Disconnect your mouse (if USB) when you want to test.  Physically.  Get away from the computer.

  • My screensaver from win7 refuses to start when the computer is idle

There are very few times when my screen saver works.  Otherwise, I'm sure that there will be no screensaver when I come back from a stay, a meal, etc.

    Hello

When you set a time for a screen saver start, the computer must be completely empty (no activity) during this time, the screen saver to start.

The most common problem if the screen saver does not work, it's that you have a device or a program that constantly generates sufficient activity to prevent the screensaver to start.

Some of these devices and programs are devices/programs of VOIP, like Magicjack, Skype, etc. These devices and programs can be set to monitor at all times for incoming calls.

Some antivirus programs may generate enough activity to prevent a screensaver from starting.

  • How can I use my photo albums as screensaver with Apple TV 4th gen

How can I use a photo album that I created as a screensaver on the generation of Apple TV 4 because it is not an option in this sense?

What follows is the Apple TV 4 user guide...

    Screensavers

Apple TV displays a screen saver when it remains inactive for a predefined number of minutes.

Air screensaver shows beautiful videos of slow motion of the places of the world, upload to an online server, making the screen saver more engaging and dynamic. For the antenna, you can control how many times Apple TV check and download new videos.

Change the frequency of aerial screensaver download. In settings, go to general > screen saver and select Download New Videos, and then select an option.

Return by using Apple TV. When the screen saver is active, press the contact surface to get to some app have been previously using.

Choose a different screen saver. In settings, go to general > screen saver and select the Type. Then select the screen saver you want to use.

Select the photos to display. Many of the screen saver options display a slide show of photos - it can include photos provided by Apple, or your own collection stored in iCloud. To choose which photos are used, in the settings, go to general > screen saver and select the Type. Then choose one of the types of screensaver-photographers.

If you choose my Photos, the Photos app opens. Follow the instructions to put photos as screensaver.

Set the screensaver time-out. In settings, go to general > screen saver and select the setting starts after, and then specify a number of minutes. This indicates to the Apple TV to start the screen saver automatically if the unit has been idle for the specified time.

Activate the screen saver immediately. Press the Home button to go to the home screen (if it isn't already), and then press the button twice.

  • Vista Start black normal & all Security Modes, restore fails, screensaver ŒUVRES

Yesterday (18/06/09) I installed a few new updates, but is not a restart.  Today, the system was sitting idle (, but nobody use it) and we had a power failure.  Restart the system wanted to make a volume control.  During the audit, he found a bunch of bad index entries.  The files went flying by pretty fast, but I could tell that many of them had something to do with Media Center.  Then later in the repair of the volume, she added a bunch of orphaned files.  I couldn't give a sense these files because all the entries were similar to Hex IDs.

So that brings us to today.  The system starts with black screen with a mouse pointer.  System knows I have 2 monitors connected & I can move the mouse between the two monitors.  With the help of other boots (via F8 in the boot menu) produced similar results, except in safe mode boots, the system does not know the 2nd monitor.  CTRL-ALT-DEL does nothing.  (Do NOT bring up the Task Manager.)  The SHIFT key to display the Sticky Keys dialog box.  After a while, the screen saver turns on.  With screensaver KB/mouse activity outputs and system back to black screen.

All the security startup black screen Modes.
Low-resolution video starts with black screen.
Black screen on startup of the diagnostic Mode.
Directory Services Restore Mode reports all my disks are clean and black screen on startup.
Sleep key works.  Wake up, the system returns to black screen.

OK, here's a little recap... BLACK SCREEN!

So next I tried the repair your computer...

Log in to my account admin OK.  Then I tried to Startup Repair which could not detect a problem.  Then I tried the system restore.  System Restore is all my restore points registered in April ' 09.  System Restore Gets an error and fails to load any restore point.  I have two different messages depending on what point of restoration, I try.

2 most recent restore points are of yesterday and today and the updates, I just installed but never rebooted before the power failure disk check.  When I try these 2 restore points, I get the following:

The configuration register is corrupted. (0x800703F1)

If I try the old restore points, I get:

Cannot open the file transactionally, because its identity is function
on the outcome of a transaction not resolved.  (0x80071AA7)

Reading through the error of this last web messages makes me think to there is a bad dependency in the update / restore of the system process.  If pending updates become corrupt, old restore points will fail.  Is this true?

I can boot from a CD-ROM of 3rd party and see my programs and data on the disk.  I did a full inspection, but it seems that all of my stuff is still there.

So finally I tried to reinstall my Vista system, and my only option is to replace my entire system.  The update option is grayed out.  I used to be able to do a re-install/upgrade to update in the old days (XT & before), but it seems that it's not possible with Vista.  It would be great if I had my old system before SP1, and then I could re - install SP1 & all of my updates.  But it would be impossible for me to recreate my 1 TB from scratch system.  Simply, I have enough DVDS to back up a lot of data.

