iCloud fill my Macbook

I have a Macbook air with 256 GB drive.

My photos were quickly fill so I transferred on a 1 TB external drive.

I then bought 200 GB of storage on iCloud Drive and saved the files to my external hard drive.

As I did I received a message... my boot drive is almost full! ***???

It seems that iCloud is to copy the external files lead to my laptop... why? Found in the library / mobile documents. When I deleted the files from there... they disappeared icloud! Seriously!

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong... I don't see the point of paying for storage on iCloud if it is decided (without asking!) copy everything that I put in there back to my Mac. I don't have room on my Mac... that's why I have to pay for more storage

Thank you.

It is supposed to do.

The files that are located in iCloud drive (in particular) must also be on the system drive. Libraries can be on an external drive, but not the files you place in iCloud drive.

Bottom line, iCloud Drive is a mirror to a local folder on your drive system hard.

I recently changed my apple ID and password because I lost access to the old email account that I was using with apple. • How do I access iCloud on my MacBook?

I have a MacBook and an iPad, but I'm not really a keen user of iCloud. I'm selling my MacBook and for a certain time will use a PC my wife will buy until my next trip to the United States where Mac is more reasonable prices, then they are in the country I'm living in.

I'm doing things out of my internal hard drive to an external drive, so I can move these files to a PC. I always just saved my files Pages and Numbers without knowing where exactly they have resided. they were there when I needed it, so that was good enough for me. Now, I've discovered that these files are stored in the cloud. Very well. How to get their cloud on my external drive? I use Spotlight to search for iCloud, but all that happens is something in preferences - not the cloud itself (as I saw it in an online article) then I seem not as simple as drag-and - drop.

Given that I will keep my iPad, I guess that I have access to my files Pages and Numbers there as well. I'm not interested in access on the iPad, but I can access iCloud of iPad to send to a PC? I think also there iCloud for PC. Same question, am I able to access these files that reside in the cloud of a PC. Not worry about pictures, only the Pages and files numbers.

You can access all your iCloud files using the web interface at www.icloud.com. Open this Web page, and then sign in with your AppleID and open one of the apps that created the files - Keynote, Pages, etc..  You will see your documents, sorting by app. It will work on a Mac or a PC.

On your Mac you can also launch the corresponding applications - eg. Pages.  The file picker dialog box will show you the Pages documents in iCloud and you can open or save.

You can also activate iCloud drive must be able to copy all the documents using the Finder.

  • How to restore a photo library using iCloud on a MacBook?

I now use iCloud for back up my entire library (more than 200 GB).  How to restore a photo library (including all data of pictures like faces, events, etc.) on my MacBook Pro when my MacBook Pro needs to be replaced?

I used historically Time Machine to backup and restore my library when my photo library migration to another laptop.  However, I now do not have a backup Time Machine full of my library because the library is too large to store locally.  So now, I'm opting for storing it on iCloud to Apple servers using their 'optimize' Photos option.  Now, if I replace my laptop, I would be sure that as transparent as Time Machine restore solution is to obtain and import the Photo library (for example, the index of all my photos, events / files, location tags, face tags, etc.) on my new laptop directly from iCloud.

Enjoy any clarity in iCloud library restore capabilities!

I now use iCloud for back up my entire library (more than 200 GB).  How to restore a photo library (including all data of pictures like faces, events, etc.) on my MacBook Pro when my MacBook Pro needs to be replaced?

You can create an empty photo library on your new Mac, and then enable iCloud photo library for this new library of Photos.  The library will download icloud, and most of the elements will be restored.

But iCloud is not a backup. It's a centralized storage to keep all libraries updated on all your devices.

There are some things that will not be restored to iCloud, for example the albums faces or your projects.

This document describes how a library will be uploaded to iCloud to another Mac:

Use iCloud photo library on several Mac - Apple Support computers and Photos

After have connected you, these items appear in the Photos on your Mac app:

    • All photos and original videos
    • All folders and albums
    • Smart albums
    • Keywords
    • Keywords from searches of the tile faces
    • Key photo selections

These items are available only on the Mac where you created the:

    • Books, cards and calendars
    • Slideshows
    • Keyword shortcuts
    • Unused keywords
    • Last album imported (this album contains photos you have imported recently on a specific Mac)
    • Facing tiles and faces of the data

I is not entirely based on iCloud as a backup of your photos, but sometimes create a copy of your photo library on an external drive. In this way, you can restore your library, even if you are having problems with the internet connection, and it will be faster.

Given that the upgrade to El Capitan and running the latest updates of my MacBook Air has worked very (almost too hot to the touch in some places) hot and the fan that has happened all the time. The battery is also in very quickly - I can sit and look at the percentage count.

