ID Table of contents includes all entries

When I create a table generated automatically the content of a book of 128 pages, entries will stop after several chapters. I checked the other chapters and all headers and chapter headings are decorated appropriately and should appear in the table of contents, and the content of the text frame simply ends before the last chapter. I had this problem ID CS 4. I had heard it was resolved with CS5, but it seems to have returned.

I created this file by importing a Microsoft Word file (.doc) that had been cleaned and formatted using the add-on Editorium for Word in a new document, InDesign CS 5. The file also has a table that blocks the entire document when I try to adjust anything in it, but the table occurs early in the book so I don't think that is the question.

Someone has an idea of what's going on here?

If you do a find/change GREP query for. + and set the size to find the style of title, and the scope to the entire document, browse using search next (without making any changes) these positions?

Have you tried: eliminate corruption of minor exporting

  • Question: adding prefixes to the table of contents chapter entries?

Hello I would like to know if anyone can help understand me how to format Table of contents entries to include a prefix.

I want to each chapter entry in my table of contents to include the prefixes of words Chapter 1, Chapter 2... etc.

For example. Just to say that my first chapter is called "aseptic".

Currently the aseptic 'A technical' chapter title is formatted with a paragraph style called "chapter title", and this paragraph style is included in the "Styles of Table of contents.

So for the moment my OCD simply shows the words "One Technique aseptic" followed by the page number.

I want that entry of table of contents to say: "Chapter 1 asepsis.

But I don't want the words "Chapter 1" to appear on the title page of actual chapter. "»

Also, I want to be able to add unique style to the prefixes (I guess with character styles). So that I can make the "Chapter 1"style a little differently to "Aseptic", while both appear on the same line.

Is it possible to do? I know that I can just click on the table of contents, and then make the changes directly, but it's not ideal because if I click on "update the Table of contents" then all changes are lost. I want the added prefixes dynamically so that they remain in place even if chapter headings are changed in the future.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Table of contents for several sheet file...?

    It is possible to:

    1. Create a Table of contents listing all sheets in a file?
    2. Have these hyperlink worksheet titles to the sheets themselves?

I build what will eventually be a fairly large file (read: 75 + leaves). Rather than scrolling all the leaves one by one by one manually to locate the correct table, it would be useful to have a table of contents or an Index that lists the in order... Ideally, allowing the connection of hypertext link to the leaves they reference. (I swear that this was part of a way-back-when number...)

Instead, is it possible to auto-trier worksheets in alphabetical order? He would not give me the project view as a table of contents or an Index of 35,000 feet, but at least it would be a little easier to find what it takes.

Looking forward to sharing the wisdom...

    HI stephanie,.

The numbers 2 (' 09) and 3 support not the hyperlinks to locations within the current document. Both take in charge of hyperlinks that open a Web page in your default browser or which will open and send a new e-mail message.

Command-F can be your friend here.

Place an array of single cell on each sheet (or use a cell on the existing table). Enter a short text string that identifies the table or sheet. Each string must be unique in the document.

To access the card containing one of the following strings:

Press Control + F to open the Find dialog.

Enough chain to identify the worksheet type.

Number will draw this roadmap forward as soon as it can determine which table contains the cell containing this string.

    Tested with four sheets containing:

    able, baker, charlie and delta

With this limit together (and any other tables in the document - quite an artificial situation!), type c or d was enough to bring me to sheet 3 or 4, sheets 1 and 2 required two letters (ab or ba) to identify the good sheet and bring it forward.

With a document containing several tables (and more leaves), create (and remembering) a separate channel for each becomes more complicated.

You can place a second copy of each in a table of Index or table of contents on a separate sheet. From the index table,

Copy the entry for the table/worksheet you want to go.

Open the dialog to find (command-V)

Paste the entry in the search box. (What it will find and highlight the entry that you have copied to the index table)

Click on the > button on the dialog to find the occurrence FOLLOWING this string (on your target table.

  • How we can print the page numbers for the shape of the TABLE OF CONTENTS when her excluded from the form page count?

    Hi Experts,

We have the TABLE OF CONTENTS, followed by 100 forms totally 215 pages.

We checked in the exclusion of the option of number of form page SUMMARY form at the level of the group.

Followed forms of TABLE OF CONTENTS forms all use FORMSETPAGENUM rule at the bottom of page.

the first form followed by TABLE OF CONTENTS form the number starts page 1 of 215 and the last form closes at 215 215.

