If I install a new mother/Hard Card Drive in my PC, will be Windows still recognize the PC & stay enabled?

If I install a new mother/Hard Card Drive in my PC, will be Windows still recognize the PC & stay enabled? Can I clone the existing drive I use or make a new installation (preferred). Both old & news readers are SSD. The two motherboards are made by Asus. If I can't get Windows to activate - what should I do about it? Thank you in advance for your help!

You may need to reactivate by phone, OEM licenses are not really intended to be transferred from the original motherboard it came with that.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

(2) press the ENTER"" key.

(3) select your "country" in the list.

(4) choose the option "activate phone".

(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • HP Pavilion a1640n: install a new nVidia video card

I just bought a GeForce 9400 GT from nVidia video card to upgrade my HP Pavilion a1640n running Windows XP SP3.  The a1640n has integrated the video and says nVidia user guides: "If your motherboard has integrated video card integrated, you may need to disable first, please contact your system or motherboard manufacturer."

My questions: do I have to first disable the integrated graphics subsystem?  If so, how?  Are there jumpers on the motherboard or the I disable in BIOS or in Windows Device Manager or...?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello:

There is no video settings to change in the BIOS normally on the HP PC. There are no riders to pass.

What you want to do is to first uninstall the drivers of your graphics integrated in the Device Manager. Just right click on the match video and select uninstall.

Do not restart the computer. Instead, stop it and install your new video card. Re-turn on your PC. Your new video card should be detected automatically and your integrated graphics should be disabled automatically.

Don't forget to move your video cable on the new map.

If you purchased a card with HDMI output, your integrated sound card will probably disabled in favor of audio HD integrated on the video card.

Don't worry there. Go into your BIOS if your sound is turned off and change your audio settings embedded auto to "Enabled". Save the setting it by hitting the F10 key and there still when you go out.

Your integrated sound card should be back, and you'll also audio HDMI when you need.

  • I just installed a new 320G hard drive. I partitioned for OS 4G. Now it says I have no more space, because it is using the partition of 4 GB for everything instead of just the operating system. Please help and advise what should I do and how to do it. Tha

    Dell Dimension 2400 with XP.

    mjcandlec1,
Welcome to the forums.  Firstly (and this is just my personal opinion) you can actually have a bit more large partition for the operating system.  Just to receive the updates and service packs and other.

This article will show you how to change the default location of My Documents.  Also when you install programs then ensure you that you change the default installation directory, it will try to go on the C: drive.

  • 860-160SE Phoenix envy: how to get 10 Windows to recognize the new hard drive

I installed a new WD Black 2 TB hard drive and the BIOS sees it, but Windows does not. It is not found in Windows. What I am doing wrong or do I need to put in place?

    Hello

You can see Windows disk management? You must initialize and give it a drive letter and Windows 10 should see under Explorer files (old Windows Explorer).

To access disk management please use search (or Win + Q) and type "Disk management" and then click the Service.

    Kind regards.

I am trying to install a new printer, and to do that I know I have to disable firewall settings. I try, but I get "due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings? Can anyone help?

I tried to go into Windows and change the settings of the firewall, but I get the same message.

I also tried to run an update of the Windows security updates, but same message.

I use Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

    Thank you

HI Maria/Winston.Not, trying to be coy but. I've never had close the firewall to load anything. It will be, or at least should invite you to make a choice to leave the program to run or not? Nevertheless. If you have windows activation hurt you firewall can reactivate manually without going through the bugs that you can not. If you click Start and choose the runtime application. Type cmd, and then press ENTER. When the command prompt box appears type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes. He'll say firewall reactivated and ask for a reboot. Restart the computer and it will be active again. Just trying to help.

    Hi Winston/Hewlit,

Thank you both for your advice.
While waiting for your answers, I pushed all sorts of buttons and downloaded all kinds of programs in the hope that I could break the firewall (Hewlit the printer I tried to install says to disable the firewall to install the printer, and then turn it back on?).
After a reboot, the message 'corrupt windows\system32 etc' file came and asked me to put in the original disc of Windows XP, I did not.
Cut a long story short, I have now booked for a technician to come out as I'm totally lost.
    Thanks again for your help,

  • Windows 7 recognizes the external hard drive, but I can't open to view files.

I have a portable Seagate external hard drive that I have connected to my Windows 7 pc.  The computer recognizes the drive when I go to Control Panel-Hardware and Sound-devices & Printers (it happens that the laptop).  I can't see the drive when I go to the Start Menu of the computer.  He was to drive L while it was working properly.  I checked the driver and tried to update the driver, but when I do it says that the latest version of the driver is already installed.  I tried to use the troubleshooter, but it does not recognize the problem.  I searched the web for solutions, but were unable to find answers.  Help, please.

Is there a stand-alone of Seatools?  I think I'd get ahold of stand alone drive Diagnostics and run them.  If you moved this player so he was reading or writing, it could have caused a head collision since the read/write heads are a tiny fraction of an inch of the surface of the disc.  And then sometimes they just wear out like what either with coins set in motion.  They are usually less than a year, but it happens sometimes.  I would check to see if it is still under warranty.  If so, maybe Seagate could help you.

    Good luck.

  • Need help to install a new discrete graphics card

I had a desktop Pavilion p6101f, upgraded to Windows 7, with an integrated Geforce 9100 graphic card. I want to install a discreet card to increase a little things. The HP support instructions say that the first necessary step is to "disable on board and select the right setting in the BIOS" by going into the Setup (F10) immediately at startup, go to the Advanced tab and then select the type of card being installed, which would be PCI - E. Problem is, there is absolutely no sign of the graphics options in the advanced options, or a different tab in my BIOS setup screens. So, what gives? Can I just skip this step and go directly to step 2 - disable the integrated graphics card drivers before installing the new card? Or do something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the clarification. Your correct, it is just to delete the previous drivers and installing the card, then the software from the CD of EVGA. To 31W of power, the card has doesn't require any power plug (s).

  • Re: Satellite Pro A300 - recovery disk will reinstall Windows OS on the new HARD drive

Hard drive of my Satellite Pro A300 failed. It has now been replaced. I ordered a recovery disk.
This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?

Also, I get this message "BOOTMGR MISSING". The recovery disc will fix this problem too?
    Thanks in advance!

    > I ordered a recovery disk. This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?
    Yes. Without a doubt.

New HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
    If so avoid any problem.

Moreover, A300 works perfectly and much better with Win7 32 bit.

    Hi Roger,

Welcome to Microsoft Community where you can find the answers related to Windows.

According to the description it looks as you receive an error message when you connect to the computer.

This problem occurs because of the scheduled task or as a result of a software conflict on your computer.

I suggest you perform a clean boot and check if it helps.

Clean boot will check if any third-party application is causing the problem, as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

If you run Windows Update it is not a virus. However, if you try and update certificates through third party sites there's a chance it could infect your computer.
