Table of contents collapsed by default

We have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on Windows XP operating system. We wonder if there is a way to create a PDF file where the TOC bookmarks are reduced by default - i.e. only displaying the highest level bookmarks until you develop a book. Currently, no matter what we do, the table of contents contains all of the bookmarks.

Collapse bookmarks and use file > save as...

  • Table of contents expanded by default

Hi all, using TCS2, FM books related HR, Win 7 64 bit.

When I generate Webhelp of HR, the table of contents are not expanded automatically. You must click on the main topic to see all topics of sup, etc.. Is there a setting to make the table of contents automatically developed? To be clear - I see the navigation panel on the left side, but just the main book of the doc seems - I would like to show users the subthemes how there are below, as soon as they access help.

I searched threads but cannot find that whatever this is quite related to this issue.

    Thank you

    Adriana

    Hello

Generally, you configure the default theme to be a topic within one of the books that you want to present in a State developed when aid is open.

The exact procedure depends on what is the output format.

So the question for you is to ask what is your output format!

  • I'm looking to add a button to reset the table of contents (collapse of all books)

Our users get lost in the open books - Yes, I know it's a completely different problem, but I was asked to add a button to "reset" the TOC books to reduce all the books.

We use IE 8 and HR 10

I looked everywhere for existing javascript that would do this, but I'm not. Is this something that someone else has already done? I'm not a person of script.

    Thank you!

    Laura

    Well, see if it works.

Rather than use the link option, click the option for JavaScript.

Type the following code in the OnClick field:

    parent. Location ='http://www.desiredsite.com/News_Feed.htm'

Dismiss all dialogs, regenerate and test.

  • Webhelp from Rh 9 is the first default open book in the table of contents

When generating 9 Robohelp webhelp, I find that the first book in the table of contents is by default open. It's an output generated from 9 hr property? If this isn't the case, please let me know the path for the parameters of this TOC.

Help opens the default topic. If you have the TOC synchronized which is what most people prefer, the book is about this subject in will be opened. Move the default topic above the first book and you should get what you want.

  • Update the table of contents [JS, CS3]

    Hi all

In the InDesign interface, you can select your table of contents and simply click on the TOC of layout update page to update.  Is this possible with a script or what I need to recreate table of contents by using the document.createTOC () method?  It's that I don't see in the object model.

I have a book with 33 chapters, and each has its own table of contents.  All tables have been set up, I just need to be updated so that they have the correct page number.

    Thank you

    Mike

You looked in the right place, but may have overlooked this:

CreateTOC history painting (using the: TOCStyle [, replacing: boolean = false] [, fromBook:Book] [, included: table of number] [, includeOverset:bool = false] [, destinationLayer: Layer])

    ...
replacement (bool) If true, replaces the existing table of contents. (Optional) (default: false)

Sounds like you just need to add is

    document.createTOC ([your table of contents style], true);

  • Hide icons to expand/collapse for Table of contents (ToC)?

    Hello

I have a project that requires the summary function that comes with the table of contents turning. However I do not want a visible knock on it.
I went to overlay, set it to collapse all and the alpha value to 0%, which pretty much done the work, but I find myself with the arrows to expand/collapse on my slides.
I read that you can replace these transparent png files and I want to do, but don't know where to find the icons to replace them.
Can anyone tell me what their file names or folder in which they are stored in please?

Simply use the navigation buttons to select your transparent png

  • Table of contents by default image compiled file

X 5, generation of HTML using HTML HR, help. The compiled version does not open to the table of contents. How to set the table of contents to appear as default frame in the compiled version? Right now, the compiled file opens on the Index tab.

    Hi all

Tina, if you're simply by double-clicking on the CHM file to open it, note that it will simply open any tab was visible when you closed last. Of course, you can configure the table of contents to be the default tab, but it will work only the first time that the user opens it. If your user name switches to the Index and has this visible tab and closes the CHM, it will open to the Index when they open it again.

If your CHM file is connected to an application, your application developer can open in a mode where the table of contents is this little matter how it was last closed.

  • Captivate display default V4 for the table of contents - effect of overlay/entity

Here's something I've learned painfully. A brand new user, I couldn't understand why my OCD didn't show. Then I noticed that there was a button table of contents in the playback control. Clicking on that table of contents appears. But I wanted my users to have a KNOCK ON by default. I searched the tutorials and help, finally called support. The person no-Help me had create a new project and, since a new display TOC by default, she insisted it was a problem specific to the project, gave me a url for how to avoid damage to the files and said I had to redo my project! I said it must be a bug feature or without papers, but she said she wouldn't report it because I was the only one with the problem. She could not address my point that I had certainly not created the button table of contents in the playback control.

After getting off the phone very frustrated, I discovered this is a feature of the TOC/entity overlay option. If you choose overlay, button table of contents appears in the playback control and click for table of contents display.

Wishing Adobe would only add this point in the help file.

