Poles worked well.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Re: How to recover the Satellite L30-10s?

How can - I make my satellite L30-10 s to exit the restore box settings?

    Hello

I think that HDD recovery isn't possible since this is a very old notebook and I guess for this series, HARD drive recovery were not available.

So you have only one option to retrieve the computer laptop back to factory settings: you need the recovery disc.
If you n t have this disk, you will not be able to put the computer laptop back to factory settings. I think that its no longer possible to order the recovery disk because of the age of the laptop.

    So what to do?
You can use only a clean installation of Microsoft disk in order to install the system.
The essential drivers or tolls are available on the page of the Toshiba UE driver.

  • Disassembly of the specifications for the Satellite L30-113?

    Hello

    Thank you.

    Hello

Disassembly of the laptop is not easy and should be done only if you have a technical background.
The risks are too high you might damage something on the map. You know, the motherboard is the most expensive part of the laptop.

But don t worry buddy, I cleaned my laptop fans without removing anything.
I used the hose of vacuum cleaner against the vents and it worked

    Hello

Satellite L30 unknown to me, but as far as I know, on all models of Toshiba laptops you can change the brightness of the display by using the FN + F6 or F7 key combination.

Satellite L30-13 does not exist, please check the description and please give us an exact description (PSLxxx). On this path, it will be easier to identify the model of laptop.