Now, I want to print the Page number of SUMMARY form only.

How can do us?  Any thoughts?

    Kind regards

    RAMAN C

    Hello Raman,

I guess that you included "Exclude the number of pages" option in the form of table of content (TOC).

There is a limitation in the studio. The functions of page number (PAGE NUM OF FORM / FORMSET PAGE OF NUM) will be ineffective when we choose the option "Exclude the number of pages" in the form of table of contents. Therefore, you was not able to print many pages of form as a table of contents.

The only way to print the number of pages is to deselect the option "exclude the number of pages. Then you can print the number of pages in the table of contents in the form of table of contents normally. However, this number of pages in the table of contents will add to the Total number of pages form set. The number of pages all forms can be controlled by Postransdal using the script [FORMSET PAGE NUM = TotalPages() - 1]

  • Several Tables of contents

I'm working on a publication that includes a table of contents, a list of figures and list of tables.

I don't seem to be able to get the entries "List of figures" and "List of tables" to include in the table of contents. Can anyone help with this?

I want also the titles of chart and the table to be included as entries under "List of figures" and a "list of tables" in the interactive PDF, I generate.

    (I use ID 5.5)

Now that I understand what the PDF bookmarks, you have a problem with, I agree with Peter.

There is no concept of TOCs nested when creating PDF bookmarks. You will need manually create the subbookmarks for the tables of secondary raw materials in Acrobat, I'm afraid.

  • Update the table of contents [JS, CS3]

    Hi all

In the InDesign interface, you can select your table of contents and simply click on the TOC of layout update page to update.  Is this possible with a script or what I need to recreate table of contents by using the document.createTOC () method?  It's that I don't see in the object model.

I have a book with 33 chapters, and each has its own table of contents.  All tables have been set up, I just need to be updated so that they have the correct page number.

    Thank you

    Mike

You looked in the right place, but may have overlooked this:

CreateTOC history painting (using the: TOCStyle [, replacing: boolean = false] [, fromBook:Book] [, included: table of number] [, includeOverset:bool = false] [, destinationLayer: Layer])

    ...
replacement (bool) If true, replaces the existing table of contents. (Optional) (default: false)

Sounds like you just need to add is

    document.createTOC ([your table of contents style], true);

  • Several table of contents in the document

    Hello

I'm new in the FM8. I recently received a document FM8. The structure of the document is:

Each document file corresponds to a chapter. Each chapter has a table of contents for its secondary headings and paragraphs.

Table of contents (here is the chapter of 1 to 10, that chapters)

Is then Chapter 1 includes a table of contents with all subtitles and paragraphs (for example 1.1, 1.1.1 and so on)

    Chapter 2-10 similarly.

    This isn't everything.

Chapter 7, 8, 9 and 10 are placed in different folders, corresponding with the title of chapters. The rest of them (Chapter 1 to 6) are placed in the same folder.

For chapters 7, 8, 9 and 10, I managed to update the second table of contents (which contains subtitles and subsections - for example 1.1, 1.1.1 etc..)

There is in the main folder that contains the rest of the chapters of the files of table of contents for the main Table of contents and the contents of subeahds and paragraohs corresponding to each chapter. Here, I have problems with their updated because when I opened the book and update only the main table of contents will be updated. The problem appears when I create a PDF file. Because after the creation of PDF when I click on a chapter name in the table of contents it will bring me to the chapter I want to but when I click on the table of contents for subtitles/paragraphs that has nothing happened, except for chapters 7, 8, 9 and 10.

    So, to be more explicit.

When I click on Chapter 7 in format pdf, acrobat will send me to Chapter 7 where I find another OCD where if I click subead 7.3 that he send me to the page that includes the chapter 7.3. On the contrary if I click on Chapter 4 it will bring me to the page corresponding to Chapter 4, but if I click subtitle 4.3 that nothing will happen.

I will attach an example of this PDF.

The structure of the file looks like this:

    Chapter 7 the folder:

    -Book

    -The TOC file Chapter 7

-Chapter 7 (same goes for Chapter 8, 9 and 10)

    The project folder

-Book (it contains all files from Chapter 1 to 10)

-File table of contents (the main table of contents)

-Files table of contents of the chapters

    -files of the chapters

Thank you. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Table of contents of a paging

I am trying to create a table of contents, but all my page numbers are listed as I.

    Example:

    Chapter 1... I have

    Chapter 2... I have

    etc.

    Help, please.

