• iDRAC 7 launch Virtual Console fails with access denied error

  Hello

  whenever I try to launch the idrac video console 7, it fails with an "Access denied" error it's weird because I'm connected to the idrac as superuser. I use JDK 1.6. I tried through different browsers and I still get the same error.

  Found the same problem after an update of the Firmware to iDRAC.

  To address I created a new user account and permissions of base. Seems "Access Virtual Console" even when checked permissions do not actually post update.

  When I click on this shortcut, a window with the message "Connecting to Virtual Console Server" appears, then another window slow "failed to connect, perhaps because of the network connection. Please try again ".

  The above method works with redirection to console of Sun ILOM (also to be downloaded/opened by Java Web Start JNLP file). The difference is that the version of the Sun can ask for name of user and password not everything in a Dell. IDRAC6 Video Viewer of Dell has the askpass function?

  I tried with Windows IE9. However, the open video viewer of IE9 does not have a keyboard input. Click on "Tools - Options Session' fails to open the options window (nothing happens after the click) - result of IE9 uses Active X not Java?"

  I also tried with Firefox under RHEL6 / x 86, that one works perfectly.

• Failed to get Virtual Console working on R710, iDRAC6 v1.95

  I've searched the forums and Google but can't seem to find a solution to this problem. Details:

  • iDRAC6
  • Firmware: v1.95 (also passed the previous, updated firmware upgraded to this version to see if she would be in trouble but did not)

  I would recommend the DRAC reset to the factory settings. The command that you have done a racadm racreset performs a soft reset/reboot of the racadm racresetcfg DRAC reset the DRAC to factory default. You will need to reconfigure the user/pass and the local network settings after you perform this operation.

  I am trying to run the Console java applet virtual iDRAC7.

  After clicking through several pop-up windows, die "connection to the server of virtual console...". THE CONNECTION HAS FAILED.

  How to solve this problem?

  -If the machine is PowerEdge r.620 with license full iDRAC (connected via a shared LAN port).

  -iDRAC Firmware version 1.40.40 (build 17), the controller firmware 1.1.1.18 lifecycle

  -Host operating system: Win7 x 64, Firefox 27.0.1,

  -1.7.0_51 Java, set security level to the minimum set of live internet connection.

  -iDRAC settings on the virtual console: type of plugin java =, port 5900

  -ActiveX plugin on 32-bit Windows XP with IE 8 works almost well (IE11 on Win7 is useless because of issue of certificate).

  Do I need a firmware update? Update Java applet?

• Virtual console jump menu GRUB after turn Linux VM

  I recently updated my test environment for the 4.0 versions of vCenter Server and vSphere ESXi Client.  I usually have several cores available on my Linux virtual machines and choose which one I want to use in the GRUB menu that happens after hitting the leak when the GRUB invite appears on the virtual console.  After the upgrade, however, the virtual console remains black after turning on a VM until the GRUB prompt has already expired and started automatically to the default kernel.  This occurs on the virtual machines using two hardware virtual version 4 and 7.  Restart of a virtual machine while keeping the open virtual console seems to be the only way to get the GRUB prompt to appear.  I think the virtual console in vSphere 4.0 Client accused to turn a virtual computer that force is not to display the first seconds of video.  Everyone knows about this problem?

  You can add a start delay through the settings-> Options-> Start Options - it is in milliseconds.  10 000 (10 seconds) must be long enough for the chance to see the GRUB menu.

• DRAC6 virtual console does not not in Win8/IE10?

  I have a Poweredge R610 with a DRAC6.  It works very well.  I got a new computer Windows 8 with Internet Explorer 10.  No matter what I do the virtual console will not come under IE10 on this machine to Windows 8.

  It works fine in Firefox and IE older on the other two Win7 machines.
  I tried to update the firmware of 1.92 to 1.98, but he's always just there with an X in the upper left corner of the window to the virtual console and fails.

  Anyone know what I have to do to make this work?  I added the IP address of the web sites the trust sites and everything.

• iDRAC6 connection failed trying to connect to the Virtual Console

  I have built an ESXi 4 host and setting up the DRAC.  I can get to the DRAC and cruise around in there, but when I try to launch a virtual console, I get connection failed.  Any idea on why I can't get the console to launch?  Thank you in advance.