    Welcome to our community

Sorry, you had the problem and I'm happy, you were finally able to solve.

I would like to point out a new feature to help with Captivate 4. Everyone can now add comments to help! I encourage you to visit the help topic you feel should change and add a comment here. In this way, assistance will be eventually updated to include this information. And until it has been updated, all will see your comment!

  • How can I customize the Table of contents develop (> >) button?

I have a client who wants to change the color of the table of contents, expand (> >) button which is a light gray by default. I tried to change all the options in the editor of skin under the Table of contents, playback control and borders, and nothing worked. Am I missing something obvious, or is there no way to customize this button?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

You will not be able to change the color of the expand button, but you can add your own custom images.

    (1) launch the Adobe Captivate 5.5 project

    2) click on the project-> Table of contents

    3) click on the set button

    (4) under TOC settings, you have the icon sections expand and collapse icon

    5) click on 'file' button and find your photo

  • Table of contents for several sheet file...?

    It is possible to:

    1. Create a Table of contents listing all sheets in a file?
    2. Have these hyperlink worksheet titles to the sheets themselves?

I build what will eventually be a fairly large file (read: 75 + leaves). Rather than scrolling all the leaves one by one by one manually to locate the correct table, it would be useful to have a table of contents or an Index that lists the in order... Ideally, allowing the connection of hypertext link to the leaves they reference. (I swear that this was part of a way-back-when number...)

Instead, is it possible to auto-trier worksheets in alphabetical order? He would not give me the project view as a table of contents or an Index of 35,000 feet, but at least it would be a little easier to find what it takes.

Looking forward to sharing the wisdom...

    HI stephanie,.

The numbers 2 (' 09) and 3 support not the hyperlinks to locations within the current document. Both take in charge of hyperlinks that open a Web page in your default browser or which will open and send a new e-mail message.

Command-F can be your friend here.

Place an array of single cell on each sheet (or use a cell on the existing table). Enter a short text string that identifies the table or sheet. Each string must be unique in the document.

To access the card containing one of the following strings:

Press Control + F to open the Find dialog.

Enough chain to identify the worksheet type.

Number will draw this roadmap forward as soon as it can determine which table contains the cell containing this string.

    Tested with four sheets containing:

    able, baker, charlie and delta

With this limit together (and any other tables in the document - quite an artificial situation!), type c or d was enough to bring me to sheet 3 or 4, sheets 1 and 2 required two letters (ab or ba) to identify the good sheet and bring it forward.

With a document containing several tables (and more leaves), create (and remembering) a separate channel for each becomes more complicated.

You can place a second copy of each in a table of Index or table of contents on a separate sheet. From the index table,

Copy the entry for the table/worksheet you want to go.

Open the dialog to find (command-V)

Paste the entry in the search box. (What it will find and highlight the entry that you have copied to the index table)

Click on the > button on the dialog to find the occurrence FOLLOWING this string (on your target table.

    Kind regards

  • RoboHelp 2015 (12.0.2.384): The search returns topics do not are included in the table of contents

ENVIRONMENT: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 8.00 GB of RAM, 64 - bit OS, Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Acrobat Reader DC 2015.017.20050

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

    • A single RoboHelp HTML project with three exits. One of the outputs is a 'validation' reference that has its own Table of contents.
    • Validation reference Table of contents contains a subset of the subjects in the main help system. For example, the help system main table of contents contains a folder named 'Administration '. This folder is not in the table of contents of reference for Validation.
    • The reference of Validation is displayed on a public web site. Therefore, we applied the tag "Non_public_info" contained in the topics shared that we do not want to appear on the public website.
    • WebHelp parameters are:
      • Validation reference TOC
      • No map file, no sequence to browse
      • Conditional compilation expression: NOT_Non_public_info_AND_NOT_StyleGuidelines_AND_NOT_TRP (we keep our Style rules in the project to facilitate access during development. TRP content must be rejected because it was not released.)
      • Exclude non referenced topics of output is selected.
      • Search options. Only 'Show Total number of search results' and 'View AND search Option in outputs' are selected.
    • After generating the WebHelp, we remove the files that we don't want (RoboHelp generates empty folders, even if the files are not in the table of contents.)

PROBLEM: A search in the help of Validation reference reveals the topics that we think should not be included because the subjects themselves are not in the table of contents of Validation reference. For example, the section "Data quality analysis" is in the main table of contents help, but not in the table of contents of reference for Validation. Therefore, we do not expect the topic appears in the search results pane at all. But he does. When the user clicks on the subject, the "Resource not found" message appears.

Nothing shows the topic Style_Guidelines because the StyleGuidelines label conditional construction applies to the entire folder and the "Style guidelines" book in the main table of contents. (Same thing for the TRP folder).