Your table of contents is there; It is located just in white, like your target paragraph style. You can create a new style of paragraph of the content page and select in the menu at the top of the dialog box (labeled Style :) Or you can select and reshape the text manually.

  • Table of contents on the alternative networks

    Hi all

I don't know if I'm the only one having this problem or the workflow. We make proposals in a brochure, and they often require the table of contents. Normally, the proposals are very similar. Often the header changes, but the content is the same. It all depends on the Vice President and the customer receives the proposal. Thus, when the headers change, the table of contents must match. So, I could just crush the headers, updated the table of contents, but then a few days later, I have to return them to the previous headers, update the table of contents again.

So my solution is alternative layouts. Two very similar proposals, with different headers, which must also new TOC to match these headers.

My problem is that I can change the parent TOC, but not the child or the second alternative provision. Don't update or I would update the table of contents because it is grayed out.

Just frustrated. I could simply create a new file, do a save as, but then, I have several files which are technically identical, with one header is different.

I am currently using Adobe Creative Cloud on a Windows 7 platform.

I tested it, but there is not a lot of options to choose from. I chose Replace TOC in force, but which does what it says and replaces the table of contents with all the headers from these two layouts. I can't have two COT separated on two separate provisions and have both update with their corresponding page headers.

    Thank you

    Mike

When InDesign engineers added a new feature (like replacing the CS6 provisions), they usually have a customer need (or needs) in mind, and they try to implement in many ways that this new feature relates to the older features as they can.

Alternative layout functionality, frankly, was mainly intended for developers who create applications tablet. The tablets can also display horizontally and vertically and may have several different pixel dimensions and pixel ratios.

Although this feature can also be used for printing applications, it's that it was mainly intended for. I have demonstrated to classes how you can use this to create several posters size or prospectus for printing, and the feature works very well. However, I think you have run into a "side deal" that engineers predict.

I think the function table of contents was not part of their way of thinking, nor their tests, and the two functions don't seem to not work together. I suggest you request a feature here:

  • Table of contents collapsed by default

We have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on Windows XP operating system. We wonder if there is a way to create a PDF file where the TOC bookmarks are reduced by default - i.e. only displaying the highest level bookmarks until you develop a book. Currently, no matter what we do, the table of contents contains all of the bookmarks.

Collapse bookmarks and use file > save as...

  • change the colors of level table of contents

    RH8 HTML

    Hi all

Ive had a request come out while changing the level colors in the table of contents for a webhelp project.

AFAIK, you can define only a single color in the skin with HR settings, however I'm trying to track down the output file, where it is defined and perhaps add additional code to set the different colors of level.

Does anyone know which file or piece of code is the control?

    Thank you

    Nick

    Hello

You can use css to achieve this effect. You can modify the TocWriteClassStyle function in whthost.js or you can create a block of style/stylesheet.

The normal color of the text is controlled by 'A' (the links are). It is the top level of the table of contents. All deeper levels are div with the class ".one". So ".we" do the second black TOC level. ".we .we" made the second red level. I tried this on a table of contents level 4 and I could give a different color to each level.

    There are two notes:

-You can't repeat .we .we indefinitely. I thougt you could use four elements or so Max CSS is no longer valid and the styling breaks. Do not know why but...

-When you use A .we, this color not only all the links of second level and third level links, etc. These links also meets the condition: a link in an item with classname 'child '. If you need to go to several levels (more than four), this method may not work for you.

  • Table of contents presentation - ok to duplicate entries?

    Hello

How did you handle a table of contents where the duplicate entries seemed to be useful? This project of Webhelp includes many reports in several projects as shown below.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

    TABLE OF CONTENTS

Types of reports (book) (this list reports is required by our company()

    Bird (book) project reports

    • Report 1 (page)
    • Report 2 (page)

    Fish (book) project reports

    • Report 1 (page)
    • Report 2 (page)
    • Report (page)

    Reports of project tree (book)

    • Report 1 (page)
    • Report 2 (page)

()further down the table of contents()

    Projects of the bird (book)

    • Find birds (page)
    • Take Notes (page)
    • Project reports Bird (book) (you can see that it would be useful in these sections of the project to duplicate report lists)
      • Report 1 (page)
      • Report 2 (page)

    Projects of the fish (book)

    etc.

I used two techniques, as required:

    • Create snippets with all the content and use it on different subjects. This is useful in situations where topic title and name of the theme file must be different, but the content is the same. I use this for pages in different modules with different names but with the same functions.
    • Create a new table of contents and which merge in several places in the main table of contents. I use this to repeat several books with pages in several places. This allows me to use the menu once. I also use it to divide the appreciable chuncks main menu.