If I disable my iCloud in Mail preferences the computer messaging service cools, the fan stops and the battery stabilizes. So it must be a problem with iCloud mail. Anyone who has ideas or fixes for this?

  • Cannot connect to the iCloud on my MacBook Pro

I can not connect to iCloud on my MacBk Pro. It of been like that for more than a week. Even if I can connect my iPhone and iPad, and also on my account, no problem. Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

    Safe mode - subject

    Safe mode - Yosemite

  • Try to disconnect from the iCloud on my Macbook Air (El Capitan 10.11.2) but in system preferences, it says I have to create a new password for my Admin account - and then the new password I get says "password does not match"?

I am trying to add my outlook email account to the Mail app, but because it's the same email for my iCloud, for some reason, they are linked, and I discovered that I need to disconnect from iCloud, and then add the outlook account.

But when I try to disconnect from the iCloud in system preferences > accounts on the internet, it says I have to create a separate password - but when I get one it says "passwords do not match"? I tried to do different and same, nothings working: S

The dialog box is like this:

    [Stop using iCloud?]

Create separate password for (name of the admin account)

-You will no longer be able to log in or unlock your screen with your icloud password, and you will need to remember two passwords separately.

    iCloud password: __________

    New password: __________

    Check: _

    Index of password: __________

    [Use the separate password?]

Not sure why that is, that the password does not when it's supposed to be the new s password?

Also, I would like to know what to put in the box check?

    Help much appreciated!

    Thank you

Oh wow. I just realized I was leaving the case confirm the void and the message "password does not match" mentioned. I just need to retype my password. Hilarious that I have not worked this one earlier.

  • I have a lot of storage iCloud with my Macbook air why I also have to buy adobe revel?

Why do I need Adobe Revel when I have a lot of storage iCloud with Apple?

    Hi Doris,.

If you use iCloud for everything, that is to say, contacts, calendar, photos, etc., then you probably need not really Revel. If you are looking for a service that allows you to store unlimited videos and pictures, edit them, synchronize them, create albums to group with your friends and your family, then Revel is an excellent choice. Revel works with Mac, Win 8.1, iPhone/iPad and Android.

But, as I said above, if you already use iCloud for storing your photos and you are happy with it, I would say that, in truth, you do not need to Revel, too.

    Best regards

  • Gray photos icloud on macbook

I'm helping a friend with his problem:

Problem with icloud on his macbook pro (with safari AND chrome):

When it connects to icloud.com and goes to the pictures they appeared all the grey boxes.

I can click on them to make them appear more big but they gray stay (with a circle of load on them).

When I connect the icloud with another macbook or pc everything works fine.

If the pictures are on her icloud, but they will not appear on his personal macbook for some reason any.

Anyone who can help me with this? I looked for a solution on the forum and google but found none with the same problem.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Lack the option 'Use iCloud password' on 1 MacBook

I have 3 MacBrook Pros and 1 Mac Mini, everything on El Capitan.  I use my account on all devices iCloud successfully (Photos, Contacts, iCloud drive, etc.).  I also use my iCloud password on all devices, except on one of the MacBook, which does give me the option to do so.  On this one specific MacBook (let's call it "without work MacBook"), I'm stuck with a local password.  In the preferences system-> users and groups, my Admin user (the only user defined on this system), the option to change password don't give me the choice to use my password to iCloud.  In addition, under my username, my iCloud ID is NOT displayed.  It appears under the username on all my other devices.

I am connected to iCloud on the MacBook without work, and anything else iCloud-related work.

I tried disconnecting and verse iCloud on the MacBook without work and it has no effect.

I tried to restart the MacBook non-working and has no effect.

On the MacBook without work, under system-> iCloud preferences, it shows the ID iCloud under my username, and I even change my password iCloud (I did and it worked - I had to update on all other devices).

On the MacBook without work, in the preferences system-> users and groups, if I unlock and right click on my username, then select Advanced Options, it shows the correct ID of Apple.

I found at least another one online of someone having this same problem, and their 'solution' was to reinstall the OS from scratch.  It's a bit drastic - like buying a new car all the 5,000 miles because you don't know how to change the oil.  I hope someone can recommend a surgical solution more.

    Thanks in advance!

Change an existing account to use the iCloud password is no longer possible from 10.11.4. Accounts that have already activated the feature continue to work, however, if they are changed to a regular password, then they also cannot switch back to use a password to iCloud.

The installation wizard can still set up an account to log in with a password to iCloud, the current solution to allowing him so to re-run the configuration wizard. See this for instructions on how to rerun the configuration wizard: http://www.theinstructional.com/guides/how-to-re-run-the-os-x-setup-assistant

Basically, open the Terminal and run:

    sudo rm/var/db /. AppleSetupDone

    Then restart.
