IdeaPad Y510P feels warm around the vent?

Hello again! I am very satisfied with the way my Y510P works now that I solved the problems of wireless connectivity, but I'm a little worried about somehting else...

Yesterday I spent a LOT of time play Dark Souls 2 on it (and when I play, gets blazing hot on the left of the area around the vent at the computer - I guess that's because I have configured everything to the hightest performance, etc.) and nothing happened, but now I use it and the event feels a little warm.

I don't know if it always was so since I never really paid attention to this and it could be my mind playing tricks on me because I'm worried like that :/

It is... Could play for a long time with the wind being at these high temperatures have caused some sort of problem with my fan or something like that, or the evacuation zone is still very hot and I only notice now?
One of my friends who is much more knowledgeable about the material that I thought: "If your computer ever so hot that some might get damaged it would close and tell you before something bad happened" but I want to make sure that D:

Thanks in advance...

Your friend is right. Your computer laptop CPU and GPU, when it detects that it runs at too high time, then it will be post stop the system before what is seriously damaged. I think it's about 105 before i7M CPU to do this. This is not to say that it will reduce the life expectancy of your computer parts well. However if you replace your laptop every five years or more then you should not have anything to fear.

One of the drawbacks to the games on laptops is the heat - 90 c is not abnormal in these situations. My Lenovo becomes quite hot too around the vents.

  • New Ideapad Y510p crashes/completely off when the games

I've had the laptop since last Friday. I have updated drivers to date and have been installing some games on the device.

I was installing a ton of games for two days while I'm at school (download speeds a lot of steam and origin) and have had problems when I try to run such games.

The laptop has a with the TG 755 M SLI configuration. I noticed that when I tried to play these time on the laptop that I had pretty poor luck. Games seems to crash with frequency, with only a few different times I thought shrank down to active SLI or Anti-Aliasing, but after he crashed a few minutes there shortly after entering a Team Fortress 2 server, now, I don't think that this is the case.

What could cause this? I have the battery removed right now, since it is charged close and seems unnecessary for me to leave it while I use the adapter to 170W. This could be a problem where the adapter is not a sufficient diet and take more power?

I don't think that heat or something like that could be the cause because there is no global warming and the system powers back up very well. I'll try again to play a few games that crashed immediately (BF3) and see if that changes anything. I love the laptop in the case and really hope that it is not and the indicator of a more serious issues.

Rolled back the drivers and all works perfectly now. Guess I'll have to uninstall all nvidia things until I can get the updated display driver.

  • TPM on Ideapad y510P?

I feel silly even asking this question, but I wonder - is it possible to activate the TPM on an Ideapad y510P with a upgraded BIOS or don't chip that comes with the 510 simply not supported TPM?

    Thank you.

    Hi jetboy2k

According to all PDFs of this model, I don't think that it has a function to use the TPM.

    However, this thread can help,

  • Phone feels warmer...

.. Since the GB update. It is not hot directly behind the battery, but on the back around the compound. Someone else?

Yes, me too. My phone downloaded 8 apps or so simultaneously night last and it got pretty hot near the speaker. When the gingerbread has been downloaded, he got warm enough out there that I took off the battery cover. I'll take the phone when I was downloading the ROM update. It seems to work quite well however. The phone is not red hot, but I can feel a difference.

  • IdeaPad y510p clean Windows 7 install - SSD not detected

I bought a new Ideapad y510p just before Christmas and I wanted to do a clean install of Windows 7-64 bit.

I created a USB startup device as required and put the drivers from lenovo on her page too.

My problem is: after you delete the partitions, the installer of windows 7 do not recognize the SSD more...
My BIOS is set with legacy of disabled secure boot support.

Furthermore, when it came to load the drivers, it says no driver signed device not found.

Someone has an idea of what's going on?

    Hi Clet,

Since the serial number on this picture, you have the 59375625 model. After digging further, this parts search page and this point merchant does not seem an SSD on the specifications list. If the reception / box indicates that you have a 1 TB + 24 GB SSD, you may need to check under the hood (see pages 38-39 of the hardware maintenance manual)

  • Replace hard drive SSD in IdeaPad y510p

    Hi all

I've had the IdeaPad y510p for a while now. This is the model with dual graphics, 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB HDD + 24GB SSD combo. (If you need me to be more precise, let me know). The 5400 hard drive RPM was slow this machine and I recently bought a 512 GB SSDS.

Is this compatible with the laptop? Of my little knowledge of hard drives, I assumed it was and picked it up.

Also, how I go on my PC cloning so that everything can be copied on the SSD drive, including start-up and all files and recovery partitions.

And one last thing. Is the separate 24 GB SSD or the part the 1 TB HARD drive... in other words, can I keep the secondary, more small SSD in as well?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Lenovo Ideapad y510p - memory upgrade

So since Christmas is coming, I thought it would be cool to upgrade my 8 GB RAm 16 GB my question is: what type of card Gerard, I need my lenovo ideapad y510p? and what I have to change my old memory card aswell if im buying a new?

Also is it easy to change the RAM cards?

The worst thing that can happen is that memory does not work with full 1866MTs, but it will certainly work.

The first is a 2.5 "drive, so you should replace your hard drive with it. The other works, but not as a cache. If you do not want to buy a form mSATA SSD, it is best to install the top OS. Kingston is not the best brand when it comes of SSD. Discover Crucial, Samsung, Plextor. It would be a good idea to read some current reviews and comparisons of the SSD. always keep the highest priority on reliability.

