• An IDSM2 and two CatOS 6509 - Spanning options

  We have currently IDSM2 blade in one of our 6509 s. Port 7 is defined as a security acl capture port. It works very well. We would like to use the 8 port to capture the traffic from other 6509 (load balanced). We thought about doing a RSpan, but wouldn't the traffic RSpanned duplicate on port 7 due to the port of acl security screenshot?

  What is a better way to do it? Any ideas would be useful.

  Put in place a Source RSPAN session to copy packages on the vlan RSPAN since the other switch (no installed IDSM2).

  Don't forget that RSPAN vlan is configured as a vlan RSPAN on both switches, and a port trunk will carry the VLANs RSPAN between 2 switches.

  In the switch with port configuration IDSM2 8 as an RSPAN destination.

  You will not have an RSPAN source in this switch.

  This way port 8 gets from the other switch RSPAN packets.

  As long as packets pass through ONLY one of the 2 switches, then port 7 will monitor the switch where the IDSM2, and will follow you port 8 (by RSPAN) another switch, and you don't get duplicate packets.

  Something to keep in mind if you have 7 monitoring port vlan 10 in the switch A, and you configure 8 port to monitor the VLANs 10 switch B through RSPAN.

  You may be tempted to say that these VLANs 10 packets sent to port for the RSPAN 8 would be also seen by port 7, but that wouldn't be right.

  This is because that these packets of vlan 10 switch B are actually to be copied to the vlan special RSPAN that monitors the port 8. Switch A sees the packets as DEAD on the vlan special RSPAN and does not know the origin vlan for packages. It also means, however, that when alarms come from controlled 8 port traffic alarms all lists the VLANs RSPAN VLAN as for alarm.

  Another thing to keep in mind. When you set this, you need to realize that 7 and 8 ports are ports of junction for all THE VLAN in the switch by default.

  I recommend the 7 port and using the command 'clear the trunk' delete the vlan port 7 RSPAN (as much as it is not a destination RSPAN anyway). And for port 8 use the "clear core" command to remove ALL the VLAN except the vlan RSPAN.

• The upgrade IDSM2 and IDS 4235

  I have 12 IDSM2 and 4 ID 4235 managed through VMS, I configured the automatic download of updates of signature but I noticed that S189 was missed.

  Is it possible to apply the latest Service Pack 4.1.5 virtual machines? If so should I just upload the file to the correct directory and apply it as a normal signature update or what method should I use? I need to centrally manage the update process because my IDS systems are all landlocked.

  VMS has the ability to push updates to the sensor. Updates include service packs, minor versions and updates of the signature. You're right in that VMS uses .zip files to update the sensors. If you use the .pkg file VMS will be error on it towards the sensor.

  There is no separate driver for webcam integrated for Dell 15R model, pilot get automatically installed when you install Windows 7 OS.

  For video capture of webcams for sites with flash (youtube, livestream and etc.), I use a driver and a DirectShow filter. The user loads a page with flash and chooses a driver or a filter from the list of camera flash for video capture settings.

  My problem. To win 8.1 x 64 in Internet Explorer 11 flash does not show the DirectShow filters, only drivers.  I see these filters in Chrome, Firefox and Skype, but it's not in IE! No problem with IE in flash for Win 7 x 86 / x 64.

  Hmmm, my answer in the other thread was provided with 8 Captivate HD video demo application.  It was a response, not a tutorial, I assume nothing, just talked about this alternative. The screenshot that you have is for a normal software simulation, using slides. I've never used panning during a software simulation of recording at all. My first question would be: do you need interactivity in this "movie"? If this isn't the case, you can try the demo video (is available in the Welcome screen, third icon in the first row). There is not many tutorials autour, it seems that very few people use it. I have published two films created with the demo video, you could have a peek at one to check if this is what you want to do:

  You will see some pan and zoom in this film. Advantage over the Pan in a simulation software in the course of the capture, is that in demo the pan and zoom can be applied later during editing in the dedicated video editor. And the quality is much better, since it is HD and non-destructive.

  If you want to stay with the simulation of software (maybe because you need interactivity), I would never pan when entering, but in different regions, and for Zoom capture have sufficient quality, create separate images and apply effects to it. A combination of slides in demo with normal slides is another possibility.

• Correct settings for HDV capture

  Hello. I use first CS5.5. I went on a few forums to get the right settings for HDV capture.

  I can save the pictures very well. However, I saw a few things that don't seem right.

  After capturing HDV footage, the file was a .mpeg file. Second, the clip has been 1 hour and 10 minutes and

  It was only 11.3 GB. Does this sound right? A 55-minute .avi file is 11.6 GB. I thought that an HDV clip would be quite a large file.

  If this sound right does not, is there somewhere I could go to, to check that my settings are correct? By the way I'm shooting and capture with a Canon XHA1.

  The film is 1080i. HDV. I exported and it seems fine. I want to just make sure I captured it properly and in the best quality.

  You cannot use parameters for capture, since it is only a digital transfer of data. This is an exact copy of what is on the tape, nothing more, nothing less.