Is there a solution to my boot at the digital black problem, or I'm really screwed?  A reasonable solution is much appreciated.

    ==============

    UPDATE...

I can access shared folders on the blackened on Vista machine.  I created my user account on another computer (Win XP) and am also able to access all my user files.  In addition to the screen saver and the sticky keys work, it seems that file sharing works also.  However, the printer share and office remotely (using Ultra VNC) do not work.

Hey Ken, I just reread your post previous and tried your procedure.  Are your steps to perform a repair install on Windows site:

    1. Insert the Windows installation disc in your computer's DVD or CD drive. You must start Windows installation while running your existing version of Windows.

    2. on the Install Windows page, click install now .

    3. on the get updates for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. You will need an Internet connection to get the installation updates.

    4. on the Type your product key for activation , we strongly recommend that you type your 25-character product key in order to avoid problems during activation.

    5. on the page Please read the terms of the license , if you accept the license terms, click I accept the terms of the license .

    6. to the which type of installation you want? page, click upgrade to begin the upgrade. You can see a compatibility report.

    7 follow the instructions.

Note : If your installation disc doesn't include SP1 , and you are updated, then you must uninstall it before proceeding with an update install. Start-> Control Panel-> programs-> see installed updates , then select Service Pack for Microsoft Windows and click on Uninstall.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck on the first step.  Start a Windows installation when executing my existing version of Windows when my existing version of Windows starts with a black screen, and the only interaction of console, I am able to do what a screen saver and the Sticky Keys dialog box?  What is the trick to start installation?  I can't find.  Is there a way to launch the installation with the keys dialog box to sticky?

In addition, in the case where I, how to uninstall SP1 from a black screen?  The dialog box of the sticky keys which they as well?

I know that other messages that other users could not bring up the Task Manager with CTRL-ALT-DELETE.  As I said in my original post, I can't do it.  THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS FOR ME IS THE STICKY KEYS DIALOG BOX.  So I do not buy any version of Vista at all costs will have what I need because Windows Vista just can't do a re - installed on-site if your Windows Vista is not running after a black screen.  Right?

I'm getting very frustrated and would be very grateful for any help.  I just can't figure how to get the computer do anything when the only thing it starts is a black screen.  And none of my restore points can be restored.  I thought that the system restore has been the goal of the restoration of the system.  Why my Vista system locks my system restore? I don't understand!

I think that this last update not to not fill properly and locked up my system.  Is it possible for me to undo than a black screen or a Setup disk?

BTW, Western Digital diagnostics transmitted without error.  Then at the command prompt on my Vista disk, I ran chkdsk and it fixed some files.  I think they were just left by a system restore failed.  So I ran sfc from the command prompt using sfc/scannow damaged = c: \ /offwindir = c:\windows.  He ran for a while and there was no violation of integrity.  If the drive seems fine.  Are there tools that can help me find the problem?  Is that what I can do to restore the registry to an earlier time manually?

  • Vista Home Premium Screensaver Aurora and the energy of Windows

Since 3 weeks I have had really bad luck with 2 of your screensavers and my 4 graphics cards. I'm not sure what kind of screensavers guys do but 2 named Aurora and Windows energy should never have been released to the public without testing, including the impact on your GPU and overheating.

In the last 3 weeks I was troubleshooting problem vista Home Premium 32 - bit Windows and freezing issues. Card provided with the computer was GeForce 6150 TO work for about 2 months and then computer began to do bad things, freeze, stop, don't work sometimes and some other questions. I thought it was bad GPU so I replaced it with my HIS ATI Radeon X 1950 Pro, this card gave me warnings 12 hours after it has been installed that card is running a little hot and the ATI software will lower FREQ map. This card lasted about 2 days and he died too, but this time model would be just weird points and not whole screen is unreadable. I installed the program called the fan speed to monitor and record what is happening with this card. Computer has been used for business only IE and a few other small programs where ran, no games or anything. Since my last card was fried I replaced it with my GeForce 7900 GT OC, this card gave me the nice amount of needed data, but at the same time, this card lasted only 3 days.

I thought as the fans run at full speed and becomes pleasant cooling perhaps is the PCI-E slot which is a short or something, wrong.
Today I went to the store to buy PCI card, got nice $65 GeForce 6200 and plugged in, the fan speed is ready to record everything, Idle temperatures where 41 C for 47 of the CPU and GPU. I was doing some defragment and antivirus, trying to run the CPU at 100% and record what is happening that I was also running Media player and other programs with Visual effects to see if I can push this cards Temp. above its limits, after 2 hours of messing around with this, I gave up and is gone to smoke a cigarette, returned screensaver has been running (Aurora btw) off and checked the temp. Newspaper.