  • Lenovo ideapad Y510P what kind of hard drive is this?

    Hi people,

I have a question. Today I want to defragment my Ideapad Y510P, but I don't know why I have 5 stations of hard drive? What type of disc is \\?\Volume{3db4... (see photo)

    Gamenick wrote:
But that disk station is fragmented by 29%, it does not matter?

As noted that the partition has been created by the operating system. I don't know what (probably for recovery). Since there is a schedule for Defrag I think it will be supported by the system when the time comes. So I just deal with C and D and leave the others alone. The other two partitions should be used by OKR.

  • IdeaPad Y510p lights.

I have recently bought an ideapad y510p from newegg a few days ago. I tried to put in place and all that, try to get rid of programs that came preloaded with the laptop because I don't think that I would need them. I then close, put it down and open again and now it won't turn. It seems that both the power light and the battery are both, as well as the power light, but the screen itself is empty and I can't hear the computer being on. I tried holding down the power button / stop and resetting, as well as the battery and using only the AC to see if things were going to turn on but nothing works. I'm worried I might have deleted something important, but I was especially removal programs related to media players of poor quality and other similar services. It is quite upsetting I just got this laptop and he already died on me!

I tried this procedure, nothing happened. For some strange reason when I press on and hold the power button, the light if turned off but just because I have my finger light is switched on immediately.

I'll take the initiative and move forward to send it to lenovo for repair. It is covered by the warranty, so I'm more worried that I am pained and frustrated by the situation.

  • Lenovo ideapad y510p boot on CD/DVD

    Hello

Just had the laptop y510p and I am trying to install Ubuntu, so I have this DVD bootable and I wanted to try out Ubuntu before you install as usual, but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On the start menu options, there are only EFI and a kind of network options but not dvd.

I tried following the instructions here, but regardless of how many times I press F1 during boot, I can't start menu and windows starts directly:

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_CY/downloads/detail.page?docid=HT036814

Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot ubuntu 13.10.

I don't understand why there is no option to rearrange devices to boot on my old PC.

I managed to get the BIOS configuration by pressing the restart and Maj and then selecting settings UEFI firmware and I chance to the configurations of the bios, but still no way to find the option to start on a dvd.

    Any advice? Thank you

I managed to install ubuntu, the problem is that my cd is defective, here's a blog where I wrote about the steps

    in the case, someone must:

    http://vaxapp.WordPress.com/2014/02/09/install-Ubuntu-12-04-3-on-a-Lenovo-IdeaPad-y510p/

I found a lot of answers here:

    http://AskUbuntu.com/questions/221835/installing-Ubuntu-on-a-pre-installed-Windows-8-64-bit-system-u...

Although for Windows 7 the problem is perhaps that he does not support UEFI and or secure boot?

In windows 8 type ctr + C then the power button, then press Caps + restart and then chose the option help out and something UEFI and you will restart in the bios, then you can change the settings to disable secure boot and/or inherited instead of the UEFI boot.

When you press F12 is the start menu, but you won't see that entries that are UEFI-compatible (if you are using the UEFI) either CD or USB

  • Install Windows 7 on a laptop IdeaPad Y510p of Windows 8

My friend just got his new laptop IdeaPad Y510p today, but as he doesn't like Windows 8, I gave her a Windows 7 disc to put on instead (as I know the drive works, as I used it twice before on two different computers). Shut down the computer, put in the disc and went to the bios to change the boot order. Windows 7 download, but when it gets to the startup screen that says "Starting Windows" with three red, yellow and blue balls, he runs for a second, but then freezes and does nothing after that. He tried to restart the computer, but it still does the same thing. He also tried by pressing the button on the side of the computer recovery, but this does not, either. What should we do?

    Hi cheyenne1433,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Based on what you have posted here, you must change the Startup Mode in the BIOS. I'm here for WOOD > "STARTUP" tab > and change the Startup Mode for Legacy Support. Then save the settings and try to reinstall the operating system again...

    I hope this helps.

Let me know how it goes.

  • configuration problem IdeaPad Y510p sleep

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a Lenovo ideapad y510p laptop with graphics 750 m SLI. The first thing I did was to remove the excess of bloatware that comes with the laptop and have had a very positive experience with the machine together.

Recently, I noticed if I let my laptop idle, he spends in sleep mode pretty quickly. I tried to adjust the Power Options in the control panel to allow the computer to stay awake for as long as an hour plugged and 15 minutes on the battery, but the laptop still go to sleep after having been slowed for only 60 seconds. In troubleshooting, I tried to re - download management utility of the energy that the laptop comes with, but still, he goes into sleep in about 60 seconds. I tried to update my video drivers too, but my computer tells me that they are currently up-to-date.

I'm not sure what I should try, but if someone else has a suggestion, I'd be happy to give it a try.

    Thanks in advance,

    Apparently my problem disappeared!

It is dificult for me indicate exactly what measures or combination of steps worked for me, but after selecting the option 'balanced' in the power settings and adjust that power to my taste options, my cell phone is always placed in standby mode after one minute ("sleep" mode had been established at 30 minutes). I have re-uploaded Lenovos "Energy management" utility and set the settings to my liking and also installed a windows update. After a system reset, it seems that I have total control over my settings of power once more!

I don't know if the solution lies in the update of windows, the system restarts or management utility power, but one or more of the following has solved my problem. I hope someone out there finds this helpful thread!

    Thank you very much

    Jason
