If Port 3389 must be open?

I use HP Desktop with Visat Home premium 32-bit with SP2 for Vista

Security is Norton

I've seen attempts at unsolicited incoming connections IP addresses connecting to this port, or at least try to connect (small notice number of bytes sent and received)

When I run netstat - ano, I see that port 3389 is in status "listens".

Shields Up indicates the port is "open".

I have not checked on remote help

a few questions come to mind

1 is this port open even if remote assistance is disabled by default on Vista?

2. How can I close this port?

Hello

By default, Remote Desktop uses port 3389 as listening to all the Remote Desktop connections incoming port. You can change the port to prevent any attack.

Step to change the listening port:
a. Click Start, and then type regedit in the search box start and press ENTER.
b. expand the registry files to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet > control > TerminalServer > WinStations > RDP - Tcp
c. then, locate the registry key under:
PortNumber
d. on the Edit menu, click on edit and then, in her change the DWORD value, click decimal that will show us the exactportnumber.
e. Enter the new port number, and then click on the OK"" button.
f. exit the registry editor and restart your computer.

  • Why isn't my port forwarding of the opening port

I have the latest version of the 3 terabyte time capsule. I'm trying to forward a port so I can access my security cameras and it does not open.  My camera 100 port needs to be open and it will report as not open on any port test sites. Any ideas as to why, I use a static ip address of the server for the security system.

Testing websites are useless... test by plugging actually to the camera from a device attached to a captive phone or a friend...

Port forwarding works only if you have the public IP address on the Wan of the TC... and it's the only router in the network... is this the case?

Help, I have a small embroidery business and have used a program called Embird.  Yesterday, I downloaded an upgrade for this program. It said to uninstall the old program before installing the new, so I did.  Now when I try to install the new one it says this link must be opened with an application, select application.  I have no idea what it means that someone can help me?  I tried to restore the computer to a date prior to just start all over hoping he would restore the old Embird, it says that the file may be damaged and will not work.

    Follow these steps:

Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Properties.  What does say for 'File Type' and what is the 3-letter file extension (after the point)?

If there is no file extension, find the file using Windows Explorer, and then click Tools > Folder Options > view.  Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" and click OK.  Now, look at the file again for the file extension.

  • ESXi 4 ports required to be open for remote access

    Hi all

I recently setup an ESXi 4 on a customer site and need to access it remotely via the public Internet (ouch...). I need to know which ports need to be opened in the firewall, so I can take control of this host remotely from home.

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

    See you soon!

    Kevin

This link has all the ports/protocols required to get to the VMware services via a FW.

You might be better served by creating a virtual machine, and then connect to it against directly to the host. If you are using Windows, you can also configure RDP and only open this hole against 80, 443, 902, 903, etc.. Other options, as mentioned above would be a VPN; something like bridge W2K8 RDP.

  • Problem of modem A30-port could not be opened...

    Hi all
I have a Satellite A30 here and I can't get the modem to work. I tried to uninstall the drivers and download and run the drivers from the toshiba web site. (mdm-sa30-xp-31116all5 - gb.zip)

The modem gets versions and automatically installed by Win XP... (He uses the right drivers?)

When I query the modem, I get the error message:
"The port that the modem is attatched could not be opened. This could be the result of a hardware conflict. Check the Device Manager to verify that all devices are functional.

It uses com 1 now it was com3 and com 1 was used next to him. Now he doesn't.

I have not yet tried a hyperterminal test.

I think that this problem is not too uncommon that I already found a few comments on various forums about this, but so far all troubleshooting tips didn't work.

This laptop have nokia PC suite installed and has been set up to connect to the internet via GPRS via mobile before and probably using the mobile as a modem also... I think that might have something to do with my problem...

    All comments will be welcome

    Thanks in advance

    HI 2-6

Can you please tell me what is listed in the phone and modem options in the Modem tab? Normally, the Toshiba software modem is detected to use COM3 port.

If I understand you right you use portable too for internet connection. Mobile phone should also be which are listed there. Which port to use mobile phone? Have you ever tried to remove all and first of all once again reinstall modem TOSHIBA after mobile phone?

  • Modem port could not be opened - Satellite A10

    This is the full message:
The port that the modem is attached could not be opened. This can be the result of a hardware conflict. Check the Device Manager to verify that all devices are functional.
the pc is A10 satellite, modem v.92, no hardware conflicts in Device Manager.

Try to remove the modem from Device Manager, and after new restart try to configure the modem again.
I recommend also to remove the modem driver and then reinstall.
