I want to use my Windows 8 pre-loaded license to upgrade my old computer

To comply with my companies policies I had to change the OS in my new laptop for Windows 7. Now, I would like to use the license of windows 8 that came preloaded in the computer to upgrade my second computer. The problem is I don't have the license key and no one can help me to get it back as it is on the motherboard. I paid for the license, and as far as I know I have right to use it on any machine I want for as long I have only on a single computer at the same time, isn't? Now what should I do to get this key?

Unfortunately, no. If it came preloaded on the phone, it's an OEM
the biggest drawback of an OEM version and version is that its
license is permanently tied to the first computer on which it is installed.
It can never be moved to another. So, you can't do what you want
do.

Everything goes perfectly smooth, at least until recently, when I try to go control panel perform add functionality of Windows 8.1.

    He asked me product key!

When I looked at the bottom of my laptop Split X 2, it doesn't have the Windows product key sticker. There is only 1 sticker hologen Windows 8! Therefore, I use a key finder application to detect the product key.

I enter the product key when I run add a feature to 8.1 win again, but the windows prompted me key is not valid.

    Why?

Insalled Win8.1 is the authentic version. I can perform regular updates of Windows without problem.

    Hello

The add feature is to upgrade your current Windows 8/8.1 Core Windows 8/8.1 Pro Edition or Windows Media Center Edition 8/8.1.

It requires you to purchase the particular product key with regard to the option to add features.

  • I got a new computer (an old dies) new a windows vista and I have to disable the old computer before I load the same copy of Vista on my new computer. If yes how can I do this?

I got a new computer (an old dies) new a windows vista and I have to disable the old computer before I load the same copy of Vista on my new computer.  If yes how can I do this?

If Vista is preinstalled on your OLD computer, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.

A single license is a single Installation.

If it is a retail Vista license, read the information on the clean install and then reactivate it:

    Hello

If I'm wrong, please let us know why, but my assumptions that are

    • Your old XP machine is usable
    • It still allows to log
    • There is no password required when you don't sign

    So you can try this...

    1. Click Start
    2. Click on Control Panel
    3. Click on user accounts
    4. Give your XP logon password
    5. Restart your XP machine
    6. Try Easy Transfer and him give the password that you set in step 4

  • Recover Windows 7 pre-installed license key

    Hello.

I recently bought a laptop (dell e6410) second hand. Operating system has not been installed, and there is no sticker on the laptop (or underneath the battery) on the windows.  I would like to know if the laptop had a pre-installed operating system, and if so, could I get the license that it came with it? I don't have any what recovery DVDs, and there is also no recovery partition.

As I read on the Internet, it could be that the license key is related somehow to the BIOS to keep the license attached to only the computer for which it was intended.

    Thank you.

Hmm... This part of the sentence "buyer beware" comes to mind.  If it does not have the sticker of license on this subject, it does not have a legitimate operating system.  Even if you get a valid license running Belarc or Magic Jelly Bean key, there is no way to know whence this key.

Key is not in the BIOS under Windows 7 (only 8), but the Dell installation media check the BIOS to make sure it's a Dell, it can install and activate, but without a sticker key license, which is not legitimate either.

  • Buy Windows 7 OEM and hardware to upgrade one old PC

I have a computer running windows XP Pro and want to upgrade the hardware and software.

I intend to replace the memory and the hard drive, now in the old days, they told me by Microsoft Licensing, it was ok for that but it was in the days of XP.

Microsoft changing licenses so want to make sure that it is always ok.

I don't want to run Windows 8, as is the new VISTA.

I'm not worried about my files that I intend to install fresh and they can be transferred from the old drive.

Nor am I worried about being locked to the PC once activated.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

So I recommend that you first install the new hardware, then proceed with the installation of Windows 7 on new material.

  • can I use the windows key for the laptop broken on a new computer?

    Pre-installed Windows 7

My laptop came with pre installed Windows 7, but now its dead as motherboard had burntout. So I am planing to buy a new system. I have the product key of Windows from the thumbnail below my old laptop, I use the product key or I have to buy a new copy of windows

The copy of Windows 7 that came with this laptop is LINKED to this laptop.  It goes with her, even in death.

If you get the laptop repaired, then you can use the method/support of the manufacturer of the laptop gave you to restore the operating system on that now resurrected system.  If not - you bought the rights for the whole package - not the individual components.