  • How can I include the header of the table of contents in the table of contents?

I prepare a table of contents in InDesign CS3 (Macintosh OSX 10.5.8)

I added all the paragraph styles to the list of paragraph styles, I have want to appear in my Table of contents.

However, I would also like the table of contents itself appear in the table of contents:

In the case of the table of contents is placed on page 3, he want it looks like this

    Table of contents:

    Title page... page 1

    Thanks... page 2

    Table of contents... .page 3

    Table of figure... page 6

    Chapter 1... page 10

    and so on...

I have included the paragraph style in the list of paragraph styles, I want to have in my table of contents. But this does not have an entry in my table of contents that is named "table of contents".

I would be grateful for any advice.

    Thanks in advance

To do this add a nonprinting frame to Page 3 and add the words Table of contents using one of your styles that is picked up.

  • RoboHelp 2015 (12.0.2.384): The search returns topics do not are included in the table of contents

ENVIRONMENT: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 8.00 GB of RAM, 64 - bit OS, Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Acrobat Reader DC 2015.017.20050

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

    • A single RoboHelp HTML project with three exits. One of the outputs is a 'validation' reference that has its own Table of contents.
    • Validation reference Table of contents contains a subset of the subjects in the main help system. For example, the help system main table of contents contains a folder named 'Administration '. This folder is not in the table of contents of reference for Validation.
    • The reference of Validation is displayed on a public web site. Therefore, we applied the tag "Non_public_info" contained in the topics shared that we do not want to appear on the public website.
    • WebHelp parameters are:
      • Validation reference TOC
      • No map file, no sequence to browse
      • Conditional compilation expression: NOT_Non_public_info_AND_NOT_StyleGuidelines_AND_NOT_TRP (we keep our Style rules in the project to facilitate access during development. TRP content must be rejected because it was not released.)
      • Exclude non referenced topics of output is selected.
      • Search options. Only 'Show Total number of search results' and 'View AND search Option in outputs' are selected.
    • After generating the WebHelp, we remove the files that we don't want (RoboHelp generates empty folders, even if the files are not in the table of contents.)

PROBLEM: A search in the help of Validation reference reveals the topics that we think should not be included because the subjects themselves are not in the table of contents of Validation reference. For example, the section "Data quality analysis" is in the main table of contents help, but not in the table of contents of reference for Validation. Therefore, we do not expect the topic appears in the search results pane at all. But he does. When the user clicks on the subject, the "Resource not found" message appears.

Nothing shows the topic Style_Guidelines because the StyleGuidelines label conditional construction applies to the entire folder and the "Style guidelines" book in the main table of contents. (Same thing for the TRP folder).

QUESTION: Why are topics which are not in the table of contents and whose records are not in the project at all appearing in the WebHelp during a search? We need to rewrite the expression of conditional compilation or establish conditions differently. We assume not have topics in the table of contents, not including the topics not referenced in the output, and remove empty folders would be the way to go. Any help is welcome!

    Thank you very much.

    Carol Levie

The table of contents does not control what ends up in the output for output online. All content tagged and tagged content which is not excluded by the expression of construction will be included. The parameter 'Exclude topics not referenced output' more exclude all subjects which are not in the table of contents AND are not related to any topic which is included in the output.

On the other hand, for the print output the table of contents control which is found in the output. I think that it will fire a lot of people.

If you generate the help and that you do not remove the unwanted files, do you still have the error? If this isn't the case, you know that the topic is referenced somewhere in the content of the reference of the Validation.

Here is the help of RH11. I can't imagine it would have changed, but you could do a search to verify a second time for RH2015.

    Exclude output not referenced topics

Select this option to exclude any topic that exists in the project, but is not the default theme in page layout or is not referenced table of selected contents, index or sequence to browse, or any referenced subject.

Note: RoboHelp shows the topics not referenced that are excluded from the output in the output view module.

I publish major textbooks with sensitive html setting. Is there a way to determine how the entries appear in the table of contents? If I publish a small section of the manual then 2nd level entries appear as eruptions under the chapter name, but if I publish the manual in its entirety then level 2 headings are not at all. I would like them to appear as the eruptions in the table of contents, but I need to publish the manual as a whole in order to keep the cross references. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I think that this would make clearer - and it would skip and tables of contents of books under.