  Thanks for posting!  Usually, if the console launches, the ActiveX plugin is not installed, or ports 5900 and 5901 are blocked.  If you do not download the ActiveX plugin, do the DRAC, a trusted site and then set this box to allow all ActiveX activity without asking for confirmation.  If you think that the port can be blocked, connect a cable modem directly Simulator on the DRAC, and try to connect from a system directly connected to the DRAC.

• Failed to launch the virtual console DRAC6 Express, error connection failed

  Hi I have mulitple R610 Dell servers that I have configured the DRAC on.

  I can log on to the DRAC and I everything works apart from the Virtual Console.

  When I try to run it I get an error "Failed to connect" immediately, I added the ip address of the DRAC explorers trusted Internet-Sites and all active x controls enabled.

  Can anyone tell what else to try, I also read another article on Virtual Console does not work on DRAC 6 Express is this correct?

  I created a basic Bluprint to create an empty VM. I add the property "VirtualMachine.CDROM.Attach" true (screenshot attached), but when I opened the console the two only options are "Send CTRL + ALT + DELETE" and "toggle fullscreen" (screenshot attached).

  How can I join a CD-ROM to install an operating system or any other application?

  I was able to partially solve this.

  In order to mount a CD-ROM, we configure Orchestrator and use the workflow to "Mount the CD-ROM" as a new 'Action' in the vCAC. I did it and it works perfectly.

  The only problem is that only can mount ISO vcenter catalog and not from the client computer files.

  In fact, now I can create new workflows in Orchestrator build lots of 'Actions' for virtual machines. It's really cool!

• Unable to access the Virtual Console 2.0 storage

Some side effects have been experienced. I am now seeking to create a workflow to disable 3D and set to automatic detection for our servers. I found the properties "enable3DSupport" and "useAutoDetect" under VirtualDeviceConfigSpec.VirtualDevice.VirtualMachineVideoCard.

  I had planned this script in action and create a workflow to move a virtual machine as the user selects.

  I recently received a T420 for virtualization in a lab environment.  I do not VDI, but I don't want to run several virtual machines at once, which will be my daily VM.  I have no need of a GPU for thousands of dollars more but I want graphics better than the edge [] most of the servers are given.  No crazy game, but some GPU functions would be nice.  That's the problem.  It seems that ONLY cards that this guy supports are the Q4000 and Q6000 Nvidia cards?  Seriously?  Is this really the case? I don't care about Dell support but I am not allowed to use my graphics for a $100 Best Buy card?  I really hope I'm just something missing.  The T420 allows graphics cards Nvidia Q4000 or Q6000?  If not, what is someone knows why?  What is a bios limitation?  Is this some other limitations of the technique?

  Hi Zanzaboo,

  I'm not aware of what we have done to disable not taken in charge specifically video cards, although we certainly cannot guarantee their compatibility or we tested or them validated in all configurations and for this reason, do not recommend. For graphics supported on the T420 (as you correctly identified as the Q4000 and Q6000), you must disable video output shipped from the BIOS/system setup under embedded devices (pg 30-31, support.dell.com/.../T420OMen.pdf ) to get the video output. Note that when you do so, the video output of iDRAC virtual console will not be available until the embedded video is again enabled. I don't know of any reason you can not follow the same steps with an unsupported graphics card but I must stress we do not test or validate it and if it does not you would have any recourse under the guarantee (i.e. not replace us the motherboard for a defective PCI-e port for example). I don't know if PCI-e video passthrough works here, but you may need to configure the SR - IOV (just below the embedded video setting), by the needs of your hypervisor. Let us know how it goes and good luck!

  We have a R430 with an idrac 8.

  We need to access the virtual console, and for many reasons, it must be that its port is different from the default (5900), let's say 5905.
  Everything works fine with the 2.15.10.10 firmware.

  Today, we updated the firmware with lifecycle controller v.2.21.21.21 and the virtual console a work stoppage: when Java runs, after a few seconds, a warning window appears with the message "the network connection fell.

  We tested it without a firewall or other NAT between, so we think it's a bug of the 2.21.21.21 version.
  With the new version, the virtual console only works if the port is configured to 5900.

  We did a restore to version 2.15.10.10 and everything works fine again, also with a non-standard port.

  I just tested it and could not reproduce the problem. Have you been able to reproduce this on another system?

  I would like to start by trying a new port number that has not been used to see if it could be a caching problem. If the problem persists, then reset the iDRAC to default values to generate a new configuration file. The file was corrupted during the update of the firmware.
