  Yes, this may be a stupid question, but this is my first blackberry and after a few weeks I don't get all the fuss. I keep reading all these great things about it, but I can't. In fact I currently hate mine. The accompanying cd was no help that's right on by with the instruction book. Nothing happens with my phone, as it is supposed too. I realize that maybe I don't know what I'm doing, but before you return to the store and lose my mind on a poor unexpecting, I'm trying to fix it myself. When I have a trackball in the upper left corner all I get is a black white square, even if I push the trackball, nothing happens. I used to be able to take of loud, silent, vibrate, etc. Now, I have no options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Whenever random strange behaviors creep, the best thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, this one suffers memory leaks and other... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

  I have the curve 8900 a couple of months now and email used to work perfectly since then.

  After a few months of my happy use of internet e-mail, all of a sudden I got my email more.

  so like any computer geek in that I looked inside can't find something wrong with it.

  I asked a few friends (geeks also) and even a friend who solves the problems of BB for a job.

  but nobody seems to be able to find what is wrong.

  The problem:

  When I send an email (gmail) with the bb, it goes perfect as it is supposed to.

  When I want to receive emails (gmail, always), it doesn't.

  and now the strange part.

  When I send an email from my bb to gmail mensioned I receive on my bb just like it is supposed to do.

  When I send an e-mail using hotmail on the bb to my gmail I get nothing.

  and when I send an email using gmail on the (internet) pc I receive on my bb.

  and when I send an e-mail using hotmail on the pc still a bb very quiet

  now, if anyone still had any idea of what passes I would apreciate if you let me know.

  It turns out that as soon as I turn on my firewall all my emails are blocked and it isn't severe weather that the specific address is checked or not.

  everything except inthere addresses are blocked.

  the real problem is my firewall.

  I guess that I don't need then, if it isn't his job to good what is it?

  go to options > security options > firewall > and uncheck everything here.

• Files of Outlook of Smartphones from blackBerry can not be seen on Storm 9530

  I have a 9530 and subfolders under my contacts in Outlook 2003.  Is it possible that these records will appear also on my Storm?  I have in the categories but prefer records.

  Contacts on the BB has not the same set up for categories / folders than outlook a. I the same set using the 2007 version. The BB OS is not Microsoft office. It is compatible in many ways, but the contacts set up is different.

  I have a new type of very small icon thing on my screen I've ever seen.  I had this phone for 2 years.  It's just where will the notification of missed calls or how many texts or emails that you have that you have not read.

  This is a 1 with a small black circle with an arrow inside.  It is a very small red circle on top.

  Can someone tell me what it is and how to get rid of?

  It looks like the Update icon AppWorld, telling you that the AppWorld himself or one of your applications that you got from the AppWorld has an update available. Go to AppWorld... If it's AppWorld itself, it should prompt to update quickly. If it's an app, continue in MyWorld and check each app... updated as you wish.

  I have a notification icon on my BB Storm I had never seen before and was hoping that someone could tell me what it's for.  It has a number 1 next to it, and it's a circle with an arrow pointing down and to the left. In the upper right corner of the circle is an asterisk rd.  It is not an SMS, MMS or Email...

  I never thought to check the "generic" messages folder, I went to the actual e-mail message boxes... But once I did it, he deleted it... Thank you.

  This yellow envelope is the new icon of Hotmail for BlackBerry.  You will have a red star indicator that appears when you have a new e-mail message.

  I have a new icon that I've not seen before on my phone.  It is a blue oval in the upper right, looks like a bluetooth connection.  When, in my car, I have also a few small horizontal triangles next to this oval.  No idea where it comes from and how get rid of?

  So, Yes, the blue oval is probably your Bluetooth turned on, and the triangle indicates it is connected to a bluetooth device. Click the display of connection management > Bluetooth and you should see listed exactly which device is connected.

  My 9320 does not recognize my BBID. I tried the password reset, what does not work. I'm now up to 9 attempts, and the next attempt will lock me up. Any ideas what I can do. I can't seem to find what to do on the blackberry site, all the tips keep telling me to change my password working isn' there. I get the error message "enter the username associated with this smart phone. How can I find out what my correct username with my phone?

  I had to go back to Blackberry Bold 9900 for awhile my Q10 screen is cracked and I sent it to be repaired.   Hello and welcome to the community!

  With a strong carrier network (for example, not only WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message from your BB... Please wait just before moving on to the next step):

  1) register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
  • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

  2) Remove and return Service books (pre-BB10 only devices)

  • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you do not have access CMIME, continue deleting
  • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

  3) restart

  • Pre-BB10 ONLY devices. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes.
  • Peripheral BB10. Hold the top button until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the unit to be completely stopped (for example, nothing appears on the screen, no lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red light. Wait through the entire boot process. IF this fails, you can try the method of battery-pull above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
  • See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

  Otherwise, you should contact your mobile provider for official support... but this time do not let you fob off the coast. You pay for your services, making them responsible for your formal support service, including if necessary climbing to BlackBerry-related.
