  Yes. I did the same thing. Check all the necessary services are started and in automatic mode. Still it does not solve the problem. Then I read about this stupid problem that vista has. It doesnot show the 'turn on the internet connection sharing tab"If the link that must be shared already has the" allow other connections to connect through this network "option checked in the properties > sharing tab."  NET for once I did all the procedure to set up an ad hoc network, after unchecking this option, then solved the problem and was able to connect my ipad to the network and access.