Fan speed showed warning and GPU temp to 85 C. Then I then and tried the same thing on the screen saver Windows energy and got the same results, just go inside the screensaver and clicking on Aurora screensaver will bring your cards temp at least 5 c in a second.

Since I do not use Vista (and will never) on my home computer, I was wondering if someone with the GTX 200 series can try and test this point and see how many temp. changes on his rig during this operation. I my rig with windows XP pro and don't know if I can get Aurora or energy of Windows XP to test it on my GTX 260 sli.

    Thank you

I would check the power supply. A screen saver will NOT cause to burn three cards. MCDST

    Hi pfdr70,

    1. are you able to apply other screensavers?

We recommend trying the following steps and check the result.
Step 1: Download and install the latest video card driver.
1 visit the system manufacturer's Web site, download the Vista compatible video card driver and install it.
2 restart the computer so that the changes take effect after the driver installation.

Step 2: Set the monitor to display better.
See Get the best display on your monitor
    Step 3: Enable graphics acceleration.
    1. open display settings by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, on appearance and customization, personalization, and then clicking display settings.
    2. click on display settings, and then click Advanced settings.
    3. click on the Troubleshooting tab, and then click on change settings.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    4. move the slider full hardware acceleration.

  • Screensaver - fail to start (not starting)

    Problem: Windows get the screensaver with the result;

    -a computer unlocked,

-a screen constantly showing the desktop computer

Suspected or causes: Windows Media Center, Intellipoint drivers

More information: This has happened for a long time with mouse of laptop with windows vista. I looked around and it seems to have something to do with Windows Media Center (ref: http://bryantlikes.com/ScreenSaverDoesntActivateInVista.aspx). I have enough problems with the fact that Windows Media Center is boring and useless (for me) but now when it causes problems the solution would be to UNINSTALL THIS GARBAGE.

Cannot do it... but you can go through a rigamaroll to disable WMC services. It is a bit much. Microsoft read you? Do WMC a feature in windows that you can just disable in programs and features.

Concerns: This isn't the first question that Vista has had with the screensaver is not acquired. The screen saver is peace of mind for many people. It MUST take place in order to protect the information of the current user. If it's not it means that Windows is broken and potentially non-secure. Why so many programs do not have the capacity to interrupt the countdown until the screen saver happens? Shouldn't the peripheral activity control human interface be processed by a program or a driver who oversees all HIDs? Should we not THAT the pilot able to interrupt the countdown screen saver or a SINGLE program. How did Microsoft can't even get this right? Twice if not more now.

Just someone to tell me that the solution is to buy Windows 7. I dare you.

(Linux looking for very nice for daily use now.) I could activate Windows whenever I feel like treating fail or whenever I want to run my windows apps and when I finished I could switch to linux and leave the computer idle and start my inactive programs securely it.)

In any case, I hope you come all upward with a suitable/fix solution because this isn't the fix etc. compatible HID No. I already have it. Hop we're Microsoft, do not let people on the hanging of Vista.

    Zoele,

I'm looking to get additional information about your question.

The problem when Windows Media Center is closed?
Also, have you tried adjusting your mouse power management settings:

    1. Click Start , type Device Manager and press enter
    2. Find your mouse that is causing the problem, right-click on it and choose Properties
    3. Click the power management tab at the top of the window
    4. Try different combinations of activation or deactivation of these parameters to see if the problem persists
Let me know if it helps.

  • Is it possible to stop Windows 8 snaps every idle minute?

Whenever I leave the computer (windows 8) or simply turn for more than a minute, the computer locks and I have to reconnect. Help! I have not found solutions to work! Battery advanced options did not work, my computer is supposed to never turn the screen or go to sleep! However, it blocks every minute! I got this computer 3 days only! and windows 8 for the same amount of time!

    My suggestion:
Since there is no apparent working solution, Microsoft should do a windows 8 update fixing this problem. The update should prevent the computer hang when idle, except if specified to do so. The update MUST be turned off in the month, or I'll lose my patience.
Even though I love Microsoft, if they don't fix Windows 8, they will begin to lose steam and get left behind in the world of technology. They must step up their game and give people what they want and what they need. from effectively controlling the forums. and this post.

I found this way. Right-click on an empty space in the desktop, click Personalize, go to the screensaver below on the right, then when the pop up screen saver settings, go down to where it says wait and change what that time you want. Even I don't think that you need a screen saver turned on to make it work. It works for me, I have my computer lock now after ten minutes of inactivity.
