If I download Windows 7 I can copy it to a disk, or would it be better to pay $15.00 to get a disk shipped to me in case I need to recover my system?

upgrading to windows 7

I have windows vista Ultimate edition 64 bit SP2, which I checked it can be upgraded to windows 7ultimate I wondering if I download it can I copy on CD if I need to recover my windows it is better to get by shipping, or I'll be able to have the recovery only CD if I buy it for $ 15 extra

Yes.  Assuming that you buy on Microsoft Store, you can download the .iso to the 32-bit and 64-bit versions images and burn images on dvd.  Do not copy images to dvd, burn it to dvd.  Do the two DVDs, because you pay for them.  The .iso images are the same for DVD in the box copies.

    Hi dynamitenews

    1. are you able to boot to the desktop?
    2. what happens when you try to start the computer?

You must have the DVD drive to start the computer using the disk, you cannot use the external hard drive to do the same thing.

Also I suggest you to make sure you have defined the start as CD/DVD-Rom as the first choice option in the BIOS. See below the help link-

Can I use the Recovery Disc creator to create a new disk and restart or reformat my system back to factory settings?

I agree with Akuma. If you didn t change anything on your system and the recovery disc creator to work properly, you can create your own recovery media and use it for any new OS install.

  • Try to get the Group Policy settings to apply without the need to restart the system

Original title: problem using Windows policies

    Hi all

I work with Windows computer local policies to restrict access to usb storage, especially, I'm inside the GPO edit and I change the setting: Local computer--> model Administration--> system--> peripheral access removable--> all removable storage classes: deny all access
(I have the Italian version, so may be, my translation is not perfect)

My problem is this: I have to restart the computer to see the changes take place. I tried to run "GPUPDATE/force", but no way: the policy starts to not work after restarting the computer.
    Where I'm wrong?

In Windows 7, everything works fine with GPUPDATE/force

I am using Microsoft Windows VISTA Ultimate SP2 32 bit

  • where can I download windows 7 premium or ultimate edition in order to update my windows vista basic

I have the product key for my Windows Vista Basic Home Edition;  but I can not find windows 7 premium or ultimate edition to download and upgrade my windows vista computer.  I am looking in the Microsoft page and I can't find the Advisor to upgrade windos I have laready run. Now I need a direction to download windows 7 anyone can help me?

    Thanks in advance

Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

    Full version (retail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-Does not require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

    -Expensive

    Upgrade version (detail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

-Expensive, but less expensive full version

    OEM System Builder version:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

There is nothing wrong to use it too, especially that all future versions of Windows will be full versions.

  • Download Windows 7 Home Premium

Apart from digital river (which is now idscontinued), where I can download Windows 7 Home Premium, if I have the product key?

I ran into this problem several times on my client computers.  In most cases about any disk Windows 7 will do the job.  Borrow one from a friend.  You need to match the version though: Home edition Premium/Professional; 32-bit / 64-bit.  If you use choice that has SP1, it will save you hours of time.

    Hi Linda,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community. It seems that you can not download Windows 8.1 update on your computer.

I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:

    1. What is your Internet speed? You use Wired internet connection / wireless?

    2. What happens when you try to download the Windows 8.1 update?

    3. You access the internet through the proxy settings?

  • copy of a recovery disk

    Hello

I just created a recovery for my compaq presario cq40 disc.  I burned on a DVD + R DL RW verbatim.  Recovery manager allow me to create another disc of recovery and said recovery disk that only one per cell is allowed.

is it possible to copy this disc? just to double back the reasons. It will work just the same as the original disk, I created with the Recovery Manager?

In my view, that it won't let you create another one due to the violation of the copy right or something of this nature.

I think you can copy them using image burning.

    http://download.CNET.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html

I just tried this program and it allowed me to copy my HP factory recovery disks, so there is a good chance that it will work for you.

Use the "create disc image files", it creates ISO files that you store on your disk hard that you can then burn to a DVD and create a copy of your recovery disks. I think that you may need to use double layer here.

You say burn Image where to put ISO files. I would like to create a new folder on the "C" drive and put them in there.

As for your other question, it should be an exact copy that will work. You can always try again later and stop at the place where it warns you that you are about to format your hard drive and it's the last chance to stop the recovery process.

See also this post here where Cheryl has left some very useful links about startup creating backup discs.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/operating-systems-and-software/creating-recovery-DVD-s-and-deleting-the-partition/m-p/245727

A second from the top. I wouldn't bother even burn a second series. I just have a few new using the Cheryls links. That way if you don't have a catastrophic failure, it will put the hard drive back as you want it and not image of original HP.

Please give a KUDOS to Cheryl and myself, if you found this post useful.  Thank you

I ran an experience and actually tried this and it works fine. When you use Image burn make sure you check the box to 'check' your DVD. I think it may already be checked by default however.

I had a spare hard drive to try it and I only allowed to go as far as the warning, then I cancelled the recovery process. Had let it go all the way I'm sure it would have worked.

  • I have 28 of Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 running on a Windows XP, I can "desensivise" the copy mode?

I have 28 Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 running on Windows XP
    I'm compiling a list of www.thegazette.co.uk
Sometimes the Explorer is slow, very slow, take up to five minutes to move from one page to another, but I can copy and paste paragraphs of her.
Firefox is fast but splits a paragraph into small sections (sometimes a letter) and each of them as simple features pasta in Notebook or Word. I am so in five minutes a page after I reassembled things.
My current compromise is looking in Firefox, then load the address of the page in Explorer solutions for the treatment of the paragraph.
I can "desensivise" the method of copy of Firefox?

I have the same problem when I try to copy the text, but all copies fine if I download the PDF file and open it with Adobe Acrobat/Adobe Reader. Try this if none of the cor - el or jscher2000 PDF viewers proposed work.

To do this there is a button at the top of the image that the document is in (it looks like a sheet of paper with an arrow above). Click here and you will be prompted to open the PDF file or save it. You can then choose to open it with Adobe Acrobat/Reader or save it in your file downloads, in which case you can open it by clicking the download button (the arrow at the top right of the default browser window) and select it from the menu. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat or Adobe reader, you can download Adobe Reader here.