QUESTION: Why are topics which are not in the table of contents and whose records are not in the project at all appearing in the WebHelp during a search? We need to rewrite the expression of conditional compilation or establish conditions differently. We assume not have topics in the table of contents, not including the topics not referenced in the output, and remove empty folders would be the way to go. Any help is welcome!

    Thank you very much.

    Carol Levie

The table of contents does not control what ends up in the output for output online. All content tagged and tagged content which is not excluded by the expression of construction will be included. The parameter 'Exclude topics not referenced output' more exclude all subjects which are not in the table of contents AND are not related to any topic which is included in the output.

On the other hand, for the print output the table of contents control which is found in the output. I think that it will fire a lot of people.

If you generate the help and that you do not remove the unwanted files, do you still have the error? If this isn't the case, you know that the topic is referenced somewhere in the content of the reference of the Validation.

Here is the help of RH11. I can't imagine it would have changed, but you could do a search to verify a second time for RH2015.

    Exclude output not referenced topics

Select this option to exclude any topic that exists in the project, but is not the default theme in page layout or is not referenced table of selected contents, index or sequence to browse, or any referenced subject.

Note: RoboHelp shows the topics not referenced that are excluded from the output in the output view module.

  • How to display a complete tree of the table of contents in the body of a page instead of the sidebar?

How to display a full (project) TOC tree in the body of the pages of the section instead of the default sidebar (left pane)? Is there a simple way to do this in the application? I have not yet discovered a way to do it, but I can't get to the right place. Any suggestions?

I don't think you can view the table of contents on a page, and even if you could, the sidebar would always be there for indexing and search. The only possibility I can think of is to create a page where you create links arranged to act as a TOC, then maybe iFrame this page in. Each book might be a drop-down list to view links to topics.

Maintenance would be horrible and she barely meets your requirement to be simple.

  • When I generate the table of contents from a new .book, I get blank pages between each page of the table of contents

With FrameMaker 2015. When I generate the table of contents from a new .book, I get blank pages between each page of the table of contents, they are totally blank does not even a block of text. I click on Add> autonomous Create TOC. I keep the default settings. And that's what I'm left with.

    TOC Frame 2015 small.png

I can get rid of them by special> Delete page. But I never had to do before the 2015 version. I tried with older files generated in frame 10. same thing. If someone has encountered this?

Master Pages are part of each document.

You can import master pages from another document (i.e. a ' model') in your current document using the file > import > Formats... option and select layout from the list (deselect all others).

If you have changed the current TOC for the problem of the Page Master on the left, then simply save the file and use the Edit > update book option for that OCD regenerated by using the new page templates.

  • Changes in size of HTML5 sensitive when you click table of contents

I worked with my developer to implement the CSH sensitive HTML by calling the URL of the topic. He said it has works very well when he initially consumed my files. Now that I've done an update, it says they behave differently. He calls the subject in an iFrame, and when he does this for just about any subject other than the default theme, topic views, but he did not get the assistance framework (table of contents, glossary, etc.). For example, his appeal is in this directory:! SSL!/project/topic.htm

He says he can call it like that! SSL!/project/index.htm#t=topic.htm then the topic displays fine, but the window resizes when it click on the table of contents or one of the buttons aid. Maybe Willam van Weelden can help?

HR changed 11.0.3. You can always call a topic, but it will redirect you to the start page of the project. HR 11.0.3. Adobe introduced an iFrame to display the content in the topic where RoboHelp used to have completely separate pages.

Attributes for where the subject must be open lies in the scripts of different widgets. For example, in toctree.js, on line 338 and 345 target is set for the table of contents.

I am surprised that the _self option is to give you problems. I know that it works.

I think that Adobe he didn't consider a scenario that sensitive help was to be opened in an iFrame. I recommend that you file a bug report.

  • Content filtering to display in the table of contents with Actions (possibly using ActionScript?)

I have 7 Captivate and would like to know if it is possible to filter some slides of OCD.

The point here is that they may not be static, but change the slides to show transparently based on the choice of the user.

    == Example ==

    You have a file containing below 3 slides captivate. (A, B, C)

And each slide content is needed for the subject in []. (I, II, III)

    A [I, II AND III]

    B [II, III]

    C [I, III]

Lets say the user wants to know about the topic-II.

While the user should only see slides A and B.

If the user wants to know on the subject-I, then only slides A and C are shown in the table of contents.

    == == End of example

In my view, that's not possible with only using Captivate and research to achieve anyway. (for example. Load the captivate through Flash and control the captivate Flash with AS3 file).

Thanks in advance for your help.

You have no control of this type on the default TOC THAT included with Captivate. You can have this control, if you create a custom table of contents and use advanced/variables actions. Advanced actions are converted on the duration of AS3 (for SWF) or JS (for HTML5). Since you talk about Flash, I assume you want SWF-output. I know a lot about system variables supplied, there may be some hidden variables that you can solve with AS3 or (better IMO) with JS, but only system variables for the table of contents is to lock or hide/show it (if in overlay).
